Thanks for uploading this. Helped me a lot to understand the concept of 'comping'. Little tip? Next time get a better camera-man. They kept focusing on the dog lol
Fabulous lesson. If I had one wish that would be to establish what voicing's you're using to comp. I'm hearing quartal voicings and a lot of upper structures over dominant 7th chords, but I'm clueless as to what extensions or color tones you're actually using and how you're voicing them. This lesson deserves a follow up lesson on just the voicings alone.
What the freakin heck? How the blazes did you manage to voice a V7 with Ab-Bb-C-F-Bb. Done once at 3;37 then the exact same voicing at 4:00 both times. That is no form of D chord, and I can't place it as a tritone sub. The upper structure resembles a dorian quartal voicing, but the LH does not fit. It makes no sense at all, but it sounds really cool and it totally works over the melody line. Please do explain :)

Also very interesting at 3:57. LH: A-Eb-G / RH: B(natural)-D.
F9 (#11)??
I didn't know that could be done in this context. Nice to run into a youtuber to knows what the hell he's doing. Very thankful for these videos!
