Since YouTube has exploded the last couple of years, there's a big gap between the featured videos on the front page and the actual cool content on the site. There are some big names out there who are creative, I find. I cannot stand the raywilliamjohnson-type crap. Even tobuscus these days is just a copy of America's Funniest Home Videos, to be honest. But then you've got freddiew, vlogbrothers, with fresh consistent content. Anyway, just my taste. :)

I don't know why you impose these time limits on yourself. If it's because you don't want the videos to become boring? They're not, as long as you've good stuff to talk about and you almost never fail there so I'd say, forget about 60sec and make 'em as long as you want. Look forward to the stories from your work. Should be good :)

I agree 100% with what ur sayin about the current state of youtube.....its really sad to see what its become and how its all about advertising nowadays.....it sounds crazy but youtube changed my life in 2006.....It definitely went down hill when the "partner program" got started.

Freddie W, Julian Smith, Rhett and Link, charlieissocoollike, communitychannel, Epic Meal Time, GoodNeighborStuff, hexachordal, jonlajoie, and so many more popular youtubers are making amazing, quality content. Just because they aren't making the next Kiwi doesn't mean what they are making is not impressive.

you can tell how they beg for subs and comments, they ask people generalized questions as if they are going to actually read through thousands of comments, they do it just for more comments to boost their vids in the rankings and whatnot

RWJ has no content of his own, I'll agree with you that he's a puppet. However, at the same time Freddie Wong is getting way up there and his stuff is (in my opinion) really good.

As for keeping a schedule, it doesn't always have to be a vlog for 60 seconds (again, in my opinion). 60 seconds of those shenanigans at work you do (that video of your friend with the thing near his crotch was hilarious). I know I can't really talk to much because I don't do this at all yet.
