Thanks Canon, once the sensor in my REBEL XT failed, I felt it was time to upgrade, I love the new 50D, although I did have a problem with red dots appearing in my images on the first one, best buy exchanged it without any questions and I am head over heals for this camera. I use it professionally almost on a daily basis.
Im interested in buying a camera for college to make some money on the side, would this camera be appropriate? im thinking about shooting parties and maybe some semi professional photo-shoots. .
@paulio2293 You really have no right judging people about their age. That person is probably interested in photography and without knowing the exact situation I don't think you should judge. Anyhow, everybody has their own opinions and I respect that. Not necessary that that person is spoiled, it may be that he/she has the funds to pursue their interests, hopefully without people asking about things that are not their business.
I've seen several tests indicating that EOS 40D takes much better pictures then the 50D using same lens and ISO setups. The 50D has more noise on the pictures because of the high-resolution - So if you want more features, buy 50D. If you want better pictures, buy the 40D
@orion9k this is incorrect. There is the appearance of more noise in the 50D pictures because of the larger sensor, sure - at 100%. But if both are resized to the same size, it's much less noticeable on the 50D. And you won't see it in prints anyway.
who gives the best results if you use the same lens at the canon 50d and 40d at the iso 100? who gives the best picture result? if they used the same lens
@thatsoundsfun Try to get a Credit Card, then you would be able to buy the camera on that card. That's what I'm about to do on mine too. PayPal Plus Credit Card has one for you. You can apply online at Paypal for it.
hello, im only 12, but as christmas is coming up i would like to get a new camera so i can take pictures in the moring and at night . do you think i should get this or the canon EOS 350D
Since you're probably beginning, you won't notice the difference. Go for the cheaper 350D en buy a more expensice one if you feel the 350D is lacking the features you need.
@ChristopherKblog if you want extra large print and movie recordign go 4 7d, but right now it is possible to record full hd @ canon 50D :) due to alternative firmware :) i also own 50d and recently i was wondering about upgrade to 7d but after i got information about movie recording i resign from that idea :) better thing to do is buy next lens :) body is only body.. all the buzz is about lenses.
yeah your right. I think Im gonna buy a 50D for my 5 year old sister and a new 7D for my 2 yearold neice. After all, people dont buy cameras based on what age they are.
@904SF Yes your right. I think I'll buy this camera for my two year old toddler. i think she needs more iso range and she needs more options when she shoots wildlife.

Would the Canon 50D be more than enough for a teenager? Or should I pay twice as much for the new 7D?
