Take into account the fact that the US fought the vast majority of the pacific war itself. Take then into consideration that Britain came out of the war broke, while the US came out of it richer than ever, it's safe to say the US won.

@Cycleian I am not American, but according to the historian Steven Ambrose on 'World At War' (Granted he was American), he said the US supplied up to 80% of the personnel and materiel, as opposed to 20% for the other combined allies. Take into account the fact that the US fought the vast majority of the pacific war itself. Take then into consideration that Britain came out of the war broke, while the US came out of it richer than ever, it's safe to say the US won.

@Johnzoil - Most historians have little respect for Ambrose. I think you'll find that the Russians bore the brunt of the European war. Britain was skint at the end of the war because we kept democracy alive in Europe for 3 years by ourselves whilst the yanks sat on the fence. Not a single bomb dropped on us soil in the WWII other than Pearl Harbour so you got off lightly. Be grateful. I would also stop believing ever hollywood film you see. As for authors try Antony Beaver or Max Hastings.

i've fought alongside americans myself, we got in a firefight with 2 taliban snipers and RPG's we had 3 american MARINES in our convoy 2 of them broke down crying and begging for air support while the other was unconsious. and TUIONOP we didnt need ur help in ww2 and ur so called " powerfull country " didnt end ww2, you cant get out of a war (VIETNAM). so dont you dare fucking call us brits !!!
