  • The buildings tumbled in on themselves.

Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble,

    and pulled out their hair.

The skyline was beautiful on fire.

    All twisted metal stretching upwards.

Everything washed in a thin orange haze.

I said:"Kiss me, you're beautiful, these are truly the last days."

You grabbed my hand and we fell into it like a daydream or a fever.

We woke up one morning and fell a little further down, for sure it's the valley of death.

I open up my wallet and it's full of blood..

  • @fixajob1 cool story i like it

  • I've *accidentally* been to East Hastings, it serves it well. I've also seen 28 Days Later, it serves IT well, as well.

  • ..

  • 28 Days Later made this song scary O.O

  • Yeah, this song makes me think of chocolate... dark, rich, powerful, and over all amazing!!

  • This song make me think about our end ,I mean about humanity end :/

  • @Lord0Grozella it does.

  • @mayorsoffice

Yep, an entertaining thought.. one day

  • fuck yes!

  • Das ist so deprimierend und fazinierend zu gleich, ohne es mit Wörtern zu verdeutlichen.

  • the riff at 2:33 sounds familiar. anyone know where it's from?

  • @mastuda434 i might be wrong but i think Nick Tha 1Da sampled some of this for his music that he had in the movie Loose Change. otherwise, pastamoose is 100% correct.

  • 28 Days Later blew me away!!!

  • @42persons Being is the only thing important.

  • I reckon some of the wises people are here, saying stuff that really makes you think. Amazing what music is capable of doing, I love it.

  • man i would hear this soung if im the last man on earth

  • @mayorsoffice not religion, but freedom. religion is a parasite.

  • Exterminio !!!

  • there is no one true universal meaning or moral. We just choose whatever makes us feel safe and good at the end of the day....... its depressing really ;(

  • these comments are full of stoners

  • @tylertheart and how!

  • Amazing music, works perfectly in that one video " most evil villians" or something like that

  • @mayorsoffice - Like Gerge Carling said, the earth will still be here and it will shrug us off like a bad case of fleas. We are all a failed natural experiement. :-(

  • @Nautilus04 but i wanna be a winner :(

  • F#A# brings me right back to my days of wandering portland oregon....alone in the rain.

  • Such an emotional song...for such an emotional period in my existence...

  • @42persons Thats heavy bro

  • @mayorsoffice true but you can't beat the media. elites control media, banks, and corporations. it's just how it is.

  • hail satan

  • @dacealksne This song has nothing with Satand to do.

  • who looks at the sky everey night with this kind of music

  • ...Makes you think of the old times, off what you have done, what you could have done differently...

...makes you think if you had not been there if something would have been different...

...makes you think deep till you reach the roots of your heart and the things you feel...

  • @42persons You're a cheerful bugger :D

  • @JarheadM4A1 Lol thanks man i try my hardest.

  • 05:00

  • Who is the last picture by? Looks like Cthulhu, except by Gustave Dore.

  • 28 days later :/ scary ass film...

  • wat if the life we wer living was fake

  • @TheFuckOffMe What if the time you spent dreaming was the closest to reality you could ever perceive?

  • @clarkygorny why is it that when you love a girl it only looks better in your dreams cuz in real life we think different and and reactions change wen your nearby that person..sorry i think alot

  • @clarkygorny like wen i dream about her and i kissed her once in i my dreams and i told my self wow it feels like nothing..but wen i wake up and i want a see her and i do..my reaction changes to i dont give a fuck..she would never go out with me..

  • @TheFuckOffMe Get out of my head!!

  • @SirBeastly74 I'm hearing ya'.:/

  • @SirBeastly74 haha

  • I...I...I...I have no words to say about this song. It is an amazing or better, an EPIC masterpiece of music with out any lyrics guiding your thoughts just your imagination and the music in a composition that can't be described.

  • Watch this high. The music is so beatiful. Its like magic in my ears.

  • @SirBeastly74 Yes... me too... :(

  • Was this song used for the movie 28 Days or 28 Weeks Later?

  • @maharley27

    read above.

  • @maharley27 28 days.

  • @Anestheticfun -Yeah, i got it, Thanks :)

  • @Anestheticfun

    Later.

  • @SirBeastly74 Unless of course you.... REPLAY :D

  • @bloodyrain414 GENIUS!!! :D

  • @SirBeastly74 LOLzzzzz.. :D

  • I love this song It's probably the main reason that liked the movie 28 Days later as much I did. It just goes to show that the music choosen in a movie is just as important as the plot development.

  • @Knightus100 Recently I saw this movie called Insidious. I was so impresed by the music that now its one of my favorite horror movies.

  • Best movie song ever. It fits in just perfectly

  • Waiting for 28 Weeks later sequel!

  • @TeamXOnDX i so cant wait for 28 months later. its gonna be magic

  • @YaBoyKPAY lol okey dokey :)

  • omg... I close my eyes and see....a lifes journey. Like someone walking up a "road" the people and places along the sides are parts of their life, good and bad, pain and pleasure a life of memories.... and at the end.... at the end.... it is the end. God its beautiful! I am in tears.

  • 10ή εντολή και κόκκινος κύκλος.

  • Disaster. Devastation. Hopelessness. Despair. Death. Destruction.

Just a few things this song makes me think of.

  • this shall not be disliked.

  • I love how midway through the song it changes up to a depressing melody and gets more violent and speeds up.

  • This song.... I cant stop listening to it. Its beautiful. Captivating. Just pure genius. I felt my heart burning at 4:11 and my stomach drop towards the end. Its as if all emotions were put into one song. And its brilliant.

  • Why did Wings have this song title for his video? It's not even relevant. 0_o

  • "A large barge with a radio antenna tower that would charge and dis-charge" That actually cracked me up.

  • My friend played me this song whilst I was high and we just sat there in silence and appreciated it to the end. It was a fantastic experience. And I just felt so euphoric with shivers down my spine the whole time. I just found it again now, after hearing it for the first time about a month ago. Upon hearing the guitar riff that comes in at 0:17 I got major goosebumps. A fantastic musical journey. <3

  • Great music to read to.

  • Long live to Canada

    :P

  • This melody is based on a greek composer's one, Manos Hadjidakis. Awesome.

  • how do i get this song?!

  • Isn't this song called "Sad mafioso" ?

  • @RikiMartinee No it really isn't.

  • @ThingOfDoom Um, yeah it is. East hastings is the name of this entire song (which is really twenty minutes long) this just a section of the song, which is called 'Sad Madioso.'

  • @Cryoshock123 mafioso, sorry! XD

  • @Cryoshock123 Oh yeah, sorry, forgot about the sub names. They're all usually in one track though, although it depends on the release

  • 31 people don't like this? I respect that!

  • When I here this, I just can't help but think of ghost towns, Like Chernobyl. When I hear this, It reminds me of disaster, suffering and death.

  • I made a post rock song.

  • For 8 minutes and 12 seconds I lost myself....

  • ME FASCINA ESTA CANCION, ES HERMOSA, PERTURBADORA, DESOLADA Y DEMASIADAMENTE MELANCOLICA..... LA AMO.

  • Postapokalypse! x-()

  • I LOVE THIS MELODI

  • Now outside it's raining ..and i hear this melody ..i feel like sky's crying with me ..

  • @kounoupi94 same here

  • As Seen On:

    Wizard 101 Central

    What?

  • The first time I heard the guitar part starting at 4:36, I was on the verge of tears.

  • THIS IS THE LIFE SONG!!

  • this song reminds me times when i took walks in forest in winter... damn,,, i want winter again

  • @m4rn4 Me too. Especially when the aura of moon exploded across the winter skies. So ..immense.

  • @m4rn4 She's coming. soon we can all fall in love with this song.

  • @m4rn4 Winter is approaching. Looking forward to it :)

  • @SirBeastly74 right there with you brother; you're not alone!

  • лучшая пост-рок группка:-з

  • Out fucking standing.

  • Lovely, but nothing beats Moya.

  • Hi guys this 2:32 sounds like this watch?v=P8ugiER8-24 do they mention any influences?

  • @tsoukalator IMAGINE!!!

  • Very post-apocalyptic

  • AMAZING !!!

  • @SirBeastly74 "Loop" ;)

  • @jmilco ummmmm no. Not at all.

  • @Einkanstein What I meant was... You should get the song on you ipod and put it on repeat, so you never have to go back to you life!

  • @jmilco lol I thought you ment that peice of shit fiasco! you could also freeze urself and waking up to this song LOL, start walking around deserted streets.

  • postcard from the world....music from the interior world

  • this song rapes my dreams, godspeed

  • Can anyone tell me other bands that make a song feel so life changing? Anyone have songs like this if so please tell me.Need to hear more music like this

  • @eNd0x11 They have a different style than GSYBE but are an equally life changing band. I HIGHLY reccommend (The American Dollar) and especially their song (Second Sight)...they are an incredable post rock band.

  • @PopFlipCatchStickRol Thanks for the recommendation - They are brilliant, indeed.

  • @eNd0x11 explosions in the sky

  • this song is so fucking amazing!!!!

  • watch?v=gsX_FnBgbvw

    start listening at 5:30

It's delightfull to see artists geting inspired by our national composer

  • @Arnadath wow, wonder if its purely coincidental or if they actually used that as a starting point, good find on the "sample"

  • @zeppelin2k thank you kind sir, I think it was a coincidence, because it is a rare but beautiful musical motiff in metaclassic period. The song by hadjidakis itself was written circa 1960 and it wouldnt be really difficult to be found and inspire talented musicians like GYBE.

  • this is a wonderfully put together song i fuckinn love itt!!

  • ti treli kommatara....apisteuti...

  • Where is the fucking EPIC Button!

This song has crushed my soul :X

  • i'm in such a down mood and i've listened to this song 4 times in a row now. why the hell does it have to end?

  • Such a well structured song, starts out so calm and ends with so much intensity.Much like the earth we live in.

  • The second half of the song is soo sick

  • It really reminds me of "Over" by Portishead, the year before. Great melancholic soundscape.

  • lonlier than the desert- genius!!!

  • F♯ A♯ ∞ = best post rock album ever.

  • awesome!! i heard some turkish sounds.. wonderfull!!

  • Someone needs to make a Red Dead Redemption video with this song because that's pretty much all I could think of when I first I heard this song.

  • Good stuff. Does anyone else have deep thoughts while listening to post rock? Thoughts about life, beauty, the world...things that you can't find time to think about till you turn up the volume and open up your mind. I sit listening to song after song, my mind traveling from one idea or thought to the next over and over and over...I enjoy these moments of clarity for my horizons have expanded and the burden that is life feels somewhat lighter. Good stuff.

  • @DarkApostleMatt

nice said, I have the same feelings.

  • @DarkApostleMatt

good on you, i give u a thumbs up, but in my case i hear this song and i just think of fucking somebody up

  • 28 Dislikes Later

  • the guy at the end. something abt discharge? just epic.. epic as fuck!

  • I think instrumental music represents the mere purity of artistical freedom. The absence of lyrics makes music free from any kind of "musical semantical" criterion , arousing a series of differents , free emotions .

  • @FriKKuzzo : Sometimes lyrics can add a whole new dimension as well.

  • @dutchhaze1 Yes , like Sigur Ros for example . :D

  • @FriKKuzzo In fairness though, most people can't understand the lyrics to Sigur Ros so his voice just acts as another instrument anyway.

  • inspiring and beautiful =]

  • they have a large barge with a radio antenna tower on it that they would charge up and discharge

  • i like the whole song, but from 4:30 onward its best imo...

  • I get chills every time I hear this song. It's haunting, but beautiful at the same time in a really desolate kind of way.

  • Just awesome, Love this album. Stop your shit and go buy this.

  • Even before 28 Days, that melody was, and always will be, the sound of desolation.

  • @skfreeagainsk no sir. making music for a commercial film would probably be the last thing GY!BE would do. but they have allowed many people to use their music. see their Wikipedia page for a list.

  • @jeffgorchynski yeah I didn't think so but I wondered because it just fit so perfectly.

  • 3:05 best part

  • 4:48 love that pic

  • It's been a long time since music has moved me this much...

  • I love the part at 7:00

  • Sonic Boner!

  • This song is 8 minutes of straight build up.. When I first ssaw 28 days later I fell in love with this song as the theme 2 years after seeing that movie my friend shows me the band And so I watch you from afar (check them out) and I fall in love with post rock after searching through similar bands I found these guys. It was like a sign I loved this song in the movie but had no idea that there where bands making this awesome music, it all comes full circle GODSPEED post rock.

  • this a reference to vancouver's east hastings?

  • damn i love this. it kind carrys u away :P
