Its sad to lose this chunk of history, but it had to be done, these buildings had turned into cancer. There's been plenty we've destroyed that shouldn't have, plenty that's been destroyed that I felt needed to go, but I'm about 50-50 on this, would have been nice to save the original middle building and demolish the rest, but there's just no one with money to do so. If we've to blame anyone for those lost of history, its Mike Slavin who drove his family's business straight into the ground.
John I'm 34, and grew up in Massena, but moved away when I was 20. I really enjoy your videos. It's good to see what's going on back home. Keep up the good work!
@tremundo4 thanks....and hopfully i will be experimenting with some comedy in the future again away from massena videos...we will see..i have good vids and then others that bomb. but that's YTland.
Wow! That was intense. This is very good. You are a good film maker, because you get me interested in things that I shouldn't care about! Someone should get that stained glass window!!! I'm with Bear, it's sad to see them tear down a piece of history! "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot!" -Joni Mitchell

Forget Slavins. Wal-mart, Home Depot have that problem solved...

@bundangbear another massena saga over? time for more park bench dudes filming!

@johnswackyworld There is something surreally violent about the destruction of a building, especially one so steeped in history.
This is great work, John, and reminds me of "Roger and Me," and tells the tale of so many towns in the North Country.
Last one out, turn the lights off.

@bundangbear and soon i'm sure another building will be demolished in massena. it might be the historical baptist church next! built in 1853. ugg
