  • @diamonds4rubies she didn't give him alcohol. he was adopted by her and his mother drank alcohol through out her pregnancy. That is why she is so heartbroken because the last thing a true mother (adopted or biological) would want is to have her kid with some sort of disability. I think it took alot of guts for her to share her story to the world so a little more respect should be in order. Thank you.

  • mario music FTW !

  • This is a good enough reason to ban alcohol.

  • if a mother drinks while pregant she should be charged with child abuse

  • dsda

  • There should be legal repurcussions for women who drink while pregnant. After all if you gave a baby alcohol in a baby bottle, I'm sure this would be dire consequences. What's the difference... evcept that the child is being fed alcohol while a developing embryo. It's an absolute disgrace that these woman are willingly harming yheir children, who have no say in the matter whatsoever!!!

  • If you're not responsible enough to NOT fucking drink whilst pregnant, don't have a baby at all.

  • I HATE alcohol.

  • @Shukria123 i hate alcohol to it cause alot of harm pain and suffering alcohol should be banned

  • I live in a group home and have a roomate with FAS. I myself have Tourette's Syndrome, OCD, and Asperger's.

  • I'm FASD.

    Apparently everything falls into FASD.

    Schizophrenia, Delusions, Depression, etc.

I guess because it makes other illnesses more prone.

But, I don't think they should say it's because of FASD.

Maybe you were already born with it, and it just took time for it to show?

I'm a foster, and my foster parent thinks that every difficulty I announce is from FASD.

I'm tired of it. I just want her to listen to me. Don't give me sympathy, or getting some doctor else to indoctrinate me.

    I need help.

  • @Newborn228 I'm FASD as well. I have ADHD, BP, Attachment Disorder, and social phobia. It sucks. I feel your pain because I've experienced it myself. I'm sorry you had to go through this, and still have to. This really hits close to home with me because I know the pain and anguish that life brings with this condition. Any time you need to talk message me, please.

  • @Antiks72 I have FAS as well.

  • I'm not the least bit religious... but if there were such a thing as angels, they would be the people who adopt kids with FAS.

and mothers of children with FAS who drank during pregnancy should feel guilty about ruining their kid's life

  • 125a

  • Thank you for this video. I was unaware of my pregnancy due to PTSD and the numbing effects of alcohol. Unfortunately for my wonderful son, he is suffering from my alcohol abuse. The guilt is unbelievable and shaming. I wish I could turn back the clock and relive that time in my life, but I can't. I am blessed because my son is loved by all. He is friendly and outgoing and laughs constantly. I pray, like other mothers, that he will one day be able to hold a job and be independent.

  • @catzlemon - thank you for your comments -- your comments will help others. Please forgive yourself and remember that the Mercy of God is far greater than all of our sins combined. God will watch over you and your son. Regards...

  • @rosaryfilms where can i find this picture pls i need it so badly for my research! anyone?

  • @catzlemon I wonder what kind of guilt you must have. To know that a decision, and only a decision, caused permanent damage to an innocent child. To debilitate another human being, your child nonetheless, for life. Do you look back and think '9 months of abstaining from the drink would have been hell for me (if you were/are an alcoholic), but at least I could have kept this helpless person inside of me safe'? 270 days of selflessness in return for a fully functioning child.

  • FAS must have existed sixty years ago. There were communities in the South where violence and alcoholism was rampant. I bet a sizeable number of kids there were born with FAS.

  • Don't drink while your pregnant dumb fucks.

  • hey

  • What is the name of the Doctor who is speaking from the 9th minute....I didn´t got her whole name....Kathy S......???

Would like to get a short answer....!!!

    Thanks!

  • even without research about FAS during your first pregnancy what would make you think there is nothing bad about having a child and drinking alcohol? Surely you knew how alcohol affected your liver (pregnancy aside) so would you not logically think that it would do no good for your baby or down the line for your second or third child? I just do not understand people who smoke and drink during pregnancy and simply blame it on "oh I was not informed it is bad, there was no research at the time"

  • i have FAS but i have learn how to live with it greetings from sweden

  • i dont think i have FAS i am just fine i am in grade 8 and i am in a devolop mental skills class and i am so smarter then everyone in my class i might have it but my doctor will test me on it in the future

  • i have fas

  • thankyou for this vid it was very helpfull to see what has happened our son who is 8 has just been diagnosed with partial FAS im working through the numbness i feel and guilt im sure will come soon enough. i read some of what is said and before you judge i think you should think not all kids that have it are from parents that are abuses of alcohol. i never drank with my second cause by then there was more said about no drink in pregnancy. now i start the process of helping my son.

  • thank you for your comments. God will Bless your efforts! regards...

  • your welcome. and thankyou i know its going to be hard nacker for him. and i do think people can leave their judgement to themselves cause us mothers are beating ourselves up enough (ok most of us) that we dont need goody goody high and mighty nit wits adding to it. there needs to be more info out there and when i have time ill be catching more vids you have done so i can learn as much as possable and maybe later become an advocate to break the cycle and stand up for those that cant.

  • It's depressing that a disease so preventable is completely irreversable once the damage is done.

I was diagnosed with this syndrome after I was born and while I am not affected to a severe extent I am still angry towards the woman who put my life and health at risk.

  • Does anyone have F.A.S? Well i have F.A.S cause my Biological mother..It SUCKS cause everyone thinks i'm Retarted.

  • @Joejonasdabomb101 sorry to hear that

  • omg women who uses drugs or drinking during pregnancy is responsible for another life, it should be elegal and they should be jailed until the baby is born. why does the goverment bother adult men and women who uses drugs, they know what they doing, but this babies do not have a chance to this world. the law should proctect this babies!

  • Doctors used to tell women that it was okay to have one alcoholic beverage per day and it wouldn't hurt the unborn child, but the similarities between FAS and other life long conditions like ADD and ADHD is scary. Vitamin consumption could also have toxic results to unborn children, such as taking in too much iron, or not enough vitamin B complex.

  • MrNeo2001, the new rule is that no alcohol amount is safe. No alcohol is recommended.

  • Fas is proof a crime was commited, why can't prosecutors do something to protect other childrens future? This is sad, life is tough enough, without the deliberate poisoning of ppl when they are babies.

  • This make me feel so bad :( I drank before I knew I was pregnant (7 weeks) and got mildly drunk couple of times after.. I was depressed over everything, but I never ment to hurt my baby! Is he likely to get FAS or FAE? (I truly regret my stupid mistake, there's no excuse!!)

  • Gingagirl, the answer is complicated. The best series available that will completely answer your question is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome 01 / FAS FASD Educational Training Video (our posts). It is a six series educational video series on a complicated topic. There they discuss the details, like critical time periods, other factors, etc. Please do not be discouraged. These videos will help enlighten you on the topic.

  • Thanks :)

  • I just don't get how mothers can be that stupid.

A friend of a friend is currently pregnant, and she drinks. She drinks wine and when people complain she says 'no, it's okay to drink wine, just not other alcohol'. She also hangs around people who smoke, and sometimes takes a drag from their cigarettes. When people complain about that she says 'it's okay to inhale the smoke, just so long as I don't have a full cigarette'.

...and people actually ASK me why I hate bogans.

  • a stupid mom deserves an equally stupid baby.

  • I disagree.

She deserves to be infertile; no baby should be born to ignorant parents.

  • possibly, but its not fair to the child. Knock the mother up side the head, not the innocent child.

  • @iHeartTheOncologist

Man, it makes my heart heavy to hear that.

I have had pregnant women ask me to serve them alcohol at the restaurant I work at. I have always just suggested to them our non alcoholic versions, worked so far.

But how can you want to drink? You can be sure anything that effects the mother will effect the child. So why risk it?

  • You can find some interesting reading on alcoholism in a different perspective at w w w . gracejunction . com / blog / the-case-of-alcoholism /

  • i have FAS and i recognise the problems they have in this video with money and planning and other stuff

  • I had a lot of trouble in school. Always struggling with school work. Always getting into trouble at school. My memory isn't good. Bosses have said that I'm not good at taking directions.

If I try to do things fast I forget things in the task. I mix up right and left. One of my half brother said that a doctor told him that FAS is only in Canadian Native communities.

  • WilliamHBonney55, please see our video series, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome 01 / FAS FASD Educational Training Video. Regards...

  • Thanks! (((hug)))

  • My mother was a severe alcoholic. I have always had trouble holding down a job for long term. I am terrible at math. My wife has to handle the money. My half brothers have the same problems. However we do not have the facial features.

  • WilliamHBonney55, I am sorry to hear about your situation. Please see our video response above (the picture with the Indian lady). It goes into detail about someone in your situation and can provide helpful information. Regards...

  • alcohol cooked into foods wouldnt make a difference, would it?

  • xQueenKristinx, if the ethanol (CH3OH) is not reacted out, that is, it remains as ethanol, then it is just the same as drinking ethanol.

  • I am a young woman (20s) planning on starting a family in a few years and I have read that caffeine, over the counter medicines like tylenol etc. are no-nos during pregnancy as well. I know I will be a wreck when I am pregnant. I have a few friends who drank for over a month before they knew they were pregnant. I think I will stop drinking alcohol once we start trying for a baby....even if it takes months to get pregnant. I'd feel awful if i did anything that would compromise my baby.

  • Mobee211, thank you for your comments! That sounds like a good game plan for your baby! To be on the safe side, I would suggest trying out your "pre-natal" diet about two months before you start trying to become pregnant, just to make sure that your system can handle it and to give your system some time to adapt to the new regimen. Regards...

  • Thank you for this vid. It shows new research about what part of the brain is affected at what stage of fetal development. Interesting how the pre natal cells die, not just malformed.

  • WillWriteYourSongs, thank you for your comments!

  • I heard some mothers over dose caugh syrups and drugs to get drunk. Would those syrups be also dangerous?

  • yes

  • Where I come from, in France all mohters have small glass of wine. My mohter had once in a while and I was okay, I have high IQ. In Europe most people do drink. I think their bodies are just used to little wine some times. These mothers must have drunk a big huge amount of alchool and used drugs. Very interesting video, thank you

  • people who drink while their pregnant make my blood boil....

  • how can u tell if they are effected physically?

  • by looking at them...

  • A preventable condition.

  • It is dumb for someone to drink, when they are pregnant!
