I was going to quit learning this piece and choose an easier, shorter fugue, but then I came across this beautiful performance and decided I just have to do it. It's touched by so many emotions, and somehow never losing its tranquility. What a remarkable fugue.
I have heard many different people play this. I cannot believe I never heard how this can easily be vocal piece. The voicing is beautiful, the touch is delicate but not thin in the higher notes and the overall musicality is brilliant. This is honestly the best version of the fugue I have EVER heard.
I played this in a church on the 12th of December and will play it again on the 21st of Dec at my piano exam -- a lot of number 12's going on here. LOL. When listening to the Fugue especially I visualize winter, when the trees are covered in snow, the nature is resting and sunlight is scarce...

The only weapon and shield against greed, violence, hate, immoderateness, ..... and pride is this eternal music.

@baroquegeek I can imagine this played on organ or even by a string orchestra with continuo.

@tarquin161234 : Neither Almighty God nor Herr J. S. Bach would have you blaspheme in appreciation of the exercise of musical gifts.

@kksvf I believe it's known as a 'tierce de picardie' when a minor passage ends with a tonic major chord.
