Problem is i have to plug my dvi's into a switch as i have only got 1 dvi output on my computer and that is used for the monitor. It would be so much easier to just be able to switch over the channel and have both my pc and my computer running the same thing but with the switch i have the pc screen goes off while i use it on my t.v very annoying.
can i plug the vga from the computer, to the back of a sky box, which is connected by scart to the tv? would that work? its just my tv is old and hasnt got the necessary ports. thanks a bunch
How do i connect my Acer APIRE (Windows 7) lap top (Vision) AMD to my LCD tv (Black Point) using VGA?tv will not detect PC?
When i connect the two the laptop detects the TV but the TV will not detect the laptop, I have only a VGA port on the laptop. I have already enable the external connection but the TV still tells me there is no signal. Please help!!

@sabz2011 idk if youtube does this, but some fullscreeen applications will change the resolution your computer is displaying in, and if its connected to a display that doesnt support that particular resolution, you wont see anything.
@Enigmishh if your TV is new it should have a HDMI slot just use that and the right source output (HDMI 1/2) and your TV speakers should present sound if not buy separate speakers.
YOUTUBE IS GREAT!!! They have videos for everything. I wanted to watch videos from Youtube on my TV. Now I know how I can do it. Just have to figure out what cords I have to have or buy. Thank you.
I want to record my xbox, can i connect my s-video cable to my tv and computer then go to my input 1 (using hd cables green, blue etc) and see it on my computer? Please reply and thanks!
Or you could just use HDMI-to-VGA. It's a little box with VGA in, and audio in on one side, and an HDMI out on the other. Or you could use it for VGA to HDMI.
@crazyflower12 use hdmi it runs bolth audio and video. Try a cheap video card with hdmi. I have been running my 48" bravia with a ati 5550 that I picked up for 30 bucks.
@garyzv ..are you sure about that? i've seen a software with usb connections to the pc, the other part has a device which uses its own graphics that plugs into the tv, so i believe one doesen't have to upgrade his card, just buy the software and connect both sides on.
ok i got my laptop screen to show up on my tv with vga and my question is. why is it that only my background of the desktop show up and not my windows or icons.
@Robotcam you probably have extended the desktop. The choices are extend (make both screens one big desktop, mirror (make both screens show same desktop) or make the secondary monitor (tv) the primary display. These options are in the personalize the display section under control panel
Today I only used the VGA Cable with the PC volume turned up enough to hear it.
I think on Mum and Dad's TV the Audio one goes in the 2 optional Audio L Audio R at the rear bottom or the side ones. On my Technica HD Ready TV I tried plugging the Audio Cable into the Line Out L and R which worked, basically the same thing only Line Out instead of Audio L,R
Me and my Mum and Dad where on the livefooty site today whatching Man U v Arsenal on our Grundig 37" HD Ready TV pretty good quallity too! I must admit I then even tried the earthcams site and youtube and even a DVD which had perfect quallity.
Some have Audio L and Audio R, some are known as Line Out L and R.
Ok I really need help. I brought my PC into my room to connect to my HDTV and I bought a DVI to HDMI cable and I hooked it up and the tv says no signal. I need help! PM me if you can help or have suggestions
I just got a new PC and I have 2 old PC's, I want to connect one to hdtv. One is P4 with 1gb ram and intel intel 82915g gv 910gl with VGA, and one is P4 with 764mb ram and ATI Radeon 9200SE 128MB with DVI and VGA. which one will be better for 720P content? I know 1080P is out of the question. Cheers.

okay i'm getting a vga to hdmi cable, do i still need a audio cable or not? if so i'm getting the belkin audio cable which has the red and white things. will it work?
I have used a VGA cable to get video on my LCD which works fine. But I am having trouble getting audio through my TV. I have tried an AUX(M to M) and an RCA cable too... None of them are working. HELP ME!!!!!!
i also have a problem. im trying to connect the pc to the tv witha vga, but when i plug them both in, i get no display. i'm using a desktop computer, and a 26" tv btw. im having to run the computer to the tv through hdmi just now, but i need it for other things, plus i heard for my kind of tv, vga produces a better quality, and i'm inclined to belive this. the qualtiy is awfully low. please help
PCmyTV.co.uk lets you know which cable you actually need. You don't necessarily need a HDMI cable, so use this site to search by Make and model to find out, or connect wirelessly.
I have apple tv, sony 3d tv and apple mac and I have been told that you can have tv as your pc monitor through apple tv and that too wirelessly ..does anybody know how to do that? Any links or user experience would be highly appreciated..
@imnyaar Never tried it on a mac, but google Wireless HDMI mac and you will see some products that can transmit audio and video without wires to an HDMI receiver plugged into the TV. The PC version I tested worked OK.

@MaDiTube You need an Audio cable, that almost look like the yellow, white, red, component cables, subtract the yellow cable and a male jack that will plug into your headphone port on your computer. Very cheap, 1-4$ you can buy just about anywhere and what happens is it will feed the audio from your computer but you can alter the sound to make it louder with your remote.
hi i have a vizeo hdtv that i jcould just use an hdmi cable to connect the pc to tv and works fine but my mom got a new 42'' flat screen sanyo brand tv and i still use hdmi cable and shows display but no soud what do i do

I have a VGA cable from my desktop pc that goes from the pc to computer monitor, would it work if i plugged the vga cord into my laptop and the back of my tv?
hi - i have a problem with the size of the image on the tv screen - i want it to be full screen, but the image is the same size as the pc screen image... anyone got an idea how to fix this please ?
Hi gary. I did this but now I want it the other way... I want to see my tv screen on my laptop/pc. So if im watching something on tellevision i can also watch it on my laptop.
Hi, i have an issue when doing this on my new laptop to my 55", for some reason when i connect my laptop to my tv it projects my laptop screen on the tv, however after a few minutes it goes blank and says no signal, this is a vizio hdmi tv and has an rgb input. my old laptop did not have the same problem when i would connect it to the tv so im wondering, is there anyway to trouble shoot this? if so please reply or pm me, thank you!
@XxTaNxMaNxX It sounds like your TV is having trouble syncing to the signal that your computer is putting out. Try Changing the display appearance to use a lower resolution. Right click on the background of the desktop, select "Personalize" then "Display Settings", and click on the second display to adjust the resolution to a lower number of pixels to see if the TV can stay in sync. More pixels (x times y) means the TV has to be faster for the incoming signal.
@XxTaNxMaNxX Its kind of like the projectors that my school uses we use to have smart boards but they got something thats supposed to be better and its simular but my one teachers just turns off by its self for no reason and the power ring around the actual projector is orange or red and is blinking and the first time it happened i was like uh oh it has the RRoD like the xbox 360 XD i have a xbox 360 but still tho its funny
*BUMPED COMMENT FROM DEVILLORD18* Best video about TV2PC I've found, but I've got some questions to ask.
Is it really that simple, no configuring the computer? No install software? Just plug in the correct cable and that'll work? Like I can stream anything on my PC to my TV? Can you name me some top TV video connector (1:38 onwards), and the price of it?
Thanks---- I really want to know this too, that's why I -bumped- this comment. Thanks! :)
Well I can connect through VGA my 5160 dell laptop to my HDTV in 1024x768 but when I use my other laptop Dell 1200 I can't see anything on my HDTV same resolution. any help?
What you need is a large bottle, you need to fill it just close to three quarter full. Course some black pepper and sea salt into a small yogurt, preferably natural. Smear this onto texture, look for texture, whatevers in style; this will build a foundation for your videos transition. get your camera phone and point it at the screen and record. Save and share brother!
@ThearKCentral Sounds like you are in extended desktop mode. Drag a window off the side of your screen and see if it appears on the TV. right click the desktop, select display properties - it will show you if there is a 2nd desktop. This is common on laptops. The other possibility is the screen size of you PC is higher that what the TV can display. try lowering your resolution until you see the windows start menu.
@garyzv OK Gary, I have this extended setting, and dragged a window onto the TV. I suppose this is how I would play YouTube videos or Hulu on it, while still using the PC for other things. This is difficult because I cannot maximize the windows and grab them with my mouse while they are on the TV, to change the settings. I tried to set the display for being the same on both monitor and TV, but the TV went blank. I would like them in unison, so I can see whatever I am doing with my PC, on my TV.
@Fritheby Sorry, I got the first part right now (I did not even really try--I was afraid of getting the window stuck away from the mouse, and did not see the mouse on the TV until I let the YouTube window go to expand on the TV). I still do not know how to duplicate the PC onto TV, like for a presentation mode. It comes up a dark screen.

@convener777 You need to connect the audio from the laptop to an audio input on the TV that is associated with the same video port so that when you switch the video input on the TV to the video port you hear the audio. Only HDMI willl carry both audio and video on a single wire. Most connections need a separate wire for the audio.
I've got an ATI Radeon 5970 that has 2x DVI and Mini Display Port. If I use this Mini DP/HDMI Converter to connect my PC to my TV, would it transfer VIDEO and AUDIO?

i plugged my laptop to my tv with the VGA cable but it just shows my screensaver even if im here on the internet it just shows the screensaver is there a place on my computer settings i can go to fix that??
Ok fine but what if I want to see my tv on my laptop? I have my tv wallmounted so I can't just move it back and forth? I would love to watch my tv in my garage which is right next to my room. I have plenty of cables. Help!
@TheRefriedMexican sorry but most laptops don't support video in from the TV, but download Zinc and you will have access to TV Shows, Movies and other videos from over 500 websites. Google Zinc.tv and you can find the site to download it. (URLs aren't allowed in comments by youtube :-(_)
I have an Avg to Rca cable and i connected it to my laptop and tv and nothing shows up on my tv, i messed with the resolution on my laptop but it doesn't work, also it says connect to a projector but nothing about connecting to the tv, i need help. im on windows 7 its alot more complicated for me
My computer has a VGA port but my tv hasn't, what ways can i use for a connection to my TV, my tv only has hdmi ports and Red,Blue and Green inputs. What cables etc would i need, i have the Stereo Jack Cable for the Audio but thats it.
@mayoazzzza you need a converter to from VGA to component (rgb inputs), google vga to component converter, and you should find some from distributors for about $50
hello my laptop is running windows xp when i connect it to the tv it starts loadin on tv then reverts bk to the laptop , tv saying no signal ,can you help thanks
@bob1031 sounds like a resolution mismatch. try setting your resolution on the laptop to different settings (usually lower than what you think your tv can support)
I have an s-video output on my laptop and an S-video input on my tv. I hooked up the laptop to the tv-with an s-video cable and the audio wire (red and white), however, I am only able to hear audio on my tv and no video or picture can be seen. any suggestions? should i be doing something different?
@HDTVinPC make sure the laptop is setup to send the video signal out the s-video port (usually defaulted to off, or vga port only), and the TV is set to listen to the svideo input.
hey can a old computer you know the ones they use at school. can i use that to a samsung 40 inch it has a vga and i think the computer does to but idk if it itl work cuz the computers tower cost 25 but they dont sell the moniter so i was wondering please someone reply
i cant get the audio to work on my tv, i have plugged it into most of the ports and still nothing, what should i do, i have tried the RCA ports but they all correspond to video 1/2
@DieTheDeath You will need a special video tuner card to do that. Most graphics cards are video out only. a video tv tuner card is needed to bring video into the PC
Hey, right iv linked my PC with an HDMI VGA cable which gives me my video on my HDMI 2 channel and iv also connected a mini to RCA cable for the audio which gives me my audio but on channel AV3.
I can't seem to get the Audio and Video on the same channel, how can i get them on the same channel? please help if you can?
@1111Stevan Getting audio and video on the Same TV connection is controlled by what input your TV pairs with the audio input. Some TV's will have a mini for audio and VGA for video paired together. There are converter boxes that will convert HDMI to VGA and Audio. Make sure you have one that goes in the right direction. I think you need VGA and AUDIO in to HDMI out ( sewelldirect articles vga-to-hdmi )
My pc has DVI outs and my tv has dedicated VGA in, can i use a DVI-A to VGA cable that i found on ebay? or for some reason do i HAVE to use the adapter?
i need help :/ i did the vga to vga and it shows up on the tv but then it keeps blinking between the tv and pc and saying searching for signal idk what to do help pleaseeeeeeeeeee

HDMI doesn't bloody work for me, and I'm not sure why. Both my TV and PC have HDMI ports, I have the male-to-male HDMI cable, why doesn't it work?
Izayuukan 3 months ago
@desterpot
PCmyTV.co.uk lets you know which cable you actually need. You don't necessarily need a HDMI cable, so use this site to search by Make and model to find out, or connect wirelessly.

@imnyaar Never tried it on a mac, but google Wireless HDMI mac and you will see some products that can transmit audio and video without wires to an HDMI receiver plugged into the TV. The PC version I tested worked OK.

@MaDiTube oh yes, i'm connected from my pc to tv through a DVI to HDMI cable, but still no sound. Can't work out what the problem is?
MaDiTube 8 months ago in playlist Sean
@MaDiTube DVI is video only...HDMI carries both, but is not getting any audio from the DVI connector
garyzv 7 months ago
@MaDiTube You need an Audio cable, that almost look like the yellow, white, red, component cables, subtract the yellow cable and a male jack that will plug into your headphone port on your computer. Very cheap, 1-4$ you can buy just about anywhere and what happens is it will feed the audio from your computer but you can alter the sound to make it louder with your remote.

XxTaNxMaNxX 8 months ago
@XxTaNxMaNxX It sounds like your TV is having trouble syncing to the signal that your computer is putting out. Try Changing the display appearance to use a lower resolution. Right click on the background of the desktop, select "Personalize" then "Display Settings", and click on the second display to adjust the resolution to a lower number of pixels to see if the TV can stay in sync. More pixels (x times y) means the TV has to be faster for the incoming signal.
garyzv 8 months ago

Thanks! :)

Thevampiredude888
What you need is a large bottle, you need to fill it just close to three quarter full. Course some black pepper and sea salt into a small yogurt, preferably natural. Smear this onto texture, look for texture, whatevers in style; this will build a foundation for your videos transition. get your camera phone and point it at the screen and record. Save and share brother!
TheGreatDimebag 9 months ago
what i want to know is how do people make a video of their laptop screen, what do i need, and how much does it cost :o
thevampiredude888 9 months ago

Get a screen recorder. There's a free one called CamStudio, but be warned that it doesn't work well with games.

ThearKCentral 9 months ago
when i plug it all up i only see my desktop backound..
Can you please help me?
ThearKCentral 9 months ago
@ThearKCentral Sounds like you are in extended desktop mode. Drag a window off the side of your screen and see if it appears on the TV. right click the desktop, select display properties - it will show you if there is a 2nd desktop. This is common on laptops. The other possibility is the screen size of you PC is higher that what the TV can display. try lowering your resolution until you see the windows start menu.
garyzv 9 months ago
@garyzv OK Gary, I have this extended setting, and dragged a window onto the TV. I suppose this is how I would play YouTube videos or Hulu on it, while still using the PC for other things. This is difficult because I cannot maximize the windows and grab them with my mouse while they are on the TV, to change the settings. I tried to set the display for being the same on both monitor and TV, but the TV went blank. I would like them in unison, so I can see whatever I am doing with my PC, on my TV.
Fritheby 8 months ago
@Fritheby Sorry, I got the first part right now (I did not even really try--I was afraid of getting the window stuck away from the mouse, and did not see the mouse on the TV until I let the YouTube window go to expand on the TV). I still do not know how to duplicate the PC onto TV, like for a presentation mode. It comes up a dark screen.
Fritheby 8 months ago
@ThearKCentral thats because u go on the computer to go onto something and it will show up on your tv

Hey man, great instrunction. I can't get volume on TV. I only get volume from the laptop. What do you suggest? Thanks again for your tips
convener777 10 months ago
@convener777 You need to connect the audio from the laptop to an audio input on the TV that is associated with the same video port so that when you switch the video input on the TV to the video port you hear the audio. Only HDMI willl carry both audio and video on a single wire. Most connections need a separate wire for the audio.

1111Stevan 1 year ago
@1111Stevan Getting audio and video on the Same TV connection is controlled by what input your TV pairs with the audio input. Some TV's will have a mini for audio and VGA for video paired together. There are converter boxes that will convert HDMI to VGA and Audio. Make sure you have one that goes in the right direction. I think you need VGA and AUDIO in to HDMI out ( sewelldirect articles vga-to-hdmi )
