@rpwVideoInstruction Ray's timbre vaguely resembles that of Peter, but with a much narrower range and much less power, depth and expression. Just listen to the entire Supper's Ready sung by Peter - awesome! I still like Ray - but he shouldn't have sung the older Genesis material.
J'aime Peter, j'aime Phil et j'aime Ray ! Et j'aime cette chanson superbe qui me fait dire que les bonheurs tout simples existeront toujours sur terre, quels que soient les chanteurs.
You know, I've been hearing these shitty ass clips but for this mullett looking, boring ass chump to sing THIS song, this really tears it. It just shows you that Tony and Mike AIN'T the band. Just a part of it. Can't wait to see The Musical Box again because this sux.
Huh? Tony was at least as important for the band as the singers were. He is all over "A Trick of the Tail", and he was very important on all of the other albums as well. Like it or not, but I also think Mike was the one who taught Phil to write pop songs. All of the band members have been important to the music and sound of the band.
Ray had about 90% of Peter's voice, but only about 20% of Peter's charisma. I would have liked to have seen an entire Supper's Ready too, but I think I would have ended up disappointed.
Yeah. I truly enjoy Calling All Stations. Does not sound like the stuff they did w/ Phil, and that is a good thing. I know people complained it was not completely prog, as rumored when the album was coming out, but @ least was not as commercial as their last few albums. Ray even sounded closer to Gabriel, vocally
Ray Wilson seems to have done a good job. But Pete Gabriel takes some beating

Not that bad !

I'm NO advocate for Ray Wilson replacing Phil Collins, with just about every single song from the 80's on.
But he pulls this off. He does it! He's got that Gabriel sound, without a doubt.

This guy has a beautiful voice... The song remains beautiful... But i miss Peter and Phil... different reasons...

This guy's voice is deeper and more soulful than Phil's - as I thought, he is doing very well on the old stuff!

Not that different from PG's voice......

Shame they only did Lover's Leap. Would've loved to see what Ray could do with Apocolypse in 9/8, he had the voice for it.

90% of Peter's voice? How about 3%..
I'm even being generous...

This was a big reason I loved the Ray era. They were shifting more toward their roots and started reexploring older material.
