This is the Vocalist Live 4. Unfortunately I haven't done any research into the advantages of going to the Pro or compared the 4 and the Pro. Jump on Digitech's website and have a look as that's probably the best place to find out more about the two units.

sorry which version of the vocalist was in use during this demo? I cant decide between the 4 and the pro or indeed the older midi version. I'm primarily a keyboardist. I love this blues voice effect is that available on both the 4 and pro? Many thanks!

how does this 35-years-older thing work? is it just a simple formant pitch down?

this is a cool device,but its jus a cheat for people that aren't talented enough to really learn to sing right.

Yeah your right in some respects man but, It's not going to make you the next super star. It can only adjust the pitch very slightly. It's what snaps you into the correct pitch. I think Marc mentions this in how long Will Digetech hold it's tone. If I remember correctly.

so you think that using a studio is wrong to make people sound better ? or sound engineers backstage ? .... or any kind of effect other than plain voice ? get real ....

I don't think that's what Simon is saying. Having done a number of live mixes myself and had some training in sound engineering I know a bit more about how much the guy at the desk has to do with the sound. What Simon is getting at is the Digitech unit can only do so much to keep you in pitch in the same way that a sound guy can only make it sound as good as possible. The singer still needs to be able to sing.
