Have you tried using some of the 3d cameras out there, like the Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3? Is the lens separation enough for your software? I expect that the phones with 3d cameras in them will have similar or smaller lens separation. If you could be quick to market for a sub $50 app to 3d scan using just an android phone, I think you'd have a winner. The processing might be the bottleneck, I suppose, but tech gets faster quickly.
Doesn't look like the processing is done on the iPhone, so could this be any dual webcam set up? If the processing is on phone then is there any way of using one phone (more realistic) and a mirror for the second view?

laser scanning with a webcam is still cheaper and more accurate from what I can see here.
