Certain government workers and one armed men/women can buy/carry them in any state.

@cfezuwm There is no safety switch but the switch that operates the blade takes a fair amount of pressure. I don't have a MT but I do carry a D/A OTF knife every single day and have had the pleasure of playing with a MT. I would say that my switch is even lighter than Micro Tech's but I have never had a problem with it deploying unintentionally. MT makes an awesome knife for sure and one of these days I'll break down and actually buy one. :)

@cfezuwm No safety, but it is VERY hard to trigger it, it takes A LOT more force to trigger it then any other knife. That is the safety. Also i had never had one double action otf disengage on me yet.

Had a microtech once. Had it for about a month and then it started acting up. Wouldnt fully deploy, dont know if it was the spring or not. got rid of it a short while after that.

Pretty slow. 0.1 seconds for the blade to shoot out, 9.7 seconds to get it out of the velcro case.

That's very funny ! I just show the sheaths as they come with the knife, you can keep the knife on the pocket clip. I think apart from halo3 only wave equipped knives are faster as far as folding knives are concerned but on the other hand they might be tricky in a stress situation. Halo is the best choice as it requires only a press of a button and your fingers are never in the blades way.

A little over priced knife. Get a KA-BAR military fighting knife. Size small or large. This KA-BAR is a good to use if you get attacked by a chip monkey or pit bull dog. I hate evil monkies! Monkies have ripped the faces off two or three people in the U.S.A. Sad fact.

I disagree. A dog isn't always gonna be lightning quick. They usually stalk you before they attack you. The key thing is not to lung at the dog, but put the knife in between you and hte dog, so the dog will lunge into the knife

Well 1st of all guns aren't easy to get all over the world :) US - Yes, where I live - NO. Second the $700 knives You're talking about are the new Scarabs, whitch are way overpriced. I bought mine for less then half that price a few years back. Last thing - these are mainly collectibles for me, I use one or two of them but mainly I use knives that I made myself.

Yea for real don't go cheap with OTF's they are intricate and must be well-manufactured.

I almost bought a cheappie but a friend of mine told me I was better off sticking with microtech. Just do you research and when you buy it make sure you know how to take care of it or ask.

personally i like the otfs that have a symetric double sided blade it looks better but as far as use a single sharp side works better

I live in New Zealand. I have 2 microtechs, makoraII and a tanto ultratech. also 2 protechs. All illegal here. All imported straight through our astute customs department :) This scarab tanto dlc is what i want most now. Best looking ,even over the makoraII. I hope to own this within 6 mths

what u can try to do is if u wanted one bad is get a kit. u could try finding a kit where they send u the parts (not in same package) and then u build it, so u have one and get it through customs

ya thats another option, or for different blade shapes smith and wesson has one too, exact same except for the blade. and its just not as cool as a duel action though, but i still am getting a schrade otf
