In other words, Barack Obama's health care plan relies heavily too much into market mechanisms. Mandating that everyone buy private health insurance is not the answer. When they talked about the Public Option, I was a bit hesitant on that approach as well. The only way to have real health care reform in America is to create a Single Payer system like they have in places like Canada, Sweden, and Australia. I voted for Ralph Nader in 2008, and that's because Barack Obama is too conservative.

Medicare reduced the amount of senior citizens who were in poverty. The New Deal was working then FDR decided to scale it back due to the economy improving and what do you know it got worse again. (Even then, many people cite WWII as a huge reason we got out of the depression. Heh, so I guess government spending IS the answer!) America never had a major depression-style economic crisis after the New Deal...that is until Glass-Steagall was gutted in 1999 and we all know what happened after that.
