  • I was disapointed that this came up when I was searching for videos about Bill Shankly as this has nothing to do with him. Its easy to take pot shots at the bible by plucking verses out of their original context and mocking them but if you are going to convince the millions of Christians around the world to change their ways you will have to come up with a more convincing explanation of how evil came into the world and how to deal with it. Something which I have never heard any athiest do.

  • So if the Bible is such a hotpotch, how does it foretell the future so accurately, and then we see it fulfilled in minute detail? Psalm 22, Isaiah 45, Daniel 11, and many more. It's impossible for man to foretell the weather tomorrow accurately, but the Bible tells us names and details that are later written into history.

  • I'm not really sure if this nonsense is worthy of a reply! I'm guessing that you're joking right?

  • @shankly4 I don't understand 'joking'. Psalm 22 predicts Jesus' death on the cross in graphic detail, 1,000 years before it happened. Etc. If you start with the assumption that the supernatural is not possible, then of course you end with the conclusion that God doesn't exist. How about opening yourself to the possibility of the supernatural, then asking if there is any evidence for it, then finding out 'who' might have caused it to happen?

  • @mthompsoNZ How do you know it was written 1000 years before his death? Maybe one of the later revisionists just made it look that way. You know, Adolf Hitler rewrote the history books and changed events.

  • @Theoneandonlykop Well, I don't 'know' that it was 1,000 years, I have faith that it was. However, we 'know' from history that Psalm 22 was translated into Greek around BC 300 - will that do for being a statement that there is a God who created time and space, and is therefore outside it, is Lord over it, and can therefore see the future as easily as we see across the road?

PS: I used to stand at the Anfield Rd end, except I had one wonderful night with my Dad on the Kop. 'right der Ace!

  • @mthompsoNZ so did the mayan calender is that too be taken as gospel too

  • Please remove this video of your own free will.

You have insulted a great many people by falsely attributing to him something he did not in fact say.

  • Please for goodnes sake read the reasons why I posted this video - I'm getting fed up with having to reply to morons who can't or won't read the previous posts and my reasons for posting. In the words of the late, great Bill Hicks - OK you're a Christian - then forgive me

  • So tired of these donks that read a book and suddenly talk trash.

Lets be honest it was hardly a great revelation...many people bash religion.

The problem with Dawkins and Hitchens is they make easy money ridiculing religion yet fail to understand its importance in society and civilization.

Without religion you have tyranny....without religion man would still be breaking skulls with clubs and making houses with spit whilst raping their offspring.Religion saved humanity it cannot be denied

  • That's fucking blasphemy lad

  • Tawn!

Here we go adain. Read the previous posts please.

  • Yawn!

I don't think many want to read your previous posts. They came here drawn by Shankly. Not your bollocks agenda.

  • Yes there is. Go look at the poxy little members groups from all over the world. Makes me laugh.

  • No mate. I don't belong to any poxy groups like being an Atheist etc. All a load of old shite if you ask me.

Believe what you want. It's just people now try and make a living out of it via books and videos. Dawkins a perfect example. Same with the poxy Catholic church

  • Well, being an athiest isn't a 'group' - you can't really have a group of people who don't believe in something can you? It's just a tag given to people who don't believe in god - there aren't any rules or laws, simply a lack of belief in the supernatural

  • @shankly4

Very limited logic...it was a very small group of people that didn't believe in a flat earth was it not.

Creationists don't believe in evolution.Neither do i,at least not in the interpretation of its mechanics.

I care only for empirical evidence everything else is conjecture.

For instance i have a great distrust of the processes involved when we can clearly see that there are numerous organisms that don't appear to have evolved at all in over 100million years.

  • @philbo1965uk Creatures only evolve when neccesary to adapt to there surroundings or to defend themselves against predators. Those organisms that you mention are in no danger and are happy being what they are, if something ain´t broke then why fix it?

  • @Theoneandonlykop

    Thats a total cop-out.

Are you seriously saying that environment has not changed drastically for the last 100 million years ?

You do know we have had ice ages amd climate change many times ?

Are you seriously claiming a primitive fish like Coelacanth is sooo well adapted to ALL the changing environments that it has never been affected .Yet all modern fish evolved are genetically inferior ? the runts !

Insanity my friend loool, evolution by definition never stops !

  • Disgraceful to use Shanklys picture for your own agenda. Twat.

  • Firstly, how many times do I have to explain that I'm not making any statements about Bill Shankly's beliefs. Secondly, I assume you are a Christian? Forgive me!

  • @shankly4 Remove the picture of Bill Shankly or we will just get the video removed for you.

  • Listen mate....this isn't anti-religious it's anti-christian. And to use the name of the great Bill Shankly is sacrilege. The basis of Christianity is all about helping those less fortunate than yourself and sharing with others which was Bill Shankly's whole ethos. If you'd spouted this about muslims you'd be accused of stirring up racial hatred. If you don't believe, fair enough........but try to respect other people's faiths and creeds. Remember...respect.

  • If you care to read my previous comments, you'll see I'm not intending to imply that my views reflect those of Bill sahnkly.

If you care to actually read the God Delusion, you would see that Prof Dawkins comments are aimed at all religions, not just Christianity - I'm an equal opportunities non-believer, I don't believe in your god, and I also don't believe in the Muslim's god, the Hindu's god or the sun god worshipper's god..

  • I also decided to name myself after the great Bill Shankly, but I am definitely not a believer in religion. I also thought first that the actual Bill Shankly had read something.

  • shanklybg thats your opinion lad,

  • I'm sure both Shankly and Paisley had christian views - it would be surprising if someone with their backgrounds didn't.

The quote was originally read as part of a 'post your accent' thread of the Richard Dawkins forum, where my user name is Shankly, so I used a picture of the great man whilst I read a passage from Prof Dawkins book. I was not trying to imply that Bill Shankly held these views

  • I know from first hand account that Bill Shankly converted to Christianity shortly beofre his death. Bob Paisley was also a Christian believer.

  • so true, shanks was a legend, there is no god. atheism and a great manager go hand in hand, if there is or was a god it was bill shankly and bob paisley, not some twat who thinks its ok 2 kill people 4 working on sundays or selling children into slavery.

  • shankly knew!

  • Exactly!

We should have move on a long time ago.

  • veddy niiiiice! :)
