In my opinion bands like spoon have so much more to offer than mainstream pop music which is written by a small bunch of people who always use the same patterns (never change a winning system is their credo). big labels don't take risks nowadays - everything somehow sounds the same! here some bands i'd recomend to u, u might like them or not, just take the risk :-)  wilco, calexico, firewater, the coral...
