Glen picks up the drama and rocks it. Lot of banter on DDY being theaterish. Well now there's a Rock of Ages stage production and who's cashing in? not Dennis but I seen Tommy and Kevin(REO) Cronin getting paid!! so maybe Dennis saw a market, Kilroy was justa moment and now we move on, it's not their final act, not till their dead. We want mre Styx and Glen,Larry are moments it's,All good, stop the hate!
This song is about john ponnozo dying, and dennis fucking up the band, admit it you dennis lovers, he was ruining styx, with hs love songs and theatre performances
Nope, it was about Michael Jackson getting into trouble on child molestation charges for the second time. 1. Listen to the lyrics near the beginning about the kids again. 2. On a Michael Jackson album that came out just before this one, there is a clip about a kid playing rock too loudly and his dad yelling at him, and then on the Styx album where this appeared the track just before it was almost identical. 3. The lyrics about everyone gets to go around one time -- talking about musicians.
glen burtnik was all over the place when i saw this live, he was on the stage then he was in the crowd, then back on stage and he had on an awesome hat. my favorite styx concert had to be this one at the xcel and i've seen them a few times lol
Probably right. Guess its sort of like a messy divorce. Everyone's at fault to a degree. In this case the custody of the 'kids' happened to be the songs and the bands name. Well, hope everyone made peace. And hope both Styx and DDY keep rockin.
See a lot of comments back and forth concerning DeYoung. This Styx is definately a different band than the one from the 70s and 80s. Its not worse or better, just different. Styx fans who grew up on Deyoung's come sail away type songs had trouble adjusting and I think the present line up attracts people with a little different musical taste. My only problem was that when Dennis got sick with that goofy virus Young and Shaw jumped at the chance to boot him out instead of supporting him.
yes... but there is more to the story than that. it goes way beyond them "booting" him. dennis isn't an innocent victim here. and since the terms of the settlement will remain burried, we'll never know exactly what transpired. but i'm sure there are at least 3 or 4 sides to this story.
They have gotten bigger just this year with there Grand Illusion/Peices of Eight tour. If they kept Dennis, they wouldn't be around today. His music was way to theater-ish. I'm just saying, no hate. I just know how the new generation is, i'm 16 and I love the OLD and the NEW. But A lot of the young people like the harder rock.
@DSmith99000 Styx did what it had to do to survive. These days inthe music biz you have to get yourself out there or forget it. I think Styx was tired of Dennis' whining all the time. Besides, Dennis' stuff sounded too much like show tunes, not rock & roll. Styx needed the change.
No Dennis was the band...Not saying he is the best no I am not saying that. I know he ruined the band but he kept Styx alive for all those years and got them started with Lady and Lorelei
If he wouldn't have gotten power hunger then they would still be together
Regardless how anybody feels about Dennis Deyoung, this is not a quality song. It really is blaringly terrible and I hope Styx can release an actually decent CD soon.
ok DoctorAxe....almost every vid I have watched about Styx......you have left a comment saying that they suck without DDY....they rock without DDY....he was always standing behind a keyboard or prancing around the stage like a little leprechaun....Gowan is less gay......thats why people like him.....so just stop watching these vids without him if you dont like Gowan....or Glen....just dont...
P.S: DDY is not gay....in case anybody got the wrong message...
@Galactimus138 but he does tend to give that appearance during his performances. (then again, so do shaw and young, and we still love both of them as well.)
the short version: he wanted to spend less time on the road and more time with his family, and would have liked a bit more creative input on band stuff.
I wish Styx did performances like this once in a while. That is pretty awesome :)

As far as as I presume, D D Y was the fellow who wrote progressive lyrics such as Suite Madam Blues, etc.
without him the band ain't the same and, he seemed progressive, not this and that

@NoTyOuRaVeRaGeKeViN wrong, this was written about a close friend of glen burtnik's dying suddenly, it had nothing to do with styx. nice try!

No. Not written for DeYoung. A great song that the band SHOULD have made the first single from Cyclo.

I still think the chorus "tune" sounds a lot like the chorus "tune" on Damn Yankee's "where you going now"
