  • so cool

  • I create real levitating plants,no strobe lights or strings-electromagnetism,type in levitating plant or jjwhy321-youtube

  • Just buy a strobe light, and put it up to your faucet. lol (:

  • you cant buy that shit at wal mart

  • Where can you buy that?

  • I would love to try this on a real waterfall, like niagara falls or angel falls...

    That would be totally mental.

  • shut up and take my money! Anybody know where this can be purchased?

  • Shut up and take my money.

  • genius

  • uouu!

  • holy shit !

  • i believe tk but i think this is not tk

  • this is the coolest thing ever!

  • Not Magnets.Its the Light ! A Stroboskop ^^

  • where can i buy it ???

  • magnets.

  • Someone please explain this to me

  • @greatdane114 There is water droping down normally and there is a strobe light that is flashing really quickly. you can only see the water when the srobe light is on, so it flash's and you see a droplet the middle, next time it flash's you see a different droplet higher.

All this happens really quickly, so it looks like its going up and down.

  • the guy who invented that is a certified bauss

  • this made me really really thirsty

  • wikipedia . org/wiki/Strobe_light

Look to wikipedia if you want to know how this works.

  • SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN NON BELIEVEEEEEEEEERS

  • Fuck, i was hoping to see a way of actually making water fly...

  • what

  • I really appreciate the guy breaking it down in a simple and understandable fashion.

He wasn't all high and mighty about it, which seems to be the norm nowadays.

  • I don't care what science says ...this is MAGIC!

  • It Look Like It Squirted

  • Katara is on the other side using the water control.

  • its like 3d slice of the 4d of a repetitive event

  • See YouTube

    Strobe light water droplets

  • omfg that is so cool lol

  • fools its not just the human eye. there using a CAMERA to put it on YOUTUBE.

  • The human brain can be quite dumb at times!

  • You are weird!?!?!?!? The human brain isnt dumb, this is real. think like what you see in space, water can float out there, and humans are soo smart we make it float down on earth too!!!! :D <3

  • drop a fog machine in the bottom of that~

  • you can make one search in time fountain

  • Does anyone know where this fountain is????????

  • wth? where is thiss!?

  • that is really really trippy

  • Strobes? You can actually levitate water with sound. It would be hard to do many streams but on stream of beads with sound has been done using ultrasonic transducers.

  • WHY,

I remember smaller versions of this being sold as tacky ornaments well over 20 FREAKIN YEARS AGO.

  • our eyes can be tricked so easily..

That why I like to sleep and dream my life away....LOL

  • I just do drugs, LOL.

  • If I started doing drugs the damn cop would have me in Jail...LOL

Hey ..that would work ...in Jail I could go back to sleeping my life away and do Drugs....LOL

  • @clnmyjts im in ur dream in a dream

  • no wonder, someday cars can fly too

  • But I doubt they'll be flying using strobe lights...

  • they already have cars that can fly. i get the magazine popular science ever month. dunno why but my mom got it for me... anyways they got some sick cars that can fly... one looks like a cross between a gyrocopter/airplane but is only the size of a car. 4 seater.. 80,000 dollars. later

  • @alienwizard23 but this is bcs strobe light

  • @alienwizard23 yea if we just strobe the sun as cars fall from the sky

  • @alienwizard23 Nope. But they'll go really fast and you'll think they did.

  • @alienwizard23 Except they'll really be falling XD

  • This is pretty cool!

  • And in this ring ladies and gentlemen for your entertainment we have levitating water droplets!!! Just another circus for the folks.. Now, if you levitate it on over to the Sudan or some other water starved nation of the world we could all be truly greatful and amazed.... Yawn..

  • Would you STFU? You do a disservice to your cause by being an asshole.

  • No. Sometimes the truth just stinks- deal with it.

  • in this case you are making a mountain out of molehills.

  • yo LarkaSojourn you a bitch

  • you izz penis

  • Comment removed

  • i want to stab that water

  • its even cooler if you dye the water different colors and have different colors drop out like blue then red or if you make the water glow in the dark and have it in your room

  • DrLsw You probobly couldn't make it glow in the dark because it needs the strobe light to make the illusion.

  • yes you can..

  • Are you sure?

  • yea.

  • use a black light also

  • or put like food dye in the watter to make the actual water coloured.

  • strobe lights ftw

  • now HOW COOL IS THAT!?:D

  • I saw this at a medal game place in Japan... It's real, and even as I stood there and touched it, it was still hard to believe. It's even more impressive than this video (because there was no flickering). I wish these were more commonplace. :D If I were rich, I'd have this deal set up in my house.

  • it 's just waterfall with a simple stroboscope

  • uuuuh yeah... that's exactly what they just said in the video.

  • Elementary, my dear doublemycocoa.

    He's not the real Messiah.

  • how to build this?

    pls help;)

  • several water pumps, a closet thats been outfitted with a bathtub, a few tunable strobe lights, and a lot of extra time on your hands.

  • damn thats trippy.

  • really cool i want one in my house

  • no iv seen this b4 it was at a place i went to eat. i was so confused but now i know =P

  • aahhh i get it man thats awesome.

  • When you see the flashes in the video its when the recorders FPS just happens to take a picture while the extremely fast strobe turns off and on.

  • The strobe flashes extremely fast and only lights up part of a long (extremely fast) continues series of falling orbs of water.

  • I wonder if electricity got called "joke"

  • where can i get one???

  • i still dont get how it works ಠ_ಠ

  • I think he's saying that the strobe light illuminates just certain parts of the water stream and thats how it works.

  • no it works by flashing the lights at certain speeds, if it flashes slightly slower than the rate of the falling water then the droplets will appear to be going down slowly if they flash it slightly faster the drops will appear to be going up slowly, because the light flashes and you see the drop at lets say half way, then it flashes again slightly before the next drop gets to half way so it looks a bit higher,

  • Thanks for the explenation man.

  • o rly?

  • sweet, i want one

  • thas pimp wish i had 1

  • ummm really?

  • WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO

  • Nice optical illusion.

  • Wooh! that looks amazing.

  • ooooooo cool

  • That should put that in clubs or discotheques

  • Yes, and then not using water but beer.

  • Haha! You must be kidding me. That's ridiculous!

It's quite simple. Some streams of water and a strobe light.. try it yourself!

  • That's pretty impressive, the thing's people can make these days ^_^

  • If you practice and train you muscles you can piss on the ceiling.

  • I lol'd for real!

  • well u can't levitate water with strings can you?

  • its not strings you idiot. strobe lights shine on the water stream.

  • It's sad that people have deteriorated to identify a JOKE. Six minuses for a JOKE, get a life.

For the love of all that is good it's JOKE, i am sure there is a factually impressive reasoning behind it all.

  • Idiots. It was a JOKE!

  • you're an idiot!

  • lawl

  • Pretty cool...

  • thats awsome!!!! i want one of those

  • oooo...super

  • awesome!

  • wow... coool!!!

  • boys toys.

  • Who cares?

  • i want one

  • thats cool

  • So one day he thought,"Man I'm running out of ways to spend my money, I've already bought everything I can think of..... I know let's install some LEVITATING WATER!!!

    What a WASTE.

  • Wow you're a cunt, get the stick out of your ass. This is art, not some conspiracy of the wealthy to turn lowly water into some extravagant fountain that inferior peasants can't have.

  • WELL SAID! Stick up the arse all time lowly peasants! Poekieee! ajjajajajajajak

  • You must be poor :(

-Sorry, hope you're successful in life so you could have a piece of art and other people can hate on you.

  • thats genius dumb fuck....not like u...hating...fuckin no life..

  • This is from Wonder Works. Its a strobe machine that differs its flashing speed, making it look like the water is moving up and down.

  • One day when the world was young...Chuck Norris was practicing his roundhouse kick on it..........And its still spinning.

  • you use a strobe light, i did that in my chemistry class back in the day

  • I did your mother back in the day.

  • Criss angel is behind the wall.

  • That was just Chuck Norris taking a piss.

  • Ha.

  • lmao

  • i wish i could take a piss like chuck norris

  • I think I'm in love with you.

  • E'S A WITCH!!!!!

  • its a witch a tell ya

  • i want that in my house!

  • i know right? probably expensive though =(

  • hahaha they are gay and gorgeous :)

  • The devils magic!

  • EP!!!

  • wow thats really amazing

  • hmmm...

  • Love the video so I subbed. Check me out sometime.

  • Sorcery!!!!

  • Hmmm...

Using a strobe light and changing the frequency.

    Magic indeed!!

  • I have seen something like that before..slowing down the flow of time and it seems to run in slow motion but here we are dealing with different chemicals in the brain. In reality the brain never runs time backwards, it still maintains its arrow no matter what chemicals is.

  • ....lol mate, fuck up

  • IS THIS SOME SORT OF CHRISTIAN MAGIC?!

  • How come the water doesn't fall out onto the floor?

  • PLEASE DO NOT REPRODUCE

  • TIME FOUNTAIN

  • thats cool!

  • Yes, I will be posting more footage this week. It wasn't my camera that took this footage. Some of the other effects that the water display can do are far more impressive and paradoxical then the ones shown in this short clip. I will also be posting some other illusions for people to enjoy.

  • Dude, I remember when this video had freaking 100 views, look at the very first comments

  • Awesome!

  • Funny to read all the busy about my display. However, you can't see all the effects that it can do, which include creating words and pictures, drops going up/down in the same stream, etc. Why can't people just enjoy the effect, instead of shooting off that "I have seen this before, blah, blah, blah, and where they really don't know what they are talking about. It's just for fun.

  • One of the enormous problems of the internet. Many different people, in one place.

  • I knew how it was done before I heard the explanation, and I still think it's cool. Your comment makes me want to see more... is there any more footage anywhere else? Just ignore the small-minded cynics. It's not their fault they're apathetic, jaded, and petty, and have lost all sense of wonder, if they ever had one to begin with. Oh, wait- yeah, it kinda is.

  • Come on ! This not new (to me at least).

There was already the "TIME FOUNTAIN" (search on Youtube) which works on the same principle and even better because there was UV lighting (more impressive).

  • Yes, it is a very cool effect, lots of fun, and we have issued patents on creating this effect.

  • Here, we pulse the water extremely fast (you can't see the individual drops), but with a strobe (at the right frequency) they become "visible." Adjusting the frequency and valve rate you can get different effects. You assume that it is the "same" drop going down/up/hovering, etc., but it isn't. Your brain just groups it that way. The water is ALWAYS going down. Not shown on this video is the cool trick of filling a clear glass, while drops "magically" appear to rise out of the glass.

  • We have taken this principle and applied to a perceptual illusion known as the wagon wheel illusion. When one watches a spoked wheel turn on an old western movie, it appears to rotate in the opposite direction to its true rotation.

  • According to Al Seckel:

This video was taken at my home where I was showing off my display of a levitating water illusion. I can see that people are interested in how it is done...

The concept of strobing pulsating water to allow one to see drops rise, hover, and fall at different rates, is not new. MIT's legendary Harold "Doc" Edgerton used strobes to illuminate an unseen world of fabulous images (bullet striking an apple, balloon bursting, drop of milk splashing, etc.).

  • Now we'll have to develop a new Umbrella design. Great! ahahah.

  • I think it is done with a lazer.

I made an ELEPHANT from bathfoam. Click my name to see the video.

  • You gotta love science!

  • tight

  • You can thank Harold E. "Doc" Edgerton for this.

  • Not much different than strobe lights in a disco, as if they are set at just the right blink rate, the motion of the dancers will appear to freeze, & what you will see is appearence of robot like motions.

Taking this one step farther, had the incresed the flash of the bulbs to the exact drip rate of the water, it would appear to just hang there in mid air, as I seen other videos like that.

  • you had me until "as I seen"

  • Well, what I meant was this video is not the first time I seen this effect, as you know there is life outside of the web ( contrary to popular belief ), & various science shows has also shown this effect, lol

  • "what I meant was this video is not the first time I seen this effect"

Are you trying to say "I saw" or "I have seen," because there's no such thing as "I seen."

  • Chalk it up to slang & be happy, lol

Were I in class, I would use the proper diction, but since I am not...

  • This is fucken awesome!!!! ;)
