BF never focused on singleplayer the first BF games started out without singleplayer modes, all their attention was towards the multiplayer experience and that's why its storyline is not that great.

CoD was awesome when it came out because of it's storyline. they did not really focused on multiplayer, they just did it as basic as it can be.

But as you said, CoD is WAY more fast paced than BF. It comes to ppls preferences, whether they want to have an intense match shooting ppl almost all the time, or whether they want to be more strategical and patient. BF matches can too get pretty intense in Closed quarters if ppl start playing more aggressive. So just enjoy the games pplXD

@totallylamerobot I think I would agree with people skipping the campaign. I played CoD since World at War (which had tanks!) and only ever played that plus MW2's single-player though never finished them. And those times I played the campaign was because the net was down otherwise I was mostly on multiplayer. I really get the CoD games for friends and they are playing it for the multiplayer component rather than for the story. Never played BF so can't comment on that.

If you game mostly on pc I would think CoD deserves some of the criticism since activision/treyarch haven't really put out a solid release for it since CoD4, while BF is sort of the same way for consoles. I'll just wait for CS:GO

The thing with the PC ver. of BF3 is that it's more about controlling territory than racking up the kills. If you just run out into the open, you easily get picked off. You have to play more methodically, stay prone or stay in cover to move around.

But the console ver. of BF3 plays out more like CoD because of the controls. It's much harder to snipe someone who just runs into the open, so you can't punish the CoD playstyle on a console. A lot people will end up thinking of BF3 as a CoD-clone.

Counter Strike GO will be better then MW3, you can't compare CS to BF tho because of how different it is, CoD is kinda like CS but with Killstreaks, CS GO will be more of a competitive game then CoD tho, CoD titles die off within a year or two while both CS titles are still going strong after almost a decade..

It's a matter of what you feel more comfortable with, not necessarily preference. I feel like Battlefield caters to gamers who are a little more skilled than the average person, maybe even borderline 'hardcore.' I would always shy away from BF2 when it first came out because I'd go 2 - 35 every game lol. Definitely a game that can provide some of the most fun you've had in a game as long as you can manage. CoD's a little easier to play - smaller maps, less teamwork required, perks, etc. ilCod :)

Why do people keep talking about Battlefield being "new" and "fresh"? These are CoD fanboys embittered by yet another failed Treyarch CoD, who have NEVER played Battlefield to begin with. I prefer Battlefield due to the completely destructible environments. Sure you can shoot through some walls in CoD but it's annoying to get shot at and the person duck behind something invincible. I get bored to CoD games easily. I played Bo and Mw2 little over first prestige and i stopped. But i have played 160h+ and its still interesting because you have more options about how to play. I still like Singleplayer and Spec ops/Zombies in CoD games but i find multiplayer boring after first prestige.

Bf3 has larger maps but there will be 64 players, at least on the pc soo it makes it more fast paced.

There will be a team deathmatch mode, that is gun on gun like cod, but it will be played in a small section of the match. Bf3 has a more variety soo I think it will be better, I've played cod but I'm tired of having always the same thing, yes is fun but needs something new.

What bothers us over at The72Pins more about the comparisons is that neither game is out and they don't even have demos that are playable to the public. To compare two games based on advertising is a really dumb idea. You're wasting your time and energy.

To me it's like comparing Rugby and American Football. They're similar, but they have different appeals, fans, strategies and tactics. You can cross over as a fan from one to the other and appreciate the changes.

That's what I love about COD, the non-stop craziness ... sometimes I'll get an adrenaline rush if I start getting a huge killstreak ... I'll start freaking out and panicking a little. My nerves get to me and my hands will shake after the match if it's really intense, but it's so much fun ... those are the best matches.

@totallylamerobot This is definitely one of the pros for COD: The pace is so much higher. Getting nukes in MW2 has always been one of the biggest adrenaline rushes I have indoors :P. BF on the other hand offers a more slow-paced game, but makes you feel good about a kill (I know, it sounds cruel, but you know it's true), while in COD, you just go: "Ow, just killed 3 guys, okay."

They're both great series, and I really enjoy both of them. It's a shame college will demand more time :P.

EA release awesome stuff all the time. battlefield play for free, battlefield heroes, loads of updates etc. when did infinity ward do any of those things? as people before me said, they are all about money.

Thing is, Activision simply don't give a fuck about producing a good game, they care about money, that's all. Example: What was that piece of shit RC car they created for black ops? It was a cheap, tacky toy with a poor camera. For the price they sold that at I could easily buy a hobby grade RC, gas powered engine, 40MPH+, the lot.

A good portion of their fan base are sheep, they'll just keep buying anything that has Call of Duty written on and Activision will just keep ripping them off.

Having...played both. They really are completely different. Call Of Duty has turned into a more arcade like fast paced title. Where as Battlefield has really become that, a 'battlefield' and a realistic war simulator (with obvious limitations to still allow the game to be FUN), graphically MW3 cannot compare. However the upgrades and up rez they have done to the engine as a whole from MW2 is simply beautiful. MW3 has added some stuff to compete like the Spec Ops, and Spec Ops Survival.

The thing is it feels like Activision is just re-skinning everything and dishing it out coz they have this mammoth fanbase. Like I can't believe they're still using the same cheap grenade SFX lol and their newest, and so far only addition to gameplay is combining scopes. Meanwhile, among other things, Battlefield is making it so that support gunfire is actually useful because it will blur enemy vision...

All that said though I'm not hating the players, I'm hating the game. =P

I agree with you completely. and as for another point where people say Call of Duty is repetitive, than they have not obviously not played any other games, many game series tend to be the same thing over and over again, one of the best examples I can think of are sports and racing games, i'm not hating on them but it seems the same every year except for new plays and players on teams or new cars tracks and modes respectively. I'll be getting both and enjoying them.
