  • scene- 2 drunk marines (i know, that's hard to believe ) one with a buck master and the other with a equivalent sized Gerber decide the only way to determine which knife is superior is to clash them together like mid-evil swords !result - Gerber lost a 1/2 " chunk of steal half way up the blade and I was able to file out a 1/32 " nic out of my Buck-Master ,which is still in service 25 years later !o-yes no fingers where lost that night, only a few unnecessary brain cells .

  • It looks like plastic. But it gets worse. However I will not waste my time.

  • The knife seemed durable. It had a couple of problems - it would tear the skin off your hands in hard work, solution - wear gloves; and the grappling hooks are not a safe working tool. It has a hefty weight, and worked well - if one wants to pack the weight. The top section was meant to stab through the skin of an aircraft/helo and cut an escape exit in an emergency, the serated edge was for cutting wet manil or nylon rope/line; the point is self expanitory. Knife worked well for intended use.

  • I think I read an old article in Soldier of Fortune about this knife snapping easily in a vice test. But only an idiot would do that. I held it once and I loved the weight of it and its thickness. It's a really cool knife.

  • There were fakes out there. Chinese I think. There is a site dedicated to this knife that shows 1 or 2 pics of SEALS with the knives on a fast boat. It is a cool knife but mine doesn't come out to play anymore as it is just too expensive and will only increase in value.

  • The "spiky horns" r in the right position and they r not arrow heads. This knife was designed to the navy seals and the spikes were to used...if u were a brave person....as a grappling hook and are normally kept in the pouch with a compass. I'm not so sure I would use them as such. If u have a real one it won't break. They were last made in the late 80's I think. I got mine at the px in 29 palms back in 1987. The compass is small but a good one. Swiss built. A real Buckmaster now goes for 500.00

  • This is more of a valuable collectors piece for Buck enthusiasts. All knives have their limitations in real use, I broke and seen more snapped kabars than any other knife. Though admittedly, they would be considered abused.

  • I used to have one of these. took it to survival school and the blade broke off at the hilt with the first wood chop. I got a KABAR.

  • not a big fan of the knife but that's a great sheath

  • I believe the spike are supposed to go the other way so that the knife can be used as an emergency ice pick, or ice axe.

  • what are the spikes down the guard for?

  • i have this knife. my pa gave it to me one day just because, i use it alot, it's a really heavy uncomfortable knife but it's handy

  • surely you're a virgin

  • This is a highly collectible knife. Albeit, a gimmick that went nowhere other than into collections. At the end of the day, this knife inspired most, if not all combat grade bowies to come... and in its own right, as much as a gimmick this knife is, its a very cool gimmick.

  • To nay sayers: this knife is highly collectible. It was originally given to the military in the very early 1980's from a defense contract as the first combat/survival bayonet since the M1905 and other older "M" series models derived from WW2.

It was a hybrid between the previous bayonets and the legendary Marine Ka-Bar, and paved the way for modern military survival gear, such as the M9 and the OKC-3s Bayonet now used today.

Get a better military knife? This inspired those....

  • wtf is this?

  • It looks like a plastic toy

  • i think the spiky horns are upside down

  • @Navlek79 their arrow heads btw

  • @Navlek79 How will it fit in the sheath...? i don't think they are wrong.

  • What's this? a knife to kill you instead of saving

  • wo finde ich das teil?

  • Can somebody tell me, what's the best knife making companie in the world?

  • @iPodiMaster Eickhorn!

  • Shiney.

  • What is not shown here is the sharpening stone attached to the inner side of the sheath. Also the the handle is hollow making it good for spear purposes. There is enough space inside the handle for iodine tablets, matches and a small tube of neosporin. The weight is heavy but a plus in certain situations like lunging or when attached to a pole while penetrating the surface of water when going after a fish. I use this as a dive knife while scuba diving on ship wrecks.

  • gerber lmf II is legit no offence, that buck looks like its made of plastic or should be a bumper on a 4X4 its a user preference deal i guess but there are far better knives out there but thats just my un-educated opinion haha

  • @thomascking12 I agree, the gerber lmf 2 is about as good as it gets right after the USMC ka-bar for survival/tactical needs. I mean the size, the shock absorbing grip, the serrated blade, the versatility of the sheath and most importantly the price. That thing is a beast all around. This buck is nice too tho...

  • this is such a gay knife. i would rather carry something thats not going to snap in half

  • wow the 119 looks way better

  • I can just imagine using this grappling hook. The screw in pin snaps off, the stretchy rope then snaps the knife back at your head at warp speed. Also, seems like it would routinely stab you in the hand. maybe it should be called a Darwin knife.

Anything by Kabar, Ontario, or Schrade extreme survival would be my preference.

  • werew can i get 1

  • Ontario made US issue short machete is the best all around tool for survival. No "survival knife" compares.

  • @slaughterzealibib

Because anyone can make a bold statement without rationale or reasoning.

    Look dude, I love my gator machette as much as you love your ontario;

there are just some cases where carying a 20 inch slab of steel with a nearly blunt blade

isn`t the best thing to do.

  • @slaughterzealibib that was a stupid thing to say. a kinfe is used for different thinks than a machete. that was a stupid thing to say

  • @nickmorganmusic And its really stupid to carry around a hollow handle knife and expect to chop anything, water proof matches to light fires, and a few feet of fishing line to use for traps and fishing. A short machete can be used for anything that knife can be except stabbing and sawing (but honestly the saw part is shit).

  • You guys need to calm down with who's right. Your on YouTube. There is bound to be idiots that think they no what there talking about.

  • bussecombat com best knives in the world

  • a show piece. nothing but a wall hanger

  • it's too heavy ...

  • whats with the spikes? looks so stupid I would take them off and throw them in the thrash right away. I have a buck vanguard and its the best knife I have so what was Buck thinking when adding stupid spikes to a knife like that..?

  • @MIRCWOOD the spikes are supposed to make the knife into a grappling hook LOL!

  • @chopski007 A grappling hook..?? Thats funny Lol Have you ever needed one and wished your knife would turn into one? Me neither.. Lol

  • That's too bad, you've never kissed a girl. Stay away from the douche bag "survival" knives and do your homework, tool.

  • lol that looks gay id rather use a plastic spoon

  • Whats the point of the giant spikes?

  • @danielstromberg57 sawing through thin sheet metal for downed airmen.. basically just for sawing through materials

  • @danielstromberg57 It's a special delivery form for performance enhancing drugs; suppositories for real men, made of steel!

  • @MrCreativeboii and @SocialNetworkWhore You're both stupid and have no real knife and metal intelligence obviously. This knife is a very good knife. My collection is huge and my Buck has been through everything for the past 17 years and right now it's sharp pointed and ready.I just love those with a little dangerous knowledge with bar stool degree's.

  • how come yours has 2 pouches up front?

  • I feel lousy but the truth is that Cold Steel was founded in 1980 (5years after Nam), the company known today as "S.O.G" was founded in 1986! There was a M.A.C.V-S.O.G (Military Assistance Command Vietnam-Studies &Observation Group) knife, it was made in 1966 & issued to covert units, it did not have any markings connecting it to the USA, it was made in Japan ,6" blade, 1200 during first run & 3700 1 year later, VERY collectable

  • Laugh all you want, this is one of the very few hollow handle survival knives that stands up to all tests. I have one of the very first made, it didn't have that sign stamped into the blade. Those spikes are unscrewed and stored in one of those bags attached on the sheath. In a test of my own I attached rope to they loop in the screw cap and it held 175 lbs. with no problem. While I would not want to carry the thing all day, it fits great under the seat. The sheath even has a sharpener.

  • it looks like one od the pos knives from some creepy gothic store

  • no what u need is a treeman combat knife

  • what r the spikes u removed for

  • @mrouterrim - Their used to stab yourself in the wrist when you pull it out quick in an emergency.

  • putain la bète !!!

  • Spikes are to use it as a grapling hook. I lol'd too

  • have one of these in black. Are well made, very strong but heavy. Uncomfortable to wear all day, so out it at the bottom of a canoe on a jungle boat trip, canoe overturned and the knife fell into a deep fast flowing river and that was the end of that knife in a survival situation ! The spikes are to clean your nostrils with or to put in your earholes to have a quiet sleep when in a warzone -hee hee

  • welllllllllllllllllllllll that's a bad idea

  • Its better then most "survival" style hollow-handled knives

    i think

  • If you use this knife to cut my throat, i'll die laughing.

  • WTF were those spikes on hte guard for? :S

  • @saihtambe so you can use it as an anchor ! Can't imagine it being practical

  • ooooo pretty

  • come on 165.682 klicks for a knife !!!!!!!!!!!

  • to be honest id rather buy the sheath than the knife.

  • where did ya mum and i go wrong!

  • IM SURE IT SERVES ITS PURPOSE IN THE BUSH

  • It's orribleeeeeee!!!!! OMG...

  • very nice knife =D......

  • to nie jest noz

    this is not a knife

  • This is probably the worst BUCK knife ever made, but I can't blame them for having to compete in the "Rambo" knife market of the '80's it probably made someone in Taiwan extremely rich... I'm sure the BUCK version is a lot better, but still stupid as hell.

  • id be embarresd to be stabed by that

  • the little spikes on the handle are for if you want to turn your knife into an anchor. who the f&#$ would do that

  • @schutter0291 u mean like a grappling hook?

  • @thermaldog yeah

  • @schutter0291 well that'd be cool. NOT! Lets run a fun little scenario they prolly didn't think off:

1: Tie up rope to knife/grapple

2: Throw knife/grapple up to hook onto ledge or whatever

3: Knife misses falls back towards you you get stabbed bc you cant throw or have crap aim.

    Analysis: USELESS

  • @SocialNetworkWhore never said that would be cool y would u use it for that stuff

  • Novelty knife

  • damn that knife is a beast

  • very niceeeeeee

  • no

  • i think this dont last aloot of time in the wood

  • is that a knife r a sword

  • You want a survival knife, heres a list of 3 things id trust more than this showy POS:

1: K-bar- Military grade, vietnam era/korean era is best bet. (YES you CAN find them.)

2: M1905- US Military issued bayonet during WWII, extremely sharp and effective if maintained properly.)

3: If you want to stick with Buck, go with the classic, Buck 119 Special. Sharp, effective, beautiful.

  • @SocialNetworkWhore - Very informed post, I can't believe BUCK didn't just market the 119 Special more heavily in the '80's (or KA-BAR with their USMC model) because people eventually realized those "Rambo" survival knives were absolute pieces of shit. It amazes me that BUCK made this POS to begin with, someone in the company felt desperate apparently... at least they made a better version of crap! :P

  • @Fretfeeler Thank you, I try to help people make the right decisions instead of buying something showy with no real purpose. Not to mention when it comes to knives and firearms I hate seeing people waste their money on something that wont really help them in any kind of scenario lol

  • @SocialNetworkWhore yeah ok, how much does this good shit cost man?

  • @SocialNetworkWhore this buck knife is a quality survival knife it has a water proof compartment that can be used for fire starter matches etc.... those spikes is used to repel down cliffs and other obstacles the entire knife is one solid piece of steal and the weight is well worth it it can be used in the same manor that a axe or hatchet would be used and in addition to that it has a full fledged saw on the back and the serration on the top is capable of cutting rope wire and flesh

  • @SocialNetworkWhore the knife was also given to me by an ARMY ranger who used it during his employment in Vietnam witch is undoubtably a survival situation i own a KA-Bar and i would rather go into the woods with my buck than a light weight knife purely ment for slashing and stabbing known as a fighting knife

  • @USMCSC0UTSniper Don't know how to break it to you but your USA Ranger might be pulling your leg, here is why, the Vietnam conflict ended in APRIL 1975, this knife was first produced in late 1984 (2600 made), than in 1985 Buck decided to protect the item with a patent, during that year 53000 units were made. As you can see this knife did not come to be until 9 or so years AFTER Vietnam, btw I am a Viet Vet, 1971-1979 USA, 11B E6.

  • @Gent1911 Here is the link to the history of the Buck-184 knife. triple w dot buck-184 dot com

  • @Gent1911 sorry sir i just talked to him yesterday and he sed they only used cold steel and SOG not Buck he gave the buck to me around four years ago i mixed up what a herd him say

  • @SocialNetworkWhore Gerber LMF II?

  • Stop before you make yourself sound even more like a fool. What makes a "Korea Era" better than another "Era" when several different companies produced Ka-Bar in many different years.

Why would you trust a 1905 bayonet more than the "showy POS"?.... a M1905 bayonet has a 16 inch blade and 4inch grip. ya great survival knife....Thats why the US Military decided it was ridiculously too big and redesigned the 1905 into the M1. Please enlighten me on why the 420 is better than 425 Mod stainless.

  • @SocialNetworkWhore

    *Cough cough* Ontario RAT-7*cough cough*

  • @SocialNetworkWhore Don't forget the one that most elite units are going with now, the Cold Steel RECON SCOUT.

  • @SocialNetworkWhore That made me feel stupid reading it.

  • @XxXTheToasterXxX

The knife is real, not a fake just pretty much useless

Not sure why buck make it but you can buy one

  • this knife is useless...LOL

  • to bad its fake

  • stupid and expensive

  • that knife looks like a Hummer H2 ; big ,heavy and useless off-road.

  • I never could get past the hollow handle gimick on these over priced knives,I love the full tang Bayonet it inspired though!

  • man that knife is a hunk of junk i know ive owned one!

  • What the Fuck are the spikes for, holy niggerized crap, reminds me of when niggers have the moronic large rims, I meen hoops, GMAB

  • That is the most retarded thing I've ever seen.

  • I guess that knife if alright. I wonder if its made in the U.S though. But then again most bucks I seen are made in the U.S I'll stick to my Buck special though since it looks a lot nicer than that.

  • Useless knife, who the hell would use there knife as a anchor

  • now that is a sick knife

  • can you baton with that thing?

  • It looks like a novelty knife. Almost as a joke. I wouldn't get it, although i do like buck knifes.

  • @VertPimpin Its no joke, It was designed for navy seals.

  • @009jorge1 Why would a metal knife handle be used by a military group that's always in the water? it would slip and rust easily. i'm sure that they would have a nylon or petroluim rubber based grip.

  • @VertPimpin Are you retarded? they are not always in the water, they fight in afghanistan how about looking on here. type in Navy Seals in afghanistan.

  • looks cool, weak in practical design though

  • I'd feel like an idiot carrying that knife.

  • That's a lot of money going to a company which advertises it's knives cutting steel; but, voids your warranty... if you try it once. I would only buy a Buck knife at rummage sale prices, they have pretty nice handles for $5 or $10.

  • THE FUCK IS DAT????

  • i have an older edition of this knife and it f**kin rulez

  • that is a sick blade

  • that knife scares the shit out of me

  • lol it looks like a toy

  • @SammyFloydWals

    it is a toy!

  • Steel handle , spikes, saw on a back of a blade.... and they call it a "Survival knife"?

  • pretty hightech but too much 4 a freakin knife

  • thats not a knife thats a fucking sword lol

  • keep the spikes OFF

  • Whats the scew-in spikes for ? .... Spear ?

  • you should just call the video Man holding knife cause this is not a review you dipshit!

  • @blackwidow484 He never even called it a review"DIPSHIT"

  • you should just call the video Man holding knife cause this is not a review you dipshit1

  • ..хороший, мощный нож, жалко что рукоять не с клапаном((

  • FOUND ON EBAY and WTF ??? Item number: 110615872947

  • looks quite impractical

  • @lekingreg dude I agree it's just for looks. If u sharpened it u could use it for fishing but u would look like a fukin idiot

  • useless knife

  • ive seen this before on a different website its based on the movie rambo

  • @jschrank534 you are dam right that was the gayest shit ive ever seen

wtf is up with those wee pointy things up buy the finger gaurd

  • Yea I would never throw that up as a grappling hook...

  • An expensive yuppy toy. Grappling hook? What does it weigh and how much do you want THAT falling back down at you? Many superior knives (Almost anything with a traditional tang vice a hollow handle) for far less money. Like a classic KaBar.

  • Some people have no clue what is a good survival knife, metal, edges, sharpening angles. A simple and little Cold Steel Black Bear Classic Fixed 8-1/4" VG-1 San Mai III Blade would do one billion times better than that knife of yours.

  • Thats the kind of knife an idiot would use. Its gaudy bullshit thats not useful. Do yourself a favor, and buy a kabar. When ur lost in the woods, you'll thank me.

  • This is sad ! Thery (as in Buck) stop make them ! "BOO HOO HOO" OR "SOB SOB".

  • Case is better .

  • @stretto94 anything is better... A ROCK IS BETTER

  • @stretto94 Yes, Case is better...than nothing.

  • @ardvarkkkkk If you want something to play with ,then yes , Case isn't that great . If you are skinning an animal or doing something useful then Case is way better .

  • @stretto94 The first Case that I owned was back in about 1969. They were top of the line at the time. Now, they look good but the steel is hit or miss. I have bought 4 of them in recent years. Three were barely acceptable and one was total junk. I'll never buy another one. There are a number of manufacturers that make a far superior product. BTW. Cold Steel isn't one of them. They make mostly toys anyway.

  • u replied to one of my comments a while ago and u said this knife was not a survival knife mabye you should read the title of your video

  • I had one of those Clubs.

It weighed a ton and wouldn't cut soft shit.

    Still cool though.

  • This is the most un practical blade ive ever seen....

  • i wont carry that think around i rather carry a butterknife around no lie...

  • I just THOUGHT I'd seen it all!!! You gotta be kidding me. This was a practical joke, right? It lookis like someone tried to stab the Incredible Hulk and he just put his hand on it and pushed the guards back about 90 degrees. Hope I run into this guy carrying that knife on my next stop. Push it backwards and stab his ownself.

  • sweet knife

  • What an obscene looking knife. what'd that cost u?

  • This knife was actually created to stack cd's and dvd's along the spine, a cleaning cloth is kept in the handle and the suppossed 'grappling hook' feature was really implemented to hang your car keys on after the knife is hammered into a wall and left there for all eternity.

I don't think galil talks in his post because he's too embarassed at the prospect of being identified as an owner of one of these highly sought after CD/DVD stackers and car key hooks! 8-P

  • @xxHydroponicxx rofl :)

  • @dollerklause - it's out of control isn't it ?!

  • @xxHydroponicxx

indeed :D And your comment makes totally sense, i was like "Ah that what its made for", the only other place i can imagine it being sold is in a toy store as a prop for kids dressed as Rambo at Halloween.. The only application of this knife as a real tool would be to stab bears to death with it, or just wound the animal badly enuf to kill it with your fists, or better yet to unscrew those spikes and attach them to your bassknucles and then beat the bear to death.

  • US Special Forces - K.I.S.S. - Keep it simple stupid.

  • this knife it's in not my style

  • Worst survival knife ever. I would not take that if someone payed me.

  • @ralph66hd why do you think this knife is bad??

  • @KiiNgofTheCastle This knife is built for looks not function, from the hooks on the handle that are able to be removed by two fingers to the useless surrated blade at the last 1/3 of the blade set at an angle, and the giant fake surations on the back of the knife. This was designed to sell to peope who want a cheap RAMBO knife. Also The iconic RAMBO is also a useless piece of shit all built for looks.

  • @ralph66hd rambo knives are cheaper tham this...

  • this would be a good knife to carry if it werent the size of your forearm lol

  • nice not throw your grappeling hook into on to a ledge you ned to climb to rope snaps you have now thrown away your survival tool if the hook fails to catch on something you now have a falling blade comming down towards you... did the designer have a death wish ore was his first name danger...

    middlename: ously....

    lastname: stupid?

  • you suck at reviews

  • i just jizzed in my pants

  • ridiculous.
