The lyrics are easily cheesy, but I think that adds to the appeal. And despite being cheesy, the message of the song is really strong, reminiscent of the original Bill and Ted films. I haven't seen the musical, but from listening to this song, it's hard to believe that it didn't do well in the US.

This song is surprisingly good.
