Funny how nowdays they know that any colours in images are most likely not the colour you would see if you went there. Its like the new rover pics they say have distorted colour so they add what they think it looks like. But it's not the true colour

What I said about it being deliberately published to provike reactions from people like you was a joke/ sarcastic comment to provoke people like you to argue with me. However, Mars3me is right - the shadow is almost certainly caused by the long exposure photograph with Phobos. It is also on the equator of Mars - which Phobos orbits. This elongated shadow just misleads very gullible people. What do YOU think the elongated shadow is?

I'm a planetary scientist working at UC Santa Cruz. Those were likely shadows from Phobos itself on the Martian surface - the long time exposure for the photographs taken by the mission would have smeared out the shadow in to a long oval or streak.

What an amazing story. IMO, it is the smoking gun that extraterrestrials exist, and on Mars of all places! Phobos has always been suspected of being an alien moon base since before the 1st probe traveled there. And surely the fact that so many US and Soviet probes were lost on Mars is very suspicious, to say the least.... I recommend that we tell every one whom we know about this incident. It is THE smoking gun, I tell you!

an interesting discussion I had once with a woman who had been working at mission control during the phobos launches. She said that they recieved a strange audio warning over the intercoms warning them that if the probes were sent to phobos they would be destroyed. People just passed it off as someone having a joke but, alas, they lost contact with the probes...

The Soviets lost two probes under the most mysterious of circumstances. If it happens again, we the public will have the largest red flag that something is out there and it doesn't want us exploring Phobos.
