  • my name is Jenna and my name origin is "small bird" :D

  • So im guessing there is 13 cat people?

  • The Mcstay Video Bought Be Here!:(

  • Imogen is a genius! I'm so happy I found her! :D The beginning of this song reminds me when I played Mass Effect. Amazing song. :)

  • A very young girl (Imogen?) senses that her parents aren't in love. After her father has gone to work, she catches her mother having sex with another man on the sofa. She feels sick to her stomach and confronts her mother, who makes up a story. She wants to tell her father of the treason, but he's not around. She gets more and more upset and confused, but she has nobody to talk to. The "little bird" is a child's playmate. It's departure at the end symbolizes the girl's loss of innocence.

  • 13 people are just pure evil

  • RIP Imogen Heap

  • @Tfrne she dident die?

  • @Tfrne SHE DID NOT DIE DON'T FREAK ME OUT

  • @Tfrne She so did not die. She made a new song recently on itunes.

  • @Tfrne LOL, she didn't die.

  • @leeboy762 That would give it a whole other meaning! But it is 'morning cheers'...

  • @leeboy762 exactly lol

  • This is the creepiest song. Chills. Simply amazing

  • Beautiful and haunting.

  • I love the mysterious ring to her voice. It puts an edge to everything.

  • four letter word, it's just not sitting.. (it .. Lies?)

Really love the feeling of isolation that this song describes, the wishing to be a part of something but realizing from afar that it's not all sunshine but that there's the chance of getting hurt by opening up.. That's the feeling I get though, could be wrong.. But to me, the song means alot! <3

  • I love her songs, but I never know what they mean.

  • love the song, but I think it could have done without the pauses, and the catchy chorus tune could have been kept more consistent and evolved into more of a base than changing every time.

  • Imogen heap is the definition of musical genius. Oh my god.

  • Mmm... love this Imogen Heap composition. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Only Imogen Heap would be able to sing 'We smell rats in the kitchen' and make it sound really deep and meaningful

  • Brilliant video robertbloom2009! How'd you do this!!

Thanks for your creativity for this song!!! You make Imogen proud!

  • @muzafar001 thanks, I'm glad you like it. it took some time to make, first I had some ideas as I was listening to the song, then put those ideas on paper and then in the video. so, there it is. I wonder if Imogen watched it by mistake...

  • I had a hard time pushing pause when I had to leave my computer...I really just wanted to turn up the volume as loud as it would go so I could hear it while I was in the other room.

  • @missmegluv that's exactly what i did. : )

  • This is... wow. I mean you hear all this rock and pop and rap in our generation and we forget about the gentle and beautiful side of music, just like this. The voice... oh god bless whoever sang this, she has the voice of an angel.

  • One of her BEST songs<3 love this video too it doesnt distract people from listening to the music :) great job!

  • i must ask, does anyone know what the lyrics are referring to? ive sat and pondered and have come up empty every time i hear the song lol

  • @Crothonora Well this is only my opinion, but I think it's about a family that was murdered, but everything looks perfect on the outside and all the evidence of murder is hidden.

  • @CaRcInOgEnIcxSyRiNgE oh that would actually be a really good explanation. like the "its trying too hard, hiding something."

  • @Crothonora I read somewhere that it is about an abusive family, and it makes sense... all this perfect picture, yet things festering where others can't see, rats in the kitchen... and there's an attempt to escape (some encoded message he would only get), but I'm not sure it works. It's a beautiful song, but so very sad.

  • This is like magic...

  • i love this song, it is so relaxing.. i always listen to it when i am in bed....

  • this is pure beauty :)

  • amazing

  • is this the official music video for littlebird if not i think you did imogen proud gj.

  • @TheNesly123 it's not the official music video. I made it myself. and thanks.

  • @robertbloom2009

    Did you make the pictures?

  • @whoanora shut up, don't be a music snob. if they like it, that's all that matters.

  • Comment removed

  • @jessicadelcolle whoanora does have a point though, people should listen to what Imogen Heap was saying through her lyrics. It really adds to the beauty of the song when you realize that it's about someone being trapped in an corrupted (probably abusive) household talking to a free, innocent little bird. Lyrics do matter, they're the poetic essence of a piece, that Imogen Heap really does a good job of including in her music :)

  • @DeathToNavi I agree. People should also learn to accept other opinions too. And too bad not many people actually KNOW what they are listening to. If it sounds pretty it must be about something pretty. Oh well..

  • @DeathToNavi I couldn't agree more. Lyrics really are wonderful, especially Imogen Heap's-- they're always like a dream. I just wish whoanora could have stated that more like you did.

  • I'm going to listen to Imogen Heap while I am in labor with my 3rd child. I can't imagine listening to anything else. :) She is brilliant

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sure that I'll have a good dream tonight.

  • Same homework

  • Imogen's music always seems to cheer me up when I'm having a bad day! Thanks for this.

  • my lullaby before I go to sleep

  • luv this song omg its awsomeeeeeee

  • Saw her in New Orleans last summer. I think I died and was resurrected during every song.

  • I got to see her live in Bristol almost a year ago. Let's just say it was amazing. Check out more of her stuff

  • Comment removed

  • Wow I wasn't r expecting such a twist in the song it is now mine!!!

  • i love little birds :D

  • I love the video you put there. It's a soothing addition to such an amazing song.

  • 8 peole like big birds.

  • @maurice4598 Your comment made me laugh out loudly xD LOL. Thank-you

  • this song speaks to me and brings tears to my eyes, so wonderful.

  • "The clink of morning JIZzzZ" LOLOLOL

  • So relaxing, im at peace when I listen to Imogen heap

  • my friends had to dance about this magical bird that they were all obsessed with, and they had to dance with a little plastic bird, and they call the Little Bird Ginny. heheh.

  • THERE ARE 5 PEOPLE GOT H5N1--

  • Only a genius could make music feel so new when we often feel that everything is recycled. A goddess.

  • It's about a child going through divorce. the bird is her little friend.

    I love what you've done here :)

  • Hmm.... i know songs mean different things to different people.

I think the bird is someone who fakes their feelings everyday, without anyone noticing his/her true feelings, until its too late, and he/she is gone....

I dunno, just what i thought of it. Depressing song, but so amazing. ^.^

  • think everyone is thinking to far in lyrics nd the song is really about a bird, in a cage as a pet, bored out of its mind.

  • wow your video is really calming and goes well with the song

  • I am a dancer, & i find this song so inspiring & beautiful. I am going to do a duo to it.

  • what a depressing song....reminds me of how empty suburban living makes me feel.

  • the four letter word is either bird or home. both would make sense. this song makes SO much sense to me, but not in a wake I could put words in it!

  • i got goosebumps when hearing the last verse

  • I think this is beautiful. Kuddos to you, amazing person!!!!

    Katie

  • it sounds like shes saying drink of morning jizz not cheers....

  • Where did you get this picture?

  • we are doing a lyrical dance to this song thank u i love this song

  • i think little bird symbolizs something alot more than just a bird. maybe twitter? b/c twitter has like that blue bird thingy? :] JAYKAY. but I LOVVEE imogen <3

  • Is this what angels sing to each other as bedtime songs.

  • @Surnameist

    (-:

I'm hoping that it's possible between humans, but you may be right: it may only occur in the celestial realm.

  • does anyone else hear a hang drum doing the little arpeggio like sound?

  • @jmafiddle Definitely sounds like the hang to me!

  • @SteviesSister

    good ears :)

  • yesssss 6 dislikes only!

  • @giriciousgirl19 that is still irritating

  • This beat is filthier than a blue waffle!

  • For the reasons I've stated I find it a sad little song.

  • Saw Immi for the second time two days ago.As usual, brilliant!

I would love to know the real meaning of this song but I suspect it's a mixture of things. It seems to speak of a situation where what's on the surface hides what's happening in reality (manicured lawns but rats in the kitchen. Smiles that don't reach the eyes hence the 'absent creases around them) and makes me wonder if it's anything to do with the separating of Immi's parents when she was 12 (hence the childhood games references)

  • @SteviesSister I heared that it's about her parents separation when she was young. The song has a vary fantasy and child-like or even dreamy essence to it. It totally would make sense, true or not.

p.s. I want to meet her!!!!! you're sooo lucky!! =)

  • @jmafiddle Thanks for confirming that! I'd love to meet Immi too. The closest I've gotten was eye contact at Sheffield. I had planned to wait behind afterwards but had no pen on me and nothing for her to sign (which would have been an excuse to approach her) so I chickened out and went back to my guest house, kicking myself. As it happened she never came out to meet fans that night anyway!

I assure you, it's on my 'to do' list though!

  • shes a fucking beauty

  • i went to see imogen recently but i had a seizure half way through and missed rest :( she is amazing and pardon my screen name please i was a very naive teen when i set up this account haha

  • @GanjaIsKing was tht in nowrich,

  • Plus I think this song is about how the there will be always information that will never be answered and how it can mess with the mind.

  • OMG D: Awesome Sauce song, I can imagine this being arranged into an acapella song for a small choir :D

  • @snugglebunnie1717 not really, 'god' doesn't give us answers because the human race would abuse and manipulate it... Warp it, miss-use it, ect. We depend heavily on the little bird because he don't know what is going on, we need answers which the little bird has. With many answers the little bird would dissapear completly...

  • the taylor eigsti cover version of this is really fantastic too

  • i think this is about how American homes can seem perfect on the outside, but that each family member something they're hiding, like a dirty secret or some sort of strees. The little bird may represent a family member that has all these unspoken secrets and issues and at the end has either died or left the home for hopes of something better...

  • 6 people don't understand real music and all its beauty...

  • god i would love to marry her!

  • I think the four letter word is home...

  • This song reminds me of The Raven by Edward Allen Poe and the T. V. series the Gates. I love how Imogen Heap was able to make the song sound both light-hearted and sinister at the same time.

  • @smoochpony1 Hmm, sort of... but (Edgar) Allen Poe is not hiding anything :o And has a darker side, this song doesn't really have a dark side. plus the bird disapears.. the raven stays on the door frame to taunt him. Nevermore ;D

  • I love amazing highly sensual voice and minimalistic music of Imogen Heap and this puristic video too. Just voice and visual idea. ART of ESSENCE.

    Peter

  • @starjeweller thank you Peter, I really appreciate your comment, and I'm glad you like the video.

  • @starjeweller That's not entirely true. For instance, one of the things I don't like about Imogen Heap is her reliance on the vocorder in almost every song. Compared to artists who simply sang a song (pre-2000s, mostly) along with music, Heap and everyone else use a ton of post-editing effects. Her music is highly stylized and intends to sound simple and uncluttered, but the amount of studio tech that is applied to the final product is considerable.

  • @exmortis but whats impressive is that imogen does that all herself. its still her work. her art. not lady gaga and rihanna and nicki minaj or jason derulo sending it to 5 different producers and 4 studios for one song.....I still hold more respect for Imogen

  • I think this is about old age and loosing your partner when you're old and at a nursing home

  • my daughters saw you in Boston this year, they just love you!!

    your an amazing artist

  • this reminds me of nevershoutnever O_o

    idk y XD

  • @JJanimee I love NSN. <333

Happy, it's so cute. And Smell Ya Lata.

  • @crayzymonkey

    yea :3

    nevershoutnever is THE BOMB :D

  • @JJanimee O_O What if Immi and NSN did a song together?! That would be AWESOME!!

  • @LIVE2LUV2LIVE OMG YES!!!!

  • In the day of a morning not to come,

Cast like broken legs carried home,

    Where's the light gone down.

    Dancing in a flowing gown.

  • This is beautiful. <3

Along with Regina Spektor and Sara Bareilles, with such unique, different but beautiful music,

    this is just as amazing.

I heard her once on the Narnia soundtrack and loved the piece.... but didn't really look up anything else by her. Finally I was compelled to listen to some of her other music.

Damn. I wish I had been smarter earlier. XD

  • @amlibros Lol, that's exactly how I found her!

  • @amlibros i found about immi in 2003 when i was 4 :) and im now 11 i still love her i wish i could meet her in person :(

  • her music reminds me of my dreams. everytime im sad if i put her music on i remember my goals and i remember that theres always something better out there you just got to find it. XD

  • She is the only artist I can listen to while reading a book because her voice is so soothing and doesn't distract me at all

  • Nice vid

  • I LUV the endingg! =)

  • This deserves to get commented more often.. :P

  • o my gosh.....thats........so......pretty! :')

  • i would never like the words 'orange juice' in a song, but imogen makes it sound magical; magical orange juice! i love you, imogen~! :D

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE I really love this song and all her others this song was amazingly pretty (lol i know its not spelled right)

  • Her voice is so unique in every single song...

  • I wished i could work with her side by side... to see how she produce all these masterpieces...

  • @cheuee2002 oh woww!!!

that would be like a dream come true!!!!!!

  • I don't think I could make it through my worst days without Imogen.

  • Beautiful! Imogen Heap, you make the

    world a better place <3

I've never heard anything like this, it's

    absolutely mesmorizing!

  • @earthquakeashakin: I think there are two ways to interpret the song- 1. Immi wrote this song as a story about her parents seperation when she was young, and how he was left in the dark for some time.

    2. About a family putting on a façade that everything is perfect, when in reality, they are far from being that way.

  • @lexy- I saw her live also! Best concert I have ever been to.

  • I saw her in concert. She's amazing live. She's amazing either way. If you have ANYTHING bad to say about her, go tell your mom or somebody who cares because i assure you that nobody here cares. She is brilliant. I love you Imogen.

  • no WAY! shes unstoppably amazing.....

  • Ive never heard of Imogen Heap before, but our Marching Band is playing this and Earth this year, now i cant stop listening to them... Little Bird is pretty peaceful, and trippy at the end with overlapping lines...

  • sorry, what is this song about?

  • LOVE!!

  • her music movesyou, transports you, changes your emotion exactly what music should do

  • Way cool video, Kudos to whoever created it!

Has Imogen herself seen this b/c I'd think she'd really dig it...

And as everyone else has already said....Immy's music is purely amazing, agreed

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

  • it is really beautiful song.

  • Effective video. Really suits the song

  • Wow. She's like a modern Emily Dickinson.

  • I have watched this about 200 times tonight . it just gets better every time. ty for being honest artist. very rare these days. plz dont change.

  • Just read the comments down there about the Hunger Games series, don't understand how the series was brought up, but they're making a movie of the Hunger Games, you know.

And then I think, if the movie had this song on it. Perfect. I do hope that whoever is making the movie happens to read this comment.

  • i absolutly love this song its amazing i have never heard anything like it and the girl who sings it is so good at singing....i dont think theres anyone that can sing like her

  • @fallonrenee1 there sure isn't, Imogen Heap is one of a kind :) And the music she writes... it's out of this world, simply magic!

  • @FantasyDessi true that

  • "and i swear ill let it rest"

  • the array mbira's played in this song isn't it?

  • this isn't my type of music AT ALL... but i have to respect this work of art :]

  • Love this track !! Have a listen to my remix of hide and seek on my page if you get a chance!! I want to do a remx of this soon.. :))

  • it is refreshing to hear someone think so differently about music

  • Awesome,very Beatles

  • I actually thought it was kind of like a disturbia thing but the other way around. The victim (the bird) is an onlooker to this innocent seeming house but it's really actually the house of a murderer or something and this guy's killed the onlooker in the end.

    That's what I think anyway.

  • @ISayJessYes thats is exactly what i thought i thought the bird was the only witness to a murder that he just happened to witness while he was flying one day

  • I find this song is amazingly chilling. On the surface, it seems innocent e.g. 'the clink of morning cheers', but underneath there's something very sinister about the song. I think the bird is meant to see some sort of 'perfect' family.. but then, there's actually something very wrong, e.g. 'A family wiped up, j cloth cleaned

Unsaid, festers in the throws of the sofa ' It makes me think there has been murder, and the bird knows exactly what's going on.. makes me skin crawl, but amazing! :)

  • This reminds me of Mockingjays in the Hunger Games.

  • LOVE THAT BOOK!

  • wow great connection i love it <3

  • BEST BOOK EVER!!

  • @cheer4giants wait, what book?

  • @fsnaqvi0 Hunger Games and Catching Fire, they're so goood!

  • @cheer4giants OMG Yes! i love those books so much... but what do they have to do with this, my favorite, song?

  • @jasperfan123 I'm not sure what the books have to do with this lovely song, but someone said something about them...I thought it was you...? maybe i was wrong. Haha sorry for the confusion.

  • @princesszelda123 right when i heard this song, that's what it reminded me of.

  • Love this song, but the lyrics are "Absent creases" not "Haps and creases". Thats according to the CD.

  • This really captured my attention. The music video is perfect, I like this song.

  • I agree. It's about the fact that people lie to look good but keep secrets under the surface! I believe she's singing about someone in perticular..but For me... I think it's about my mate Tan.

  • if imogen heap dies. im going to die on her grave. listening to her music

  • @Dacey4 Amen to that! I'll join you!

  • @DeliriumxTrigger112 WE SHOULD COORDINATE!! wait no that would be creepy... :/

  • @Dacey4 not at all!

    We can def coordinate!
