The attack consisted of shutting down their main sites as a warning but Sony came out and said they only considered Anon a minor nuisance and that they would go ahead as planned.
I would be very surprised if the information gathered was not deleted shortly after the raid.
This was an operation against Sony, not its costumers.

To kick in a door or slip thru a window of a brick and mortor building is easy to construe as a crime. To push buttons which lead to bianary codes that are floating through cyber-space and are accessable to everyone.... it's a huge (and very conservative) leap to classify that as a "crime". The onus is on the "owner" of the data to make it inaccessable if they don't want it viewed. To blame the hackers is scape-goating.

@RealNewsFeed I agree - maybe I was a bit hasty in my judgment. I know of a couple alleged methods of anonymity like Tor, and I guess it's not too far-fetched to think some people create and operate YT accounts exclusively while using these methods.
But this Anonymous shit really scares me. It just has CoIntelPro written all over it, with an internet shutdown as the result. Outlook doesn't look good.

Anonymous has the right to hack but only if they are going to do it for the right reasons. The stuff with WikiLeaks was just like the Pentagon papers in the 1970's. the public has a right to know about what happens in bigovernment. However, why they are hacking videogame publishers and developers is a new question. They must have some larger purpose. They havn't used any individuals personal information yet but if they do that is what will determine if they are heroes or villains.

@MrJdhelle Anon made its initial attack on Sony because they demanded personal information on visitors to a personal site showing how to "hack" the PS3. The attack consisted of shutting down their main sites as a warning but Sony came out and said they only considered Anon a minor nuisance and that they would go ahead as planned.
I would be very surprised if the information gathered was not deleted shortly after the raid.
This was an operation against Sony, not its costumers.
