@N1cholas240 Sorry but F35 will never get within 200km of a 31 because IADS will not let them. Foxhound will only go into that envelope, at the choosing of their own time & place. Never mind that 31 is already deployed in regiment strength,and F35 is a mad man's wet dream.

@centurion180ad Sorry but the f-35 has jsow-er and jassm-er made to deal with long range IADS. So that out of the question. Now the mig-31 is in large numbers thats because it was built in 1982 while the f-35 is new. And in BVR the mig-31 RCS is about 25m2.

@N1cholas240 So sorry, but for those standoffs to be any good the enemy must be so kind but to radiate from a fixed location. In a real shooting war they aren't going to do that, until MiG-31 is ready to shoot, and SU27s are coming up too. F35 will have to make a choice. Fill its stations with SEAD weapons, and end up getting shot down, or tangle with entire regiments of 31's and get pushed away from whatever land mass they are tyring to project power over.

Due to a Michael Brun version of 1983 KAL Boeing-747 shot-down it has screwed a CAP of US Pacific fleet. In fact it is still a very potent air defence inteceptor. It's radar is so powerfull to outclass anything. It is fastest and still has long range missiles on, while US doesn't have phoenix anymore. Note it's predecessor has first a2a kill in a Gulf War.
