Speaking from the point of veiw of an American, I don't think a band like Muse could come out of the US. There is just something about their sound that is distinctly english. Muse stands out from the crowd and most people here either love them or hate them. Not to much common ground :-D Oddly, they actually remind me of Van Halen back in the late 70s- in an effort to get out of the box, they broke the thing and everbody else is trying to figure out how to replicate it.
