They are different games, and therefore different play styles required. You talk like there is /only/ hardcore mode anyway, what about the rest of the game?

Actually over a long distance, you do. This game is very realistic, and the weapons all have bullet travel time and drop.

if you see an enemy you can "light them up" so your team mates can see them however the triangle shows only as long as you keep your vision to the enemy
