Why did Simon and the judges put him through all the rounds to become one of the top 12.....then proceed to tell the boy he COULDN'T SING. I find that very wrong. Sanjaya has a kind heart, and at 17 he sang this song fairly well.

I don't watch American Idol, but I tuned in to catch a couple of Sanjaya's performances (this one and "Steppin' Out With My Baby") just because I wanted to see what the joke was all about. And frankly, I don't get it. I mean, I was expecting some William Hung-like buffoon. This kid, at the very least, is a competent vocalist, and I think he can really be pretty good at times.
