очередной сочиненный бред.. как надоели эти продиджи. Группа была такая prodidgy.. думаю эти ребята гораздо талантливее были, многих современных композиторов сегодня..
@nomang3996 Hi, I watched the program from NRK, the state channel of Norway. Its says that you can only watch it if you are in Norway, but I watched from Italy so apparantly the block doesn't always work as its supposed to do:) Go to nrk.no, search for "musikalske vindunderbarn" (press søk) and then select the top link. Enjoy!
@Helkost Allora mi spiace:/ Funziona per me quasi ogni volta. Uso mac con firefox. Funzionano gli altri video? NRK ha molti video che non hanno questo limite.
Just watched the three episodes of the documentary. I'm both awed and inspired, knowing that Alexander is of the same age as me haha. Love the song as well! :)
I am amazed by some of the comments regarding Alexander Prior in here. He is clearly a talent. His music is perharps not sounding like a car crash or a noisy engine. Why is it so important to develop music? it is music not technology were talking about. I am rarely listening to music composed after 1945, unless were talking about Shostakovich, Britten and Bernstein.
Your comments do much much justice to Prior indeed. I wonder how many in this comment tread can boast of composing 4 symphonies with such reminiscent strains of Romanticism, can conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Northern Sinfonia, can harmonise 4 precocious talents together and can probably boast of a musical ear far more sensitive than anyone else his peer. It just is health to my bones reading someone who listens to classical music yet not being such a nitpicker. :)
impressive musicians, but age doesn't mask a bland harmonic and melodic language. The main theme is weak, the chords are predictable, and it sounds way outdated, like a forgettable romantic era composition. The dynamic contrast is not used in a way that gives the piece any direction. I have not heard any more of this guy's music, but he seems to be representing himself with this.
I beg to differ you, i can clearly hear youth spirit in this music, and remember he is just 18. Dvorak did develop his famous moods much later. And besides this music has a modern twist and still with a musical language u can enjoy.
I had watched their rehearsals in bio. I love the attitude of michael and the pianist so much. And the other violinist girl puts so much soul in playing.. Love all of them. They really are prodigies!
That piano player is so amazing!!!!!! and he's only 10!!!!!! half the time it doesn't look like he's even looking at the keys!!!!!! I envy all of them so much! :)
Combines the grand sound of Tchaikovsky and the wit of Prokofiev. A sound that resembles, at times, Star Wars... but at its root it's really Russian!!! Just can't help sayin' - it's a Great piece.
Alex is a genius compose and conductor. The four prodigies are just unbelievable to deliver this with such panache and confidence. LIttle Jack had never played with an orchestra before and he played the Beethoven N2 Concerto with total professionalism as well as this. Simone has style, great sound quality and solidity. Michael is Mischief in Chief with his vibrant and charismatic personality and freedom of expression. Nathan wields the cello like a seasoned pro and has great personal charm
I absolutely loved this concerto, the piano part and the brass (i agreee with this guy doubleblackhelm, there is very little emphasis on the violin parts, I play the violin myself and am ver disappointed with that), despite the fact that i feel somehow jealous of the opportunities people like Alex and guys that live in the US and Europe have to develop their talents at early ages. Here in Chile we have nothing of that, which is a pity since I know so many gifed musicians.
Yeah, he defintely winked at 4:02 AND at 3:45, he gave a brilliant smile too!! I was at the April 8 concert at the Barbican, and could see how communicative he was with the other kids. When little Jack played his solo parts, Michael would stared intensely in his direction; and gave a nod of approval when Jack finished. They are great pals despite the language barrier: thick as thieves they are.
The five of them gave autographs after the performance, and the queque was like miles long. All the parents were also in the foyer, mixing and talking with us. I talked to all the parents, and had a long chat with Michael's dad David Province. You can see Daivd 's photo gallery with his son's photos etc on Phase Artists Gallery on the net (just google his name.) Wish you were there too!!
Such a lot of exceptional young talent represented here. Including the conductor, who really put his heart into it. Congratulations on a terrific effort everyone of you.
I was really amazed on how the prodigies played and on how Alex composed this song. I envy them so much because on such a very young age they already achieved a lot and I'm already 14 (same age as the prodigies) and I don't have that many achievements.. :(
A brilliant example of how we don't need these blasted modernist 'techniques' to create great music. As a fellow writer of more traditional and conservative music, I support Alex Prior 100%, and wish him the biggest luck at cracking the society of modern music that is so obsessed with creating music that is unpleasant on the ears and the heart.
I was so amazed at how these young children came together to create this beautiful sound. I am even move amazed that Alexander can compose such a great and complex concerto at his age. It is truely a unique sound. I liked it so much when I saw the documentry about it that I ordered the CD.
Terrific performance from all concerned. After the 'Prodigies' build up I was disappointed that Channel 4 failed to broadcast the complete concerto so it's good to see this on YouTube. It cuts off very suddenly at the end though. :-(
You can still book tickets for their concert at the Barbican if you live in the UK. It is on April 8, at 7pm. They are going to do this concerto as well as individual performance for the same four prodigies.
Thanks for the info. I discovered this by accident last week when booking for another concert at The Barbican. My ticket for the 'Prodigies' arrived on Saturday !!

solarinox 1 year ago
@solarinox You can find that Velesslavitsa complete on CD 1-3 total time 46 minutes from Alexander`s site: alexprior co uk
and as well his other recordings like 10 Preludes for piano.
Link to page for his earlier recordings you can find bottom of page Discography.
About his earlier works I like most his two first Concerto and Symphony Poems
For my opinion both of those two first album are purely ingenious as well than this Velesslavitsa.
