  • It's all a matter of taste, and money, but these are two completely different cars. I will say this though, an Evo can do anything a Mustang can do, but without all wheel drive, the Mustang can't do the same as an Evo and thats just a fact. Rain, track, snow, the Mustang will not perform the same, but in a straight line, that's what Mustangs do best and for cheap. With an Evo the possiblities are much greater but sometimes at a greater cost. Both are legends and the debate will never end.

  • @afgandominator Money? Lol I have 600hp and it cost me 2500 bucks. Let's see a Evo make 600 wih 2 grand. Plus power alone isn't the only factor, weight and gearing is also an issue. My mustang weighs just under 3300 lbs! That's 300 lbs lighter than a gt! I can also turn boost up to 18 psi which means I will be making 700-750 and it will only cost me 90 bucks for a pulley and 100 bucks for a tune.

  • @cademcnown25 Do not insult me. I have been racing cars for 15 years. I have over 650 HP in my car right now and i put it down with no issues. its all about suspension. My 60 ft time is 1.6, lets see a 300 whp evo try to keep up with me. I also have less rotational mass, i dont lose as much HP. Evo's have to spin 4 axles, rims, and tires, i have to spin only 2! I also have a lightweight aluminum driveshaft. You should learn before you speak.

T/C Mustangs on low boost are making in the area of 500whp, S/C for the Mustang range but 5psi on a 4.6 2005+ GT makes about 400 to the wheels....guaranteed 12 second car. But to each their own. Not to mention in a blizzard you're just as screwed as the mustang in your evo. All of your points are either false, invalid, and generally misinformed. But if you like Evo's then it's your choice.   • @PFCTurner311 IDC that it is all wheel drive. It still runs very low profile tires which wouldn't get much grip. Not to mention that in anything over 5" the Evo is just as fucked. I drove my last Mustang clean through winter with no problem...on BF Goodrich all season 235/50/18 ZR factory tires. Evo's are too low to the ground and your tires will lose pliability just like any tire. Thus traction issues and driveability issues. Blizzard=7-12"s where I'm from...good luck with that argument

Examples, a 2008 Evo with has a NADA retail cost of 26K while 2008 Mustang GT with 60000 miles is 20K. 2010 EVO 32K, Mustang GT 26K, etc....6K should cover a S/C and apparently, as shown here, puts a 4.6 Mustang just over an Evo. A S/C on a new 5.0 would murder an evo....

  • @Punisher7121 Don't forget the Evo is an AWD rally car that is a wondeful on a strip, in the snow, on a dirt road, and on a track. I don't usually see that many mustangs with so much diversity. They're usually stuck on a hill when it snows or stuck in a ditch.

It was bottom line that the price difference in the pre 2011 Mustang GT and Evo allows you to SC the Mustang and have it run with the Evo without spending more than cost of the Evo itself.   • Boss 302 is more than competitive with the evo, has better looks (subjective) and the tire chains are for snow only, not asphalt. Mitsubishi would be happy to sell one tenth of the monthly sales of the Mustang. Don´t you think that if the evo was so good more people would be flocking to buy it? Guess not. Mustang > evo.

The EVO's are called the Terminators of the Import world for a reason. Get a Tuned up EVO put it against a Mustang with twice the displacement and tuned and see who wins. STOCK, the mustang has the advantage in quartermiles on asphalt but when turns are put in, cars, weather conditions etc..the Mustang is going to be staring at the EVO's taillights.

However, I am a fan of the EVO's because 1) They are amazing tuner cars and generate some ridiculous G-forces, not to mention the S-AWD 2) The look of the car I find to be very appealing and I like that I have 4 doors and performance 3) Price is spot on and Legend in Rally Racing. Are Mustangs fast? Yes.. what with a v8 isn't? EVOs are overall a better car ..

Also pay attention to that list every single car above the evo on that list is at least 5 grand at a minimum or more then the evo...the evo is a beast of a car and a great deal for what it can do. I have one my self and i know my buddys supercharged mustang GT cant keep up with me in turns

  • @raptorman1632 Look up car and drivers Lightning lap a $30k mustang GT ran 3:08.6 and the EVO ran 3:10.6 The GT is way less expensive and spanked it @ VIR.

    What's funny is that the V6 Mustang which cost less than $22k also ran 3:12.5 with the speed governor set 112mph Much faster than the old EVO MR which laps VIR 3:13.3. A supercharged Mustang isn't the best for the circuit if it's not balanced correctly but on the street where it counts you'll get walked on.

  • @museman007 Actually, the EVO stock boost is 19.5psi, not 15. And a stock EVO X runs mid-high 13s in 1/4, and a stock 05-10 Mustang GT runs mid 13s naturally aspirated, stock. Bolt ons and it can go 12s easy, with no supercharger. Also, that Evo wasn't stock, but still lost. That's part of racing. Everyone loses at some point.

  • @TheNolimits21 Well, it doesn't take the Evo X FQ300 much to break 400bhp. All it needs is bolt-ons and a good tune, lol. But the Evo could've had a smoother launch. I own a X myself, next week, I'll have my FP Black set up (~GT35R BB). Going to MIR for the Import vs Domestic face off.

    But I have to say that the Mustang did a better job on that run.

  • @DeAdissu3 I bought a lq9 6.0 GMT engine the design is great except one thing the put a not so great cam and springs. I changed it to a 581/588 lift and better valve springs. I wool add 2 turbos from the Volvo t5 wagon. Look up twin turbo Ute"on you tube GM's el Camino.they're selling it as a Holden over sea. It rocks

It takes serious upgrades to an Evo X, which really doesn't fit anywhere since it's slower on any kind of track than the Evo 8 and 9, to beat bolt on mustangs in outright acceleration. But it works the same way for a road course. Sorry, but it's true. Put a 380hp EVO against a stock 00 Cobra R on a road course and see what happens. The R will walk away from it, straights, turns, everywhere. So don't kid yourself into thinking mustangs can't handle.

The suspension is stiffer, the tires are more aggressive, and it needs all these electronic gadgets, but still gets raped around a road course by a solid axle, rear wheel drive, 3700lb mustang. That's just plain facts. It's not track dedicated. The Dodge Viper ACR-X is track dedicated. The Boss 302 is not. Neither was the 2000 Mustang Cobra R, and it is still the best handling mustang made yet. No R comp tires on them either.

  • @007gir Technically it's not. If you look at an Evolution VII, VIII, IX or X, you can tell they have nothing to do with rally. In the 1990s it was required for any automaker to enter a vehicle in WRC competition, they had to sell a vehicle with the same features to the public. This is why we got turbocharged 2.0L, AWD compact cars with water sprayers and multi-setting differentials. In 1999-2000 the WRC got rid of that requirement, and since then, EVO's and STI both got lower and stiffer.

  • @007gir And as I'm sure you're aware, low ground clearance and stiff suspension is not very good on loose gravel, bumpy roads. Just look at a picture of an EVO VI compared to an EVO IX. Or even a Ver. V STi compared to today's STi. The EVO VI/Ver.5 STi both sit much higher and don't have the big 17" wheels because you didn't want 17" wheels with no sidewall on gravel.

Show me a car that can drive in any condition (some say even better on snow), carry a family, hit 100km/h in under 5 seconds for less than 40,000$ ? Not even addressing the 10yr warranty. (not including the sti's, they are nice too). EVO > Mustang. I am surprised the Mustang won.

  • @Gabedaman30 add some tire chains.... oh ya, def legal on asphalt and rwd is great in the snow *rolls eyes.* Mustangs aren't even close to evos handling wise and need twice the displacement to even keep up with an evo. Last time I checked a Super AWD 4cylinder vehicle doesn't get put beside a rwd v8. evo's > mustangs

  • @sanju2 actually the newer mustang are the best bang for the buck when it comes to american muscle, just a little work and you can have it ready for the dragstrip, or the road course, or drifting or what ever the fuck you wanna do

  • @YelIowMamba Already did, the mustang 5.0 beat the EVO and the STI by quite a bit in Car and Drivers lightning lap with professional drivers so theres no excuse there. It didnt even come close to the GT500 and the 302 BOSS comes out soon and thats built for the track, much better handling, cornering, take off, and top speed than the 5.0.

    In terms of power, of course the Mustang GT500 or 302 BOSS would outperform the EVO and STI at the track. But the power output of the EVO X alone is amazing for its class. Mitsubishi is planning on making the EVO XI by 2013, which will be electric hybrid diesel lol.

  • @CyberGTX09 In terms of power and track racing, the new GT has them beat as well, according to reviews and test drives. The EVO is a great car dont get me wrong, its highly engineered and thats why it costs so much for a 4 banger whereas the 5.0 with a 4v V8 is much cheaper, faster, comes with a whole range of interior comforts, and all its missing is Forced Induction. In terms of performance for dollar, the mustang has the evo beat, just wait for the 302 which is built for cars like the X

  • @AgentStyles Lol I own a Evo X. I've also driven several other sports cars. The turbo is actually very small. You must not know much about turbo cars or cars that are forced induction.

  • @labrados12345 a s/c mustang costs 35k lol what the hell are you talking about..well that particular S197 in the video might have been a 05 06 mustang GT so it isnt nearly 35k(unless it was a 2009 GT in which i still dont believe its that much)..they are in the 15-20k range with considerably LOW mileage 2 years ago(around the time you made the comment you did) and a whipple s/c cost about 6500(not including labor) so thats about the same price as you got your evo

  • @sixDUMBbeaners depends on what you are going for man looks wise probably the camaro but i think the mustang looks just as good i just dont like the antenna. but for performance mustang all the way the new 5.0 is just beast

  • Wow lol evo doesn't have nitrous it's called a TC car running rich=safe. Obviously has CF front fenders and an exhaust. def not stock clutch or it would have slipped more. Diff wheels and it's sitting lower so springs or coilovers one. Good job mustang! from an evo x owner
