Early in the video, they showed a picture of the historic old Federal Courthouse in St Louis where a slave named Dred Scott unsuccessfully sued for his freedom in 1857. But they incorrectly identified it as the Missouri state Capitol which is not near Route 66.
i thought Route 66 was just gone! are these equivalents of where the highway once lay, or is there really some of it left that isn't crumbled and abandoned.
like here we have tons of Oregon Trail-type stuff, and several roads named Santa Fe but they're not actually part of the trail, though there are markers around that lead me to believe the trail went through those spots or somethin.
@88mphsss Some portions were converted directly into Interstates 55/44/40/15/215, retained as frontage roads of those freeways, or serve as Interstate "business routes" through cities and towns. Other parts were converted into state highways; some sections of US 66 in CA, AZ, OK, and MO are now called (state) 66. Some sections are crumbled/gone, but many of those were already abandoned by realingments of 66 between 1926 and the final 1985 decomissioning. Check historic66 . c0m.
Isn't 7:12 Highway 163 in Utah, approaching Monument Valley? I'm coming to the US next year and hope to travel this road but I didn't realise it was originally part of Route 66?
@herringfly 163 was not part of Route 66. The old Route 66, and now I-40, ran south of Monument Valley through the Navajo reservation in eastern Arizona. Monument Valley was an interesting side trip for travelers on Route 66.
@sandouka1503 hi, ive been looking on doing this myself, its best to stop of at all the different places, about a fortnight should be enough time to see lots of places along the way, just search route 66 self drive or fly drive on google, theres loads of information
The shot of the iconic red rocks isn't Flagstaff. It's not even Arizona. It's southbound on Hwy 163 in Utah approaching Arizona. It's about 150 miles from Route 66. But it's still a nice video.
@Viktorsiable...I am not sure what that comment has to do with this fine video about Historical America but since this is America you have the right to say what you like.
And since you say "your" corrupt government I would guess that you are not so lucky to be living in the greatest nation that this planet has ever seen, even with all of our flaws.
At any rate a TROLL is a TROLL no matter where you are from or at and that is all you are.
GREAT JOB MyAmbrosius, Thanks, I really enjoyed it!
Nice video, but I was expecting more on the actual "route" of Route 66. This looks more like a video you would post on a website for tourist attraction. If that was the case, then it would be well represented.
Great even though my folks moved there from Arkansas,,we lived several years on Rt 66 in Elk City Okla when I was a kid,,around 1941. I even lost my GENE AUTRY cap pistol in a sand storm AND had the honor of standing in front of his desk at KMPC RADIO ( which he owned) and telling him about that ,,in 1971. He replied "sorry Sid I' don't have any cap pistols at this time" COOL HUH??

Isn't route 66 Devils highway?
ArieeShadow8 1 month ago
@ArieeShadow8 There was another highway designated Route 666. People used to joke about that one as the devil's highway.
globalnettuber 1 week ago
@globalnettuber True, though they changed it to 491 in 2003 because of the demonic associations and because people kept stealing signs.

Nice video. High quality, slick production but some of your images are mislabeled and/or out of place.

@TheCountAlucard One of the shots of red rocks looked like Palo Duro Canyon, south of Amarillo, TX.
