just bought a 1988 dynasty that had been in storage for the past 8 yrs.nice car, needed alot of little stuff like sensors and stuff from sitting so long, but runs/drives and handles like a champ, forgot how fun these lightweight 80's sedans were to drive.
Boring to own? I dont think so. I had one myself, It was fun to drive imo. The only problem we had with it. ( we bought it used. ) the transmission kept going into failsafe. and we'd go 4o mph before we could get it fixed. I did research and found ( incident reports ? ) cant remember the name.. Anyway, Dodge new the trannys were defective and put them in the cars anyway. Guess they figured it was cheaper for the consumer to replace them rather than them designing another one.
@dixiewife47 The Chrysler 4-speed transmissions needed a very specific fluid. Using regular ATF or Dexron would destroy them. Trouble is, most people didn't know there was a difference, and Chrysler didn't try hard enough to get the information out to all of their mechanics. I borrowed a Haynes manual from the library and it specified the wrong fluid too.
ahh esos son los tapones ke tiene mi shadow desde agencia ke bonito se siente verlos en un comercial gracias sistemas normales tus videos son la ley saludos!!!
My dad had a 1993 Dynasty LE brand new back then. It was a nice dark green color with a classy charcoal gray interior. It was pretty quick but it handled poorly. The springs were set for old man ride comfort. Too bad it didn't have a little handling like the old Lebaron GTS did. I still liked driving it though.
I have a 93' Dynasty with 167,000 Miles and it still runs fairly good. Having a few minor bumps with the transmission from time to time, but it's a solid car.
I'm running a 3.3 dynasty LE (91) right now with a little over 100k on it. Power locks, windows, driver seat, cruise, etc. Car has a lot of get up and go for something that looks like an 80s buick. I emptied out the cat when I replaced the muffler a couple months ago. Has a nice rumble now. Great car that doesn't get noticed by the cops :D Used to drive a v-6 camaro and got three tickets in a year. Not one since I changed to the Nasty.
This was my first car! Mine was an '89! Purple! my grandmother gave it to me in 1997 and it ran until 2001. Loved those bench seats. I remember my friend dropped a ciggarette butt in the back and burned a hole right through the foam in the seat...we had to get out and shovel snow onto the seat to put out the flames. The ceiling material also caved in and I had to resort to using a staple gun. Ahh, but I had good times with that car!
man my 93 chrysler lebaron has an a604 tranny in it that just went out but im getting it fixed because i love that car. those k-car and k-car derivitives are alot faster than they look, and they are under rated and forgotin about, sad really.
A604 transmissions are junk if you put anything other than the correct fluid in them. I have a 91 Imp and change the fluid and filter every 10 k and car has 425 k so far and runs great. Always change the oil and filter and put motor honey in the 3.3 and watch that 3.3 purr. Imps rule!
My first car, well the 89 anyway. The stereo was going bad and would spontaneously start making the most hideous noises at me. My friends and I got such a kick out of that. I do miss that car.
i really regret selling all my dynastys, hands down the best cars ever. i blew the tranny is my 92, i got a caravan tranny and made sure i maintained it. i noticed almost everyone here had problems, if you maintain it perfectly you will never have a problem, bad fluid imitates seized bearing and grinded gears, change fluid and filter and it will be like new. thousands of a604 trannies went to scrap because of bad fluid.
I have had to put in a (rebuilt) tranny in mine '92, even with that it still leaks. Also my paint job went to pot. Iam getting it repainted -- and I miss my car.....
Interesting you should mention the Taurus. My dad had a Taurus as a temporary company car for a few months before getting the Dynasty. I recall once he said he didn't like the Taurus too much. But seriously, I love the Dynasty. The gold ones are the best-looking in my opinion.

my 92 Dynasty needed a tranny repair ($1200) at 135,000 miles but it still runs great at 260,000 miles. It has the 3.3 engine.
