  • Thank You Lazy Man! Picked up everything needed from Home Depot, just got done cleaning my EX360 and it was pretty clean to say the least! Now onto the RX240 and the rest of my stuff! Going to be cleaning all of my water blocks/rads using this method now, + a million to you sir

  • @Quicks1lvr Glad this video helped.....good luck with your build.

  • What can I say, you helped me again....

I was driving past a main road yesterday and found a broken fountain... i ripped it apart then and there and extracted the pond pump. What do you know, its a fucken beast. Im about to go buy a water filter and do exactly what youre doing

    TY LAZYMAN

  • @morph2g Cool...I always keep my eyes open too.....I just found a piece of diamond plate aluminum 4ft X 5ft 3/8" thick...what a find. Not sure what i will use it for, but I will find something.

  • What a nice professional video and very helpful! I flushed my Hardware Labs radiators with Sparkletts distilled water (not expired yet) and I guess I didn't get all of it out after sealing it up with threaded caps and a month later noticed this greenish blue crust that appeared to be growth of some sort, how could this happen using distilled water? It was still damp inside my radiators. Thanks Lazyman

  • @Systemlord30 Not sure bro....what type of coolant did you use in your loop....that way have been it as distilled water would not cause that. I always use distilled water in any WC'ing setups I do. Not a big fan of dyed coolants.

  • hey lazyman, is using tubing coming from a sink, to the rad, and then from the rad to the sink to empty it, is that good enough?

  • @BIGBOE133 Yeah, that would be fine..... as long as you are using a filter.

  • @BIGBOE133 you can do it, but there might be some metal particles and minerals in the tap water. you can run the water from the sink, but using a filter and a small fishtank pump is what I use

  • This is a great idea. Thanks.

  • It would actually better to have the filter before the rad instead of after it. That way only clean water is sent to your radiator, and no gunk from the bucket or the pump is pumped into your rad.

  • @moomee237 No worries bro, as the filter catches everything, so no gunk makes it into the bucket.....therefore the rad is getting clean water.

Also, if the filter was before the rad as you suggested, you wouldn't have any protection between the rad and the pump. This routing could risk clogging the pump with any gunk that came from the rad. And as you saw from the pics there was plenty of gunk.

  • Great video, I'm planning on using this vid to flush out my entire loop. I was wondering, would I be able to flush the entire loop out using this method instead of doing each part one at a time?

  • @jezbong Yes you can.....but make sure you bypass the pumps. I prefer to do the rads independent of the other components due to how much crap is in them....don't want to get something lodged into one of the blocks. But if you have already rad your system with out any issues then you should be fine.

    Good Luck

    LazyMan

  • Thanks Lazy for this cool video.

Can't wait to see another awsome build from you!

    YOUR THE MAN!

  • this works so perfect, I had cleaned all my radiators like this and I had to watch this again just to refresh my thoughts on how well he has execute this process

  • This is BY FAR the best way to thoroughly clean your Rads. Can't find another that's better. Thanks for the time that you put into this. Also the 2 cam shot is just fine. Most wouldn't even go the distance to even use a REAL cam, but their cell phone. Also, I like the dramatic eerie soundtrack used to create the effect needed to show how NASTY that gunk was collected at the bottom of the filter. Nice touch. Take a vid pro you did a clean, tight, very well explained vid. Thanks again, Lad... :-)

  • @ReNuTechSolutions Thanks bud, really appreciate your kind words. You should come and join my WCM's FB group and sub my YouTube channel

  • @WestCoastMods: actually I just did. Hope you can do the same for us. I'm sending you a message right now. If you have a brief moment, can you call me? I had a question for you... Thanks...

  • @WestCoastMods Where did you get these things, and where can i get some in sweden perhaps?

  • @lillskiten1337 I got the pump and filter from Home Depot......not sure where you can get them in Sweden.

  • This video was VERY helpful. I need to flush my entire loop though, im starting to have buildup and i think creachers are growing in it :P

  • @GT5Enthusiast Oh no not creatures...lol

  • Sorry but what does RAD mean

  • @KDBroadCastings Rad=Radiator

  • Excellent info to know. Never seen any other starter guides mentioning this, and I would think it would be important.

Do you have more info on the GE filter, such as model number or what it's normally used for so I can find one. Thanks.

  • @ScytheNoire It's a simple water filter that I got from Home Depot...about $30-$40 USD

  • why should we flush the rad??

  • @vipire Don't flush it then...I really don't care.

  • @vipire why should you flush the toilet ??

  • @DeathMetalMike138 because U shit puke and created florida swamp!!

  • @vipire You should check out some of the pics of the water that comes out of the rads after flushing them. Besides, you don't want things growing in your loop, nor do you want particles getting clogged in the water block pins.

  • i just used you technic and i got so much residue out of my loop thanks

  • @Valadcm500 Good job, ppl just don't know, especially if you try o rinse in in your sink...you will never see the fine little crap.

  • are this bugs living inside the rad

  • @AhmedMHIZ2010 hehe

  • @WestCoastMods Is that regular tap water ur using? Thx

  • @siwini Distilled water...I never use tap water as it has deposits and minerals that you don't want in your loop

  • @WestCoastMod Thanks man! How long you leave it on for flush? 2days too long?

  • @siwini 2hrs is plenty...but I would stop it and drain as much as possible and re-start about every 30min. This will help get loosen up any stubborn debris.

  • i never did that to my rad when i first installed my kit -_- 6 months = today my pump failed

  • Great video, you explain everything very clearly and effectively.

Quick question.. Do you think that it is as all possible for some of the debree to have come from the pump purchased at home depot? I only ask because it was green which may indicate the pond pump was tested with pond water...

I'm probably completely wrong but do you think it is a possibility?

  • @johnjorgemusic Sure it's possible, but I had flushed a few other rads prior and had cleaned the filter before making this video. But that doesn't mean that there still wasn't reside still in the pump.

  • @WestCoastMods I see... Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

  • What causes the debris? Is it crystalization of the coolant?

  • @Taylexwow It's from when the rad was manufactured....flux, slag, ect from the welding process. Not sure what the green shit is, but I have seen it in many different rads. Of course some worst than others.

  • thanks for the great vid, this inspired me to build my own flushing system... I should have a response video up in a week or so.

  • @MyRandomuser123 Sounds great...be sure to send me a video response.

  • Great video again LazyMan - Keep up the good work! can you please provide weblinks for the filter and the pump you are using ?

  • @fizzistuff Thanks bro, unfortunately I don't have web links as I bought them at Home Depot.

  • Picked up the same filter you are using and a bigger pump with 1/2id. I dont have the 1/4 x 1/2 fittings for the radiator yet. But i did jerry rig something for a quick test. Got much much flow barely any air . Should have the fittings Tuesday and ill be good to go. Thanks for all the tips

  • @coloredtoad Sounds good.....

  • thanks man fir sharing! !

  • @siwini Thanks for the comment

  • I went to Lowes today and got a set up like this. Having some issues though. I already had 3/8" ID fittings so i got tubbing to match. I also got a a fairly cheap Whirlpool filter(was just a filter with a cap to house the fittings) and the pump was 140gph. I set it all up and it was just packed with air bubbles. The pump seemed to be just to weak. Do you recommend a stronger pump? and at least 1/2 ID tubing?

  • @coloredtoad Not really sure..if you were to ask me before you tried it, I would have said it should be fine. But now that you are having problems, I wondering what it could be. I do get some bubbles when I run mine, but after about 5min all the bubbles are gone. So maybe it is the size of tubing you're using.....I would go try some 1/2" tubing and if that doesn't solve your problem, then maybe the pump is the culprit..but I wouldn't think so. Try it without the filter and see what happens.

  • @WestCoastMods Yea i'm pretty sure its the crappy filter i got. I set up a loop of just pump/rad/bucket and the water was flowing great. So ill grab a bigger filter, just hope i can get all the proper fittings. Might even try some bigger tubing also.

  • @coloredtoad Yeah ,I would get some bigger tubing..it's pretty cheap and with the added volume you will get better results.

    Good luck

    LazyMan

  • Does the filter have 1/4 thread?? So you can use your own fittings?

  • @coloredtoad No the filter I used has 3/4" port, so I just bought 2 - 3/4"x 1/2" plastic adapters. You can pick them up at most hardware stores. They are very inexpensive, like a $1.00 ea.

  • @WestCoastMods Ohh ok cool hopefully they make 3/4"x 3/8" Adapters.

  • @coloredtoad Sure, you will have no problem

  • @WestCoastMods Broken? Oops! This time on my native russian service:

    s004.radikal.ru/i205/1103/20/0e5a9f0144c1.jpg

  • @iMasterFreez Thanks bro, wow that look like soy milk...lol

  • Wow that was pretty cool how you did that. Great job and thank you for the tip.

  • @WestCoastMods This is picture from build CogentParadigm on ChilledPC just to see how dirty out dist.water after flushing stock radiators (Thermochill PA 120.3) img508.imageshack.us/i/attachment34.jpg I was shocked :D

Thanks for video, i think that this is the best way to clean without litres of some ultra clean liquid

  • @iMasterFreez Thanks bro, the link was broken.

  • Nice vid my friend and i love the dual camera angles!!

  • Hi

it puts the computer in a freezer...

it will save all the radiating tubes and lost of time

  • @merysantapola Not sure what you mean?

  • WOW! lazy man you really caught all the junk with that setup great job.

  • @WARFOX101 Yeah, it's amazing how much junk is in those rads.

  • Hey, does this happen to be my case :) Got it in the mail when I got back from Kuwait, and the work you did on the 360 and 240 RAD installation is absolutely gorgeous :) Thanks again.

  • are you native american? you look like a friend of mine that is

  • @KlingonSpider Yes, born in San Francisco

  • Many thanks for this informative video. :)

I myself got two XSPC RX120 rads, and despite about 25 flushes with hot water, the gunk just won't stop. It looks exactly like the crap stuck in the filters at the end of your video. I was looking at maybe purchasing one of these, and simply hooking it up to my normal pump/res setup, with the two dirty radiators and filling with distilled:

    bearingboys.co.uk/Miniture_Filter_20_micron_G1_4-26159-p?shopping

Do you reckon that will work?

  • @aircraftdude Sure, that will definitely work better than flushing manually with hot water. At 20 micron, you won't get everything but you will see a definitely see a difference..

    Good luck

  • Great work on the dual-cam set up, lighting was a lil off on the second one but still very good. I'm finishing up my gpu upgrade so before i seal it off i was going to flush out the system BUT...my rig is very similar to the Skull Crusher....and a major pain in the ass to take out the top rad...you think i could just flush the entire system with the components in the case? I could extend the tubing to reach the pond pump, bucket and filter....but would the pump pressure mess up my blocks?

  • @oqsajec Yeah, you should be fine....Home Depot sells many types of pond pumps..I believe the one I bought could over come 3ft. of head pressure. They sell a smaller one (around 1.5ft. head pressure) which is also cheaper. Good luck bro

  • @WestCoastMods Any idea what pump it was? There are tons @ HD and I didn't know where to begin.

  • @AreleEvE I believe there is only 4 or 5 different ones, this was the second smallest. I believe it was powerful enough to over come 3ft of head, sorry don't remember the gals per min. Make sure it is a pond pump in the garden section.

    Hope this helps

    LazyMan

  • What do you use to clean out the fins of rad. Also, do you use a vacuum for cleaning out the dust bunnies? I find the air cans just chased the dirt around.

    Thanks

  • @1timby I use this, it's basically a super dustbuster blower : Metro Data Vacuum ED500 Datavac Electric Duster. Never touch a can of compressed air again.

  • @1timby I use my 30 gal air compressor with a adjustable tip to regulate the air pressure.

  • Lazyman its leaking all over your desk!

  • @SkodaMart Yeah, one of the fittings seemed to be a little loose.... lol

  • Interesting procedure, I like it.

Kind of shocking seeing all the crap that came out of the rads..

  • @TylertheGeek28 yeah, it is really amazing...one wouldn't think so much crap would be still in the rad...you think maybe they should flush them after manufacturing them.....?

  • what i do is connect some tubing from my bath tap to the rad and then switch the hot water on and it flushes out my radiators very fast and then i leave it to dry out, but as for the mineralls in the water its not too bad.

  • @badboycarlos Sounds good, what about your other components...do you flush them?

  • @WestCoastMods yh i flush them seperetly

  • Hell.....the 2 cameras are great! Good video and I love the two views.

  • damn hire me :D

  • @Beech165 Hire to flush rads...?

  • @WestCoastMods

no no work there but ofc thats was a joke ;)

  • Going to home depot today. Expect my rads this week and will clean them using this method. Plus I've switched jets in my EK cpu block and noticed how difficult the O ring can be to get into place. I want to loop test it using this to test for leaks and clean out any thermal paste that may have got inside of it. Thank for the video.

  • @traffety Sounds like a plan, yeah this is a good way to make sure everything is leak free.

    Good luck

  • sweet video. i sometime want to do a water cooling system, but for now I have a h50. found out you dont want to use the fans corsair packs with it, use a higher rated fan then those or its going to be good as a air cooler.

  • Hell yeah hes back . those camera post were wack

  • ?????? the dest ? from the liquid?

  • Hey Lazyman, I think you did a wonderful job with the dual camera setup. The only thing that i can see that is a little off is the White Balance on your second camera. I have no idea why you call yourself Lazyman, You Sir are most definitely not Lazy. You are by far my favorite Modder / Builder / Reviewer on Youtube. Your videos look very professional and the level of detail and creativity that you put into your builds is simply amazing. Keep up the great work and please keep the vids coming.

  • is that the skull crusher before you prettied it up in the background?

and where the hell can i get a WCM hat?

  • @adamXatomic No the Skull Crusher is long gone...this one and several others are just case's where the client wanted me to mod it for a 360 or a 240 rad or both....getting tired of working with the 800D though, as this is the 4th one...lol anyway as you see in the video this only had one fill port as the Skull Crusher had dual ports.

Hats...yeah, I though about ordering some and selling them, but didn't know how many ppl would want one. I would have to order in bulk to keep the price down.

  • @WestCoastMods ill buy a hat

  • @Zomgwtfbbq1228 well, maybe I will order some and do a video offering them....or do the video first then order them...not really sure.

  • EXTREME BUCKET MOD

  • @d4rksektor Oh yeah!

  • Holy crap, I think this is the first time I've seen you Lazy Man. Haha.

  • @xXAlphaRevanXx I'm like a hermit crap, I only come out of my shell once and a while...lol

Actually I am some of my other vids, you must of missed them.

  • good job my friend !

  • Good video lazyman.Wow that is crazy all the shit that is in a new rad.If i ever decide to go with a water cooling set up i will be flushing it for sure.

  • @fixx572 It is a must, also make sure you flush the other WC'ing components too.

  • @WestCoastMods even pump?

  • @aschris87 If the pump is not already installed in the case or is not a problem to remove, then you could just use it as the pump in the flushing system. I prefer to use a secondary pump first to get most if not all the crap from the rads, then I will switch over to the actual pump from the WC'ing setup...I forgot to mention that in the video. You do risk getting some crap lodged in the pump during flushing, so thats why I use a 2nd pump initially.

  • also use warm water and a mix of vinegar and water to get rid of the flux residue

  • @cavemanleet I would not recommend using vinegar, if you use to much or you don't get all of it out during the final rinse it can cause damage to your copper blocks. I have read on some forums ppl using vinegar, but I personally don't feel it's necessary...at least the risk don't out weigh the results. As you saw in the video, Just by flushing it with distilled water, using a pump it gets most of the junk, including the flux residue, if not all With this method I haven't had a pump or block clog

  • @WestCoastMods true there is risk with using vinegar, as long as you flush after with water and keep flushing until you drain water thats as clear as when it went in (about ten flushes on average). Its generally suggested to use a mix of 10% vinegar and 90% water but I found your flushing forever with that method so I use 100% vinegar. I've found you have to with rads from the likes of HW labs who dont use a water soluable flux.

  • @cavemanleet Dude 100% vinegar.....thats insane...I am curious to see if it has any ill effects...because I can't believe you were able to rinse it completely, just because the color of the rinse water appears to be clear, there are probably very small amounts left. I personally would never do that, and especially on a client build....

    Good luck

  • Thanks for this. Very useful information.

  • the dual camera was actually quite nice! being able to see you and different angles etc was nice, great vid and holy crap thats alot of stuff in the water cooling loop! and thats only the rad? seems like a great idea to flush properly and especially for clients I see why you do it. 5/5!

  • @Amanntube Thanks bro. you wouldn't see much after flushing the other components as they are milled. The rad however is welded together, leaving behind a lot of junk during manufacturing.

  • The details you put in to your mods are amazing. You even used grommets on your bucket. Thought you said this was going to be a bad video. The only hiccup was the lighting on the 2nd cam - otherwise, your audio syncing and transitions were spot on.

  • @IridiumVIII Thanks bro.....yeah, I wasn't very happy with the second camera...almost didn't post it. Your right though one of the lights I used was facing almost directly into the camera, and the white balance was off along with the exposure. Hopefull next time I will get it right.

  • seems like a allot of work for a watercooled system

  • @TeQuiiLaSHoTZz It is, and the maintenance of a WC'ing system is a lot of work too....but the benefits are in most case well worth it.

  • great work lazyman!!!!!!

  • are you using a light stand for a tripod?

  • @xDjAsOnF No, I have two tripods and 2 light stands.....the light stand you see in the video has a light on it. But good observation....

  • Great vid as usual LazyMan.....as others have questioned do you have any knowledge about the Corsair H-50 and 70's as respects need for filtering?

  • @2stent No I really don't other than I am not very fond of them...When a highend air cooler can out perform them...why would someone use them in thier system......not sure if you have one..if so I mean no offenses.

  • @WestCoastMods None taken. I used a Mega Shadow with Gentle Typhoon 1850 RPM in Push Pull as I didn't want expense of liquid cooling but someday may move up to water cooled. Just wondered if the H50/70 wood be an interim step. Again, good to see you posting vids again!

  • @2stent If you decide to go Wc'ing my personally suggestion is to just go with a full setup. You most likely would see some improvements with a H70, but not enough to warrant the expense.

  • Awesome setup

dual cam was fine, just a little warm on the second cam.

  • @grpace Yeah a little warm and the sharpness was terrible.....thats the problem with DSLR's you can't keep things in focus at different focal lengths. Also I had one of my lights almost facing the camera...need to work on my lighting.

  • The only thing "bad" i can tell about the dual cams setup is the quality of the 2nd cam. But other then that, i looks good. The cuts from cam to cam seem to be at the right time. So i'm glad u took this next step to be the best modder on youtube, if you arn't already are ;) ;)

  • @tdsviper Yeah the second camera was terrible and that was the 60D DSLR....I have seen ppl shoot video with them and it's amazing. I just had the wrong settings, bad light, and probably many other mistakes...ned to read up more on how to get the most from it in video mode and practice more.....

  • It looked good for your first try man... Keep it up..

  • @jtmill077 Thanks bro

  • Great system you came up with and by the final look at the filter sure paid off!

  • @RickArter Isn't that the truth....Thanks Rick

  • is there weed in the filter xD?

  • @iScream90 Hehe

  • could you possibly put a filter in the computer???

  • @mafiameower You could but if you have a clean system and no contaminants your good to go until scheduled cleaning is needed.

  • @mafiameower Sure you could, but I would do an initial flush prior to installing the components in the rig. Also a filter make cause some restriction, maybe not enough to worry about. But if you flush them good to begin with I don't think a in-line filter would be necessary.

  • great video as always

  • If you really wanted to could you run the filter permanently

  • @crazyredneckwifknife Not really necessary...once the components are flush, they should be good to go...as long as you flush them thoroughly.

  • Hey Lazyman, I just bought an Ati radeon 5850 (on sale at Frys) to go along with my ancient Q9300 Core 2 Quad 2.5 ghz so I can play some on-line games at decent frames per second.... and I am happy with it... but I can't get rid of the idea of building a new rig with a silverstone case and couple of 6970s... LOL. Cool video by the way!

  • @fvgotch That sound awesome bro.....enjoy

  • you are not bad at all,l love all your videos, what about your rig can l see a video about it ?

  • @zaalen97 Thanks...my rig is the Black Widow..there are several vids on my channel....however there are none showing it complete as I got to busy with client builds so I had to put it on the back burner...may never finish it, but I am using it as my main rig.

  • Hey, great upload, like always. I like the two camera presentation of the video. Thumbs up and many greetings.

    FuenfamTag

  • @FuenfamTag Thanks buddy

  • Carlos Santana in the background =D

  • I love your vids! Great job as always....

    Keep on doing,...Bro

  • thanks i watch your last video about the dslr and i just wanned to ask you why did you choose canon instead of other thaks

  • @PcandTech Well thats a tough question..it was either Canon or Nikon...and both have their strong points, but because I was so happy with the Canon HF S100 video camera and the Canon S95 P&S that I own, I though I should just stick with Canon...very familiar with there equipment and menu/settings, ect. also the Canon is better for video over the Nikon and one of the reasons I wanted a DSLR was to shoot video along with stills.

  • Nice with 2 cameras, really look professional, gj man! keep doing that!

  • something was leaking near the rad

  • @Johnalexgray Yeah, one of the fittings wasn't all the way tight..

  • lazyman dropped his weed in the water before filling those radiators

  • @Mr937595 LOL...:-)

  • is this from ur canon?

  • @mike82y yeah the second camera was from the 60D...it shoots amazing video, but I F%&@ up the settings, and didn't realize it until I was finished shooting......also I had one of the lights facing the camera, which cause everything to be to warm and kinda fuzzy. Camera 1 was my Canon HF S100 video camera

  • what is all the green dirt, is it colouring form the water or what ?

  • @babydash123 Not really sure..it may be the kind of flux they use during manufacturing.....but to be honest I was surprised too.

  • How often do you recommend radiators should be flushed?

    Great video btw ☺

  • @anotherone10 I think if you do a good job the first time you should be good to go...but make sure you flush the rest of the WC'ing components.
