Hi I just got one of these about two weeks ago. I just recently changed the substrate to EcoEarth because I realized my old potting soil had pine bark in it. (Oops!) On the first night she dug a little hole (not very deep at all) in the substrate and she was sitting in it in the morning. I thought, "Oh cool she's burrowing!" but the next night she covered it up and has been wandering her cage! Any explanations? (I think she might not like the coconut sticking to her feet...)
@iSpikeKid would think she's just exploring. I don't think there's anything to worry about. I have the majority of my Ts on eco earth, they doesn't seem to bothered by it
Ed, its normal behavior as mine does that too. I wouldn't prevent removing something where she feels safe and secure. If it bothers you, just lift up the cave once in a while and peek at her like I do with my OBT
Wow, she is a beauty! Do you happen to know where I can get one? I'm pretty sure I've checked everywhere, but still nothing under 1" to 2" (which is around the size I'm looking for) Thanks!
that cant be. They must be breeding them like crazy around you, because one ever sells P.metallica adult females for that price. Maybe P,ornata females but 3 inchers P.metallicas here are $400

@Jon3800 Ok , that's what I thought, because the websight I ordered it from says they live 30+ years, so I wanted the correct info

I wonder if the venom of any Tarantula species can be therapeutic? Bee stings help to relieve my arthritis pain.
DrZarkloff 2 years ago
possibly the venom from beginner species, their venom is close to bee stings. Numbness and itching
Jon3800 2 years ago
