@TitanicGirl23 you need to shut your mouth, Bruce is no coward he saved many countless lives that night like Edith Russel, and if you don't know who that is then you don't have an interest in the Titanic at all!
I think that this is a very good video, I am an Ismay and in fact, one of the very few left in this world. If anybody wants to stand up for Bruce Ismay, especially with the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic coming up, please inbox me from this channel, thank you.
Of the 58 men who survived, Bruce Ismay, the Managing Director of the White Star Line, received the most criticism, and in 1913, Ismay resigned from his job and from public life. London society labeled Bruce Ismay one of the biggest cowards in history, and both the American and English press ruthlessly attacked him. Some papers even published cartoons of Ismay deserting the ship.
Plus Joseph Bruce Ismay had not told the captain to speed up the boat where there was icebergs that was the captins decision and also he didn't think they would need so many lifeboats because there were other ships nearby and the flares the captain shot were NOT signalled as stress so the other ships had not realised that Titanic was sinking until it had fully sunk so get ya facts right @Flamorgan & @TitanicGirl23 & @JAMESFREDDYENGLAND !!!!
@LauraJayneIsmay98 You must get your facts right. The Titanic had fired white distress rockets, and while that didn't automatically mean distress, the crew on a nearby ship the 'Califorian' stated themselves that ''ships don't fire rockets at sea for nothing''. While they weren't 100% sure the rockets meant distress, they certainly had suspicions. And while I don't want to say anything bad about Ismay, you can't defend him simply because he was your relative.
Well ya no what none of you know what really happened I do and I have the documents to prove it its not like the film ya no there was a lot of ships nearby and the captain didn't shoot he flares consistunantly they only did every few minuites so it was not signalled as a stress call so wheeey
There are people hating on my relative Bruce Ismay well I dont blame him for getting in a life boat cause without him the titanic wouldn't even be built
@LauraJayneIsmay98 Yeah then maybe 1500 people wouldn't have been killed because he didn't want more life boats and coercing the captain to reach top speed in an area where icebergs were common. He didn't want life boats because he thought it wouldn't look nice, and he wanted to speed up so the Titanic could gain attention by arriving early, what a pompous twat.
@TitanicGirl23 He is a hero for not believing women are worth more than men. Good for him for fighting for his life, while a woman who could have taken his place, died. I'd do the exact same thing.
also frederick fleet in the movie looks like a middle aged guy in his 40's acting all arrogant on the crow's nest. in fact he was 24 at the time and he couldn't see the iceberg because it was a blue moon type on one of the calmest sea nights ever, he survived because he was assigned to a life boat and hanged himself when his wife died in 1965 because he, like ismay and several others spent the rest of their lives very poor in a state of guilt. ismay was so hurt no one could even mention titanic.
people rely too much on the cameron version. the cameron version has some amusing scenes but no one who takes the titanic story seriously will watch that movie. ismay got off on one of the last lifeboats because everyone else on the ship was refusing to get off. what was he going to do? die in vain even though no one else wants to take the room. and the captain didn't seal himself in his wheel room, he died trying to put children in a capsised lifeboat.
@ultradumbass We're not 100% sure that Ismay simply stepped into the boat. He might have been ordered in by the Chief Officer, but I don't want to go on about that. About Captain Smith, though. There is one theory he tried to put a child onto Coll. A, but not the only or even most trusted theory. For all we know he could have died on the bridge, but I believe he simply froze to death in the water.
@Teritus911 i heard of the captain theory i doubt the ismay one however is true, he even admitted that after nobody else wanted to get on he jumped in himself, i guess deciding there is no point of him dying simply because everyone else is refusing.
WHOEVER BELIEVE ABOUT ISMAYS HEADLINES IS AN IDIOT.
Titanic couldnt go more than 25 knots, while Cunards Mauretania and Lusitania had a record i think of 30 knots.
Anway Titanic was designed for Luxury and Comfort.TITANIC'S CREW FROM 1ST OFFICERS TO THE ENGINERS,MOST OF THEM DIED LIKE HEROES.And i cant blame Ismay for leaving the ship.I mean Andrews died like hero too,but Ismay,we call him easy coward but lets see ourselfs in the same situation.RIP 15/4/1912!!!!!
@xpo50. Why are you commenting stuff I already know, where in my comment does it say that I didn't know what you just said. Go talk to people who do no know about the titanic, because for some reason you think I don't.
I'm not saying it was Thomas Andrews fault or the Captain or Ismay, they all made mistakes, they believed they had a safe ship, and of course they didn't, but how were they to know what would happen, no one did. It was a tragic tragic accident. Oh and how about the closest ship who could've saved those people, but they went to bed, are you people seriously going to blame this all on one man, just because he wanted to live, something everyone tried to do that night. you put humanity to shame.
@mckfrr You dont realize that at the time people had to follow strict rules as to their place. men were meant to wait and be stoic as the women and children, or those who could what was seen at the time less readily help themselves. The fact is while in todays society we say oh he was just looking for his life, back then he was expected to face his death with bravery in such an incident. See Guggenheim
@EmpireLS56W. The thing is you don't know exactly what happened, you weren't there, waiting to die, a lot of people did things to get on those lifeboats, he was no different. You know what upsets me about people like you, is because you look for on person to blame this on. It was not just his fault, there were other factors, like the Captain or the telecommunicators ignoring ice warnings, Thomas Andrews saw the building of this ship why not blame him, oh I know because he died and Ismay didnt
The reason Captain Smith was put in change was because he was clearly called CAPTAIN! And he could have should have put Ismay in fucking lifeboat tied the back end of Titanic or better still kick off the ship and the tragic incident would never have happened. Ismay was labelled “a coward” who sank into recluse because of his shame of letting 1500 souls, die needlessly.
Ismay was nick named Brute Ismay. When the life boats were being lowered, he wasone of the first to occupy one and didn't cae about any one else. Hence his nick name. @phob4years, with respect, don't call titanic a boat. Titanic is a ship. Captain Smith was a proud man. Shame his last voyage was for definate. There is a photo of him standing by the Grand Staircase looking very proud. The titanic was the A380 of the airliner world. Huge and technically advanced.
he told the cvaptain smith to go faster to be the fastest boat to reach titanic while passing the iceberg which made the boat hit the berg. the captain wanted to go slow so you could get passed the iceberg but ismay maintained pressure on him.
he paid the price for getting in a life boat leaving woman and children to die,he spent the rest of his life in shame even though he claimed he thought all woman and children were in life boats. what a coward
