its kinda weird to see so many nations, that were once powerful and strong, are now, well, not so strong. The Roman Empire was strong, but look at the Italians during ww2. France (former Franks and gauls) and now the poles, apparently.
@johnny22233323 There are lots of patterns in nature etc but I believe that the pattern to everything is a sine wave. It always goes from one extreme to the other and similarly back to the "normal".
@johnny22233323 Romans actually became the The Holy Roman Empire. Italians came about from Venice. I'm guessing you've never played Medieval Total War 2!!
@johnny22233323 Germany is one nation that has always been a power... Even when they were Barbarians, they still brought Rome to it's knees. Now after two world wars which flattened the country and almost a century of paying war reparations they, are now the strongest economy in Europe! Where other cultures rise and fall, the Germans keep coming back. Rather mind boggling...
With the Poles being the bad guys in this film and Russians are the ones being invaded this seriously fucks with peoples stereotypes and beliefs quite simply because they know shit about history. Some people sound like they dont believe this kind of shit happened but it did. Now you know why Russia is very suspicious and defensive. They've been fighting off invaders since inception. Poland was once a subjugating military power just like little old Sweden.
You guys are all asshats, stop looking at this trailer from a one-sided point of view and arguing over interpretations. Yes its a Russian war propaganda film to depict Tsarist Russia as peace loving hippies, which as we all know, they weren't. But at the same time, its pretty accurate in showing the Poles being opportunistic land-grabbing twats when they saw that Russia was being beset on all fronts by other opportunistic land-grabbing twats. Take it for what it is and enjoy the damn movie.
really? history fact. unicorns are real or at least were until Chengis Khan made them go extinct. It is known fact, you noob, that unicorn horns were used by the Poles with their erectile dysfunctions, it was a very common thing at the time period because their diet of potatoes brought low blood circulation. Top that you nerd.
The guys on the horses with the fancy armour look like thos from the tutonuc order (sorry about the spelling) and didn't Poland set that up then have to try and sort it out because they where coming really powerfull
But coz Russia is fighting Poland they join there Side
Seriously if you look at Poles today, you'd never think they even had the balls to invade Russia. Like its a myth, but they did pretty good in the beginning. Russia was in time of troubles and they exploited that like all of the invaders of Russia did. But poles later payed for that since the Russian empire up until the fall of USSR. Gotta give it to poland, their hussars were pretty bad ass, but other than that poland is just a small country in the category- "shit that no one cares about".
@luckyStrike89ru Nobody has successfully occupied Russia since they single-handedly whooped the Mongols' asses in the 1400's... nobody else can quite boast that accomplishment... a bunch of divided, disorganized, "uncivilized" tribes defeated the largest land empire the world had ever known, and they havent suffered a major occupation since. Why do you think that is?
And what makes you think that Poland ever had a chance?
Another Russian propaganda film making the Poles out to be evil imperialist aggressors...it's like the only films Russia makes are about war. It doesn't mean they're bad films, but it says something about their culture...
@biggrigga Because in the west we don't make many movies about war. And we never make any other countries look bad. We only make movies about flowers and how we must love all nations, and no movies about how America kicks ass in every single war and how America never looses a war. No, sir.
@sirherpyderp I'm not from the USA and I dislike war movies that promote violence against other countries, and promote blind nationalism. Don't make that assumption.
@luckyStrike89ru Except that it's based on actual events in history...not a medieval war that is twisted in facts to make Russia seem like a peace loving victim.
@luckyStrike89ru This film is another in a new fad of Russian war propganda films. Propaganda films celebrating Russian involvement in Afghanistan or the Russo-Japanese war. Russia has always been an aggressor country.
@biggrigga i could say "well so is the USA" but instead i cant get past the fact of how stupid and illogical ur comment is, wat does that have to do with ANYTHING? if this is propoganda, then stop making bullshit WW2 movies with americans (Ingluriose bastards, Pearl Harbor- with Leonardo, that was totally unhistorical) and i can go on and on
I'm Polish and am ashamed and I apologize for my amcestors using the unicorn power for evil purposes....That's what Hitler was after, any Polak will tell you that.
thois movie is very one-sided makes the Russians look like gods and the polish like mad dogs...when it was really the other way around cause Russains were power crazy in those days...still are in a way :P
@OutrageousLilKillers Actually at that time, Poland had the backing of the Catholic Church, which provided gear and equipment for war(crusades) and training. Russians were mostly orthodox and most were separated by different principalities that were warring with each other and were largely divided. So Poland tried to invade Russian states and convert them to Roman Catholicism. Poles were actually the aggressors then. Too bad Russia turned to one themselves later.
@luckyStrike89ru read more about polish history then write, poles never buck up crusaders, read about battle in 1410 with knights of cross you will understand polish relation with pope and church
This movie is pretty brutal and funny as well (in a sense) I recommend watching it. Just dont take it as precise historical fact..there are some adjustments for the sake of story telling
@MlodySocjalista9 You call it very simple. But its not so simple. The movie which could be Anti-something should be real drama whos manage to offend some nationality. Finally ! Somebody makes movie about eastern european battles. I think that we've got much more better history in field battle than the west side of the europe, but we cant sell the good story to the world. Im bored of watching the robin hood, the elizabeths, about Ludvik I, II, III, IV, V blabla. I need an eastern european story.
@dudechicken2 lol...that's because the Western Side of Europe where in historic battles for over 2000 years while the Easterners where still fighting in rags
@Saxonandproud great knowledge in history :D but only Lithuanians fights in rags to XIV century. Btw you dont get it. Western Europe still makes five thousand movies about Robin Hood, when 2000 british men fights with 2000 french, while in Eastern Europe there was some battle when 50.000 men fights with 100.000 Turks in some battle. Whats the more boring shit ? Anyway Its about opening history in some new fronts.
@Saxonandproud Really? Britain was in historic battles for 2000 years before 1600? Last I heard the saxons were barbarians, just like every other northern european western and eastern parts. The only European powers that were doing historic battles were the Roman empire and the Greeks. Russia had everyone to worry about: Asians from east, muslims from south and other europeans from west so stfu you little english cunt.
@MrAquarius7 history which takes place in movie refers to real facts (without some silly actions like Hussars attacking palace and few others ). Russians celebrate this day from 1612 as their victory against enemy (Poland) to present day. So indeed its about history.
@dudechicken2 Yes the movie is about history, but that's it. It was not consulted with any historian, it has many mistakes and shows battles that didnt take place.
@dudechicken2 What about simply making movies about epic battles and people. Like: Cyrus The Great from Persia. Vlad The Impaler. Napoleons invasion of Mother Russia. WW2 from SOVIET perspective. Genghis Khan. Suleiman The MAgnicifent. Sun Tzu. Peter The Great. Khald Walid. Cao Cao. The Russian Katahrina. General Surena. Odo Nabunaga. Bosnian War. Etc etc etc. Movies about these topics ahve ALOT of potensial.
@GaminCro: I just had a great realization! Most films are propagandist. Just look at the Alamo, what a one sided story and film cause didn't America invade Mexico.
@vidman163 no. texas was a seperate country when it was taken from mexico. actually the people that lived there were mexican citizens thet rebeled against mexico to form their own government to later join the states...
@danthman114: Actually they were Americans with Mexican citizenship who lived in Texas and decided to rebel although there were still Mexicans but there was only 1/15.
Nice old belivers miter. Well lets be honest . If not for Sobieski and the Poles there would be no Austria . No Mozart ,no struddel, or hot chocolet. But Also the Latin church waged war for hundreds of years in eastern europe with the Unia. 6 of one half a dozen of another.
The Poles were always stronger then the russians. Russia was never able to defeat Poland on her own so she would need another power to help her. Russia always had alllies cause she can never rely on her own HAHAHAHHAHA STUPID FUCKING RUSSIANS CAN NEVER DO ANYTHING ALONE YOU ALWAYS NEED PEOPLE TO HELP YOU. FUCK YOU PUSSYYSSS
@Arnee01901 . Ты меня совсем не понял. В России никто про Польшу с 1990 г не слышал: ни по новостям, ни по Euronews, ни фильмов, ни книг-ничего. Если бы не крушение самолета год назад, вообще бы все про нее забыли вчистую.
@lopez5678 Russians arent stupid. And poland was stronger than them. If not for the Union with Lithuania. Your poles would have done the same thing as they did during the crusades - open the doors to the crusaders and kneel before them. Only to later fight alongside Lithuania to defeat them.
Hells yeah Russia can beat Poland today, but let us not forget how 5,000 polish horsemen destroyed 40,000 swedes and russians. This film is pretty propagandist though. I am a Russian and I admit it,
@Samson163 Amazing, all these pages of comments and your the only one i can find that says if they liked the film or not, which is what i read the comments for. I really don't need all the political/historical bickering.
Holy shit guys do you have to talk about Alexander the Great in every video on youtube ? -.- it's getting boring you know! I live in Macedonia we are Slavs, the language, the names, the traditions, the folklore, the tales EVERYTHING is Slavic. Alexander the great is not Greek he's a Macedonian , an ancient one and has nothing to do with today's Macedonians. Through out history the name of the territory was Macedonia not as a country but as a region.

@grou28 Learn history before you will write anything. Poles conquered Moscow and ruled Russia more than 2 years. That movie is a shitty Russian propaganda (we won battle of Moscow, Polish Hussars never charged at city gates and few peasants didn't defeated Polish army).
@Ivor94 hey, you! I don't say nothing wrong! i just asked a question!! I was sure it was propaganda like i know that the polish cavalery never charged the german panzers in 1939, that's why i said "what's that joke?"... I'm french so the poles are my friends... so relax, man!
@Dimonkurilshik Poland was attacked by Russia, Prussia and Austria at once. Cowards needed 3 countries to defeat Poland. Russia couldn't defeat us in war 1v1.
@batulefou He wanted to ally with France and Sweden and turn against Austria. It would happen but our noble didn't want it. Noble democracy was one of the reasons of Polish weakness in XVII and XVIII century. They didn't want to fight and pay taxes. Sobieski wanted to change it, he wanted to make Poland strong but unfortunately it never happened...
@Ivor94 ur polish, so stfu and yes russia could defeat you 1v1 but why would they want to loose a hell of a lot more men than whan neccisery just by simply asking for help. for example, afghanistan atm... america wouldn't go 1v1 as they would loose thousands of more troops than neccisery...
@UltraEpicLoser . What war? Against whom? That time about 50 one-day butterfly states arised on Russian body after treatherous coup in 1917, carried on by gang of german spies. They for sure gave independence to Finland, Poland, Estonia and so on.
It were commie who are were real fathers of Finland and Poland.
So you are talking about war against your fathers?
@grou28 It happened...with Napoleon the Poles were in Moscow ( Moscow was not the capital then) only a month, in 1612 ( Moscow as the capital) alone 2 years...is a known historical fact I do not know why you ask...
I watched the movie... It is a Wonderful one.. I have to admit. I was fascinated. How a smerd became a warlord. I liked the Real spaniard. All those effects, and the history... Its a wonderful movie, lads. Well done. Greetings from Macedonia. I noticed that you mentioned Aleksandar Makedonski :) That part moved me!
@tette666 Because the FACTS say so..... they talked greek the culture is greek and their state was in greece... they also fought with a high concentration of hoplites...
@brammatie2 I read they weren't allowed at the Olympics at the time. Besides... you didn't really answer my question, but I'll assume you deem him Greek.
Well... No one really held Russia for long except for the Mongols (abt. 150 years)... It's simply the nature there: brutal nature - brutal people! If we take into account the brutality of nations and compare it to climates where they come from, the correlation gets very obvious and clear. For instance: Look at the Italians - bella Italia, mild climate - shitty warriors. Where is the home of the most brutal and warlike people in Europe? The Germanic north! This is a great film! I reccomend it!
@FilipMarkovski Shitty warriors? THe Roman Empire conquered all of Europe and Rome, AS LONG AS I CHECKED, is in Italy and has the same climat as today. Same for Greece; a moderate climat (it can be very hot but reasonably fertile land) was a nation that also conquered large parts of the world and bested the Persian empire.
@ElmerAwesome I knew someone was going to pull those out! Well, last time I checked, Rome lost BADLY against the Germanic tribes across the Rhine and Danube (Teutoburg forest, anyone?) and Greece waged war in the same climate range as it's self. Besides: The book of Italian military victories isn't listed among the shortest books in the world for nothing! ;)
@FilipMarkovski Last time I checked rome OWNED the Germanic tribes for HUNDREDS of years; untill they were disorganised by internal stuggles and the germans were forced to attack them becaus they on turn were attaced heavily by the huns.
The Germans lost almost all battles with the Romans. Teutoborg forest was an exception.
Greece under Alexander conquered all of the middle-east and India.
Your theory is absurd. Also I actually study history whereas you probably don't (just sayin).
@ElmerAwesome The Huns just prove my case! ;) Rome won due to tactics not individual warrior capability. They were strong whilst in their unit, operating as one. As soon as their unit was broken, they were doomed. Same thing with phalanxes. That is a known historic fact.
I don't know where you study your history from, but Greek CITY STATES were OWNED by KINGDOM OF MACEDON and played minor part in Macedonian conquest (mostly auxiliary units protecting flanks of phalanxes and Cretan archers).
@FilipMarkovski 1. Macedonians ARE Greeks; basicly the same climate (so your theorie is disproven by this)
2. The Romans were defeated without their formations because of the huns superior usage of mounted archers; not because they were a stronger people. Roman soldiers were infact very strong; trilled to cary huge palisade poles in their marches al day. Most modern day soldiers can't do that anymore.
@ElmerAwesome 1. For the second time... If they live in the same climate, it doesn't matter for my point. Get it?! Macedonians are a Hellenised mix of tribes and there is no proof what so ever that they were Greek before Fillip II of Macedon except for Greek miths and legends and last time I checked those are not a historically reliable source... According to those than, Greek nations would have spread from modern day Bosnia (Daori and other Hellenised or at least bilingual tribes) to India...
@FilipMarkovski It totaly matters because you linked people's warabilities with climate; which is ridicilous I think (with all respect to you). Grecians had a moderate; not harsh climate, yet they were extremely succesful. So were the romans.
@ElmerAwesome 2. Yes, they were defeated by Huns. Without their tactics they were nothing as individual fighters. Besides, all legions of Rome which were worth anything were mostly foreign - Panonian legion was Traian's favourite for instance...
@FilipMarkovski And the Huns were defeated by the Mamelukkes, and the Mamelukkes were taken into the Ottoman Empire which was later defeated by European armies... Climate doesn't matter.
HUNS HAD TACTICS TO. Ghenghiz Khan's (Yes I know Im speaking about Mongols now; but they have the same climate) was victorious because he usage of superior tactics. The Huns' strenght was their mounted archery, of the Grecians their Phalanxes, Persians their numbers, Romans their formations and equipment.

What a propagandist film!
vidman163 3 months ago
@vidman163 Propagandist?Look at half of the American movies, and of every other country, most of the stuff is propaganda...
GaminCro 3 months ago
@GaminCro: I just had a great realization! Most films are propagandist. Just look at the Alamo, what a one sided story and film cause didn't America invade Mexico.
vidman163 3 months ago
@vidman163 no. texas was a seperate country when it was taken from mexico. actually the people that lived there were mexican citizens thet rebeled against mexico to form their own government to later join the states...
danthman114 2 months ago
@danthman114: Actually they were Americans with Mexican citizenship who lived in Texas and decided to rebel although there were still Mexicans but there was only 1/15.
vidman163 2 months ago
@vidman163 in other words they were mexico citizens not american citizens. so what i said was correct, correct?
danthman114 2 months ago
@danthman114: Yes and they were sympathetic to America. Either the Alamo heroism is still a crap propaganda.

@Arnee01901 .

Arnee01901 3 months ago
@lopez5678 Russians arent stupid. And poland was stronger than them. If not for the Union with Lithuania. Your poles would have done the same thing as they did during the crusades - open the doors to the crusaders and kneel before them. Only to later fight alongside Lithuania to defeat them.

Through out history the name of the territory was Macedonia not as a country but as a region.

grou28 4 months ago
@grou28 Learn history before you will write anything. Poles conquered Moscow and ruled Russia more than 2 years. That movie is a shitty Russian propaganda (we won battle of Moscow, Polish Hussars never charged at city gates and few peasants didn't defeated Polish army).
Ivor94 4 months ago
@Ivor94 hey, you! I don't say nothing wrong! i just asked a question!! I was sure it was propaganda like i know that the polish cavalery never charged the german panzers in 1939, that's why i said "what's that joke?"... I'm french so the poles are my friends... so relax, man!

Dimonkurilshik 3 months ago
@Dimonkurilshik Poland was attacked by Russia, Prussia and Austria at once. Cowards needed 3 countries to defeat Poland. Russia couldn't defeat us in war 1v1.
Ivor94 3 months ago
@Ivor94 it is all Sobieski's fault. he should have came to vienna, and help the turks.
batulefou 3 months ago
@batulefou He wanted to ally with France and Sweden and turn against Austria. It would happen but our noble didn't want it. Noble democracy was one of the reasons of Polish weakness in XVII and XVIII century. They didn't want to fight and pay taxes. Sobieski wanted to change it, he wanted to make Poland strong but unfortunately it never happened...

@Ivor94 hahahahahahahahahaha idiot
russiana2m 3 months ago
@Ivor94 ur polish, so stfu and yes russia could defeat you 1v1 but why would they want to loose a hell of a lot more men than whan neccisery just by simply asking for help. for example, afghanistan atm... america wouldn't go 1v1 as they would loose thousands of more troops than neccisery...

FilipMarkovski 5 months ago
@FilipMarkovski Shitty warriors? THe Roman Empire conquered all of Europe and Rome, AS LONG AS I CHECKED, is in Italy and has the same climat as today. Same for Greece; a moderate climat (it can be very hot but reasonably fertile land) was a nation that also conquered large parts of the world and bested the Persian empire.
ElmerAwesome 4 months ago
@ElmerAwesome I knew someone was going to pull those out! Well, last time I checked, Rome lost BADLY against the Germanic tribes across the Rhine and Danube (Teutoburg forest, anyone?) and Greece waged war in the same climate range as it's self. Besides: The book of Italian military victories isn't listed among the shortest books in the world for nothing! ;)
FilipMarkovski 4 months ago
@FilipMarkovski Last time I checked rome OWNED the Germanic tribes for HUNDREDS of years; untill they were disorganised by internal stuggles and the germans were forced to attack them becaus they on turn were attaced heavily by the huns.
The Germans lost almost all battles with the Romans. Teutoborg forest was an exception.
Greece under Alexander conquered all of the middle-east and India.
Your theory is absurd. Also I actually study history whereas you probably don't (just sayin).
ElmerAwesome 4 months ago
@ElmerAwesome The Huns just prove my case! ;) Rome won due to tactics not individual warrior capability. They were strong whilst in their unit, operating as one. As soon as their unit was broken, they were doomed. Same thing with phalanxes. That is a known historic fact.
I don't know where you study your history from, but Greek CITY STATES were OWNED by KINGDOM OF MACEDON and played minor part in Macedonian conquest (mostly auxiliary units protecting flanks of phalanxes and Cretan archers).
FilipMarkovski 4 months ago
@FilipMarkovski 1. Macedonians ARE Greeks; basicly the same climate (so your theorie is disproven by this)
2. The Romans were defeated without their formations because of the huns superior usage of mounted archers; not because they were a stronger people. Roman soldiers were infact very strong; trilled to cary huge palisade poles in their marches al day. Most modern day soldiers can't do that anymore.
ElmerAwesome 4 months ago
@ElmerAwesome 1. For the second time... If they live in the same climate, it doesn't matter for my point. Get it?! Macedonians are a Hellenised mix of tribes and there is no proof what so ever that they were Greek before Fillip II of Macedon except for Greek miths and legends and last time I checked those are not a historically reliable source... According to those than, Greek nations would have spread from modern day Bosnia (Daori and other Hellenised or at least bilingual tribes) to India...
FilipMarkovski 4 months ago
@FilipMarkovski It totaly matters because you linked people's warabilities with climate; which is ridicilous I think (with all respect to you). Grecians had a moderate; not harsh climate, yet they were extremely succesful. So were the romans.
ElmerAwesome 4 months ago
@ElmerAwesome 2. Yes, they were defeated by Huns. Without their tactics they were nothing as individual fighters. Besides, all legions of Rome which were worth anything were mostly foreign - Panonian legion was Traian's favourite for instance...
FilipMarkovski 4 months ago
@FilipMarkovski And the Huns were defeated by the Mamelukkes, and the Mamelukkes were taken into the Ottoman Empire which was later defeated by European armies... Climate doesn't matter.
HUNS HAD TACTICS TO. Ghenghiz Khan's (Yes I know Im speaking about Mongols now; but they have the same climate) was victorious because he usage of superior tactics. The Huns' strenght was their mounted archery, of the Grecians their Phalanxes, Persians their numbers, Romans their formations and equipment.
ElmerAwesome 4 months ago
@ElmerAwesome Huns lost due to overstreatching and other internal problems.
