This is not a fake, I saw a lightning flash. I agree that it's hardly visible, but it's possible to notice it. If the environment is too bright, you're often unable to record the flash. I know because I tried to record a thunderstorm with bright clouds but close lightning strikes. So stop yelling that's fake, because you can't prove it.
@prairiestormwx don't waste your time with that bastard he's a 14yr old little punk thinking he's mr know it all that has rugrats as his background. you got a great video of the storm you was in THUMBS UP.
I guess I could make videos of myself popping my joints, or asking if people can do this and make a funny face at the camera. Yeah. That would be a sweet life.
You would think with all the neck cracking you're able to do, every once in a while your head would swing over towards the "Description" section of the youtube videos that you cry all over.
@prairiestormwx great light strike clip. You can't really see the lightning strike unless you look real close at the rear of the parked car there. But you can hear the sparking sound just before the thunder clap!
And as far as that clown "ihavealotoffunnyfavz" he's just your typical youtube troll!!
Good for me being able to read the description on a video, or good for me for not having a camera that can't pick up lightning strikes that happen behind it?
In other words, . unknown to you, (how COULD it have?), you were facing totally the wrong way! :D haha,.. shame,.. sounded VERY close. An impressive sound all the same.
Thats a very good clip actually. Quite often on chases I've experienced a hiss/buzz/click/fizz of the lightning before I actually hear the thunder itself. Clearly picked up here. Something to do with local electrical fields. Damn close bolt, 100m or so.
We were discussing being safe inside a car when lightning hits.. and discussing that the guy sitting in the car was not completely in his car, so he was technically out. And yeah, he got in after that :P
lol i love how your mate rolls into the fetal position and into the car... i think he shit big time, nice sound, sorry you missed the bolt, lightning is camera shy, it only strikes when you take your finger off the button, or change position... bloody stuff lol
I'm sorry I didn't win over your support... I'm heart broken. I realize what a gay move it was now, and won't post anymore videos at risk of upsetting you again. Deepest regrets!
You need to post that vid from a few years ago of the lightning literally almost hitting you, do you still have that vid or don't know what I'm talking about?
Well, it says in the description I wrote and in other comments on here that the bolt was off screen. You can kind of see the reflection of the flash, but the bolt was to my right.
wow even though u didnt catch the bolt thats still awesome. It couldnt of been more than a few yards away. Good old Illinois, if you ever need lightning its here.
I heard a quieter sound before the beast roar, sounded more like a snapping sound, was that the actual lightning already hitting and the roar is just the expanding sound of compressed heat unleashed in the air and ground unleashed everywhere like a corn top cover popped out of a bottle with air pressure lol i can imagine how close that fucking bolt was.
Yeah, the clicking sound is the actual bolt striking which it not usually heard unless you are very close. It's the same noise you hear when your finger gets shocked when you touch something
Too bad you didn't video the actually bolt but cool none the less! There's a Jim Leonard video out there which is like that, you don't actually see the bolt but it hit so close that is made a loud 'snap!'
yer urm...i got the 0:11 bit n 2 the rite bit but i didnt actually see it and id reli like 2 so would u explain it in a diff way or describe mre plz (im blonde) lol xx
THis is one good Clip good job next time have like 3 video cameras all pointing in diff directions thats wat i do so im sure ill never miss one.Cept iv only gottin one close one in my time yup.
During the summer of 2006, I was outside during a thunderstorm, admiring the weather. I was standing in my driveway, when a cloud-to-cloud lightning bolt appeared right above my head. Less than a second beforehand I heard a loud buzz, so I managed to take cover. Luckily for me, it was a cloud-to-cloud bolt. After the bolt I heard the loudest thunder of my life, it shook not only the house, but it shook the whole street.
Nah, he said "you just moved the camera damn it!" because just a second before it struck I adjusted where the camera was pointed. The bolt hit where I originally was filming.
Sometimes you also hear what sounds like a paper bag being torn right before the bolt hits. Back in 1998, I heard such a sound, immediately followed by one of the loudest peals out thunder I've ever heard. I swear, I jumped at least 3 feet straight up in the air when that happened. =|
Wouldn't that snap which precedes the bolt be in fact a positive leader from the ground which (fortunately for you) failed to meet the lightning from the clouds? There's another video on Youtube (look for "Thor's Birthday present") in which you can hear said snap, followed by the lightning bolt visibly and audibly some 800 feet in the distance. Frightening but fascinating.
Too close. Very lucky.

Making my own video of that does not equal copyright infringement. Stealing a video that you made, equals copyright infringement.
