Are you sure it's not the map which is bugged? I've noticed several other small bugs with that circular plateau on the center of that map. For instance the selection rings also don't appear on ground units over that area.

I didn't know about that, but besides the buggy graphics, the vortex itself is kind of bugged in this situation. Te infestor is not drained by the vortex, the mothership apparently gets free from the neural parasite, and the probe doesn't come back right away when the vortex disappears.
