I am in AWE!! An MIT math professor (legendary by association, no less!!) is generously presenting this essential course in an "informal" manner - I respect the effort, and appreciate the opportunity to learn from this incredibly gifted individual! thank you, Sir!!
Thanks a lot Mr. Strang and all the team, I am a working professional from India New Delhi who left his studies a long time ago , but i have learnt a lot from your videos, will be starting my maths honors degree next summer. Love from India :)
im a software engineer and i must say, mathematics taught around the world usually "misses the point" that why even do what you're doing and the way you're doing it?! i mean nobody tells us how maths relates to our daily life!
yes, education should be free like this. I really love gilbert strang. He is a fucking genius. i love his lecture about linear algebra. i love math, love g. strang. Good work!!
Words cant express the importance OCW has in my life. I'm 15, I love math, physics, computation etc. My biggest desire in life is to go to MIT. That's probably impossible since I'm from Brazil, I'm not rich enough to buy lots of books I'd love to read nor have support for living in a foreign country. Still, if I can't get to MIT, MIT comes to me. Thanks MIT, Gilbert Strang, Walter Lewin and all other professors and staff from OCW. Not everyone can understand how beautiful this act is. Thank you.
@MrBTie I am 15 as well, and I love math too, my school doesnt challenge me enough so i am forced to go youutube to learn calculus! I wish you good luck for MIT, doesn't matter where your from if u have a dream and work hard, it will come to you
Thank you very much Mr Strang for these tutorials. I'm 43 now and was very poor at maths when I was at school. Even now I find maths very hard to understand. However now after getting back into my electronics hobby am I at a point were maths is showing up to be very important.
I have started watching your lectures and find your enthusiasm and skill in explaning things very none pressurising and an enormous help to someone like me who has trouble with maths.
Hello and thanks for amazing Linear Algebra and Calculus lectures. I wish there will be such amazing lectures from Combinatorics, Probability, Statistics with Strang or Jerison.
This guy once saved my butt in an engineering math exam - I pretty much messed up everything...except for the linear algebra part which I mastered very well thanks to 18.06 on OCW... :-)
Hi Professor Strang, i don't know what happened this year i felt in love with Maths since i've watch the Tv show "Numbers",all episodes 4 times!! ,strange because i wasn't really a math guy! i already have a 3yr bachelor degree in software engineering, i'm on the way to start a bachelor degree course in Mathematics next month. During these 3 month,i've seen a lot of calculus videos(2 hrs of math videos everyday), but yours are what give me the Big Picture.Thank!! so much for your videos.
I'm using this as a kind of motivation for my little sister.
She's going into Geometry when she enters the 9th grade, but I took it upon myself to try to teach her, to bring her even further ahead of the pack than she already is, for her own sake. I hope to be able to use MIT's OCW to help in this process.
Thank you MIT and Gilbert Strang for your wonderful lectures,
I love your classes Professor Strang! I have attended all the "algebra" classes and have been really useful and now I am so gland you have done these calculus videos!
I'm Studying Mechanical Engineering At A University In Texas ( Real Big One, Got Texas In The Name, Hint Hint) And The Professors There, Especially The Math Dept. Really Just Don't Care. I Gotta Say, I Envy Those MIT Kids, Thank You Professor Strang For Your Help!
we are watching .you from Brazil and Peru in south America , thank for share your time, knowledge with us .. it is a great contribution with the world society .thank a lot professor Strang and MIT
If it hadn't been for open course-ware like this, I wouldn't have had the nerve to try learning math again. The college courses I tried years ago just moved too quickly for me. These online video lectures can be paused whenever I need to look something up, I don't have to worry about exams, and If it takes me nine months to learn what most people learn in three, well, who cares? I get all the education without any of the stress. It's great.
Thank you for the differential calculus videos. I think you should do a similar series for integral calculus as you mentioned. I'm currently taking Calc II through LSU, and the full lenght MIT calc letures have been extremely helpful. These big picture videos will be great for my kids (5th and 7th graders). Thanks again & I will be donating.
Well, your course of linear algebra made me see the big picture, Thank you very much for your time, no doubt that you are the best math teacher at this time !!
Thank You!

thanks everyone that was involved with this project, hope more professors and schools do the same,
all education should be free like the air we breath and the sun, human kind would be in a better time.
it would be great if u had a smart board where it would save all your notes and we could just download them.
