Actually this is the alternate previuosly unreleased stereo version from the Beyond the Blue Horizon album and is slightly different. The date listed for this song on that album is 1963 and the original from the Best of Lou Christie album shows 1966 but I think both versions were recorded in 1963. One glaring difference is this version the backup vocals are louder.
I was lucky enough to buy this 45 in the local record store which had catered to the 45 trade (and just a few years before my time had both 78s and 45s LPs were a sidetrack Things were change fast though the downtown stores began to be boarded up and then came urban renewal. There were record stores after that but they were either catering to LPs or the Blacks stores hasd only R&B which I liked but Lou Christie couldn't make it
I love this one also but what song of his is not to LOVE! "I'M gGonna Makee You MIne","Lightnin StrikingAgain" "Pledging My Love" and "Christmas in New York"are on the top of my list as well as his "Non So Perche"! He just keeps them coming Thank God!!!!! Thanks Brent441 once again for sharing!
Originally on the pittsburgh label co & ce records this along with all that glitters isnt gold were two great songs.lou sister amy is singing background.....
Personally I like this song. This along with "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" are two of his best. It'll grow on you... "the gates will open up wide" "Woo"! And just where are those gates?

The things this talented man can do with his voice are incredible. This song is one of the best examples!

The mono single mix of this song is much stronger-sounding.

It was recorded in 1963, but not released until 1966.

There's nothing wrong with this sound. It comes on strong as it moves along.

Now this is a completely DUMB song ! Not a good introduction to LOU's work if a younger person knows nothing about him.
I don't think LC even sings this one anymore.
At least, I HOPE NOT !!!
