This program works great for isolated drums, but is a pretty big pain in the ass when it comes to pre-mixed recordings (like the first example)... it might be better if you were doing linear drumming, but if not, try to get isolated samples and the program can pick them out much easier.
Either that, or someone please tell me what I might be doing wrong?
and not having a good enough recording is BARELY an excuse... if that were the case I wouldn't even use drum replacement...
I feel like a complete and utter noob! I thought this was FOR making drumming sounds; I didn't know you actually had TO already have the drums. Boy am I stupid! lol
I'm looking for a way to transform a audio drum track into MIDI. I tried this one and it seems that I have to manually detect EACH SINGLE note of the drum track, and all that the software will do is put a MIDI note corresponding to the peak I detected. What's the use for??? Aren't they able to make a software that automatically recognizes beats?
@PitchWheel No man, you set a peak threshold and anything above that it detects, so like if you got a snare track, you tell it how low the quietest hits you wanna detect are and it then counts anything louder than that as a hit. Admittedly this works better with a multitrack demo where all the drum parts have their own track.
@PitchWheel It depends... depending where your mics are set up it can be tricky. I've tried it with a stereo track that was pre-mixed, and it's a pain. Mostly it will pick up snare and kick pretty well, because you can set a frequency range and volume range. However, it's a lot easier if you have a multitrack drum recording where the drums are isolated, therefore you only have to rely on the volume range... find out what pitch each drum is and check the settings and it should be a LITTLE better
I've tried the demo and it works just fine. It's very easy. I think anyone here that says it's too hard to learn is just plain impatient. Any software has a learning curve, but this one is a no brainer if you just watch Toontracks tutorials. Once you use it and understand it's easy interface you'll love it. Oh yeah and a $20 special (regular price $149., you can't go wrong period
I bought this on the audimido special, what a complete disappointment. This thing doesn't work all that well, it just doesn't do what they say it will. The Steven Slate Trigger and Drum gog work much better. Maybe they will release a patch to improve it's overall performance.
Still doesn't say whether it has multitrack monitoring for before exporting,
eg, all seperate drumtracks ready for export but you'd like to listen to them all at the same time before conversion, as opposed to one drum track at a time.
This drum re-placer is just way to complex :( it's why it blows, don't waste your money, You need a PHD in software engineering to use it., at least with Drumagog opens in your actual drum track then just click what drum sample you wanna replace from mutiple libraries like BFD ,SSD, etc.. Then tweak on the fly and click and your done. Plus you can other plugins. Wake the f**k up TT where musicians we don't wanna spent hours upon hours learning how to use the product. We wanna play and record.
That's the point moron. It captures the actual drum performance of a real drummer. The program is to beef up or change the the drum sounds or fix bad audio. It a great tool. Open your ears.
"Here's where things get interesting." This is where I became absolutely confused! First you're shown that you can select what appears to be a *representative sample* of each beat, but then the entire track has been magically marked-up so that *all beats* have been identified. Obviously something is missing here. Does the software expect that you manually mark-up *each beat?* If so, how would this save any time over just drawing the beats with midi notes?!
If you want to convert midi information into "real" drum sounds you can download ez drummer or addictive drums to replace your midi info into real sampled sounds.
Tell me that I dont have to select o light EVEVRY hi hat, or kickdrum or snare...y tried with the demo and I cant find out how to do the render without make that impossible task!!
you could find easier example!!!

I recon this software is awesome! You need patience not a PHD, 2nd best software investment i have made!! (next to superior 2.0).
At first I thought its a tad full on but after getting familiar with the short cuts and stuff its awesome!!

Not only is this extremely easy, it's a lot more accurate than Drumagog. You may just be dumb.

I own both products
Drumagog tracks dead on perfect, maybe your dumb. Drumagog beats this POS software hands down.

If i record all the drums toghether and i have to convert them to midi it would be usefull for me?
ManuelValenciaRH 3 years ago
yes, you will need to pinpoint where the hit is on the wave form.
imaginarytube 3 years ago
Each one?
ManuelValenciaRH 3 years ago
the first bar on the mixed waveform is a kick with a Hi hat and not only a kick.
Haw can this be marked together?
Nice application though
