  • The only reason Rick Scott didn't take the money was because it was coming from Obama. He campaigned on an anti-Obama governor's office, and he realized that if the train was built, it would create jobs and make money, which would make Obama look good. Now the rest of the country is laughing at him. I moved from Florida to Hawai'i to get away from that asswipe.

Scott made an ass of himself, and he won't get reelected. HURRAY!!!

  • @machoverspeed

You can't post links in youtube comments - it's to prevent spammers from spamming comments pages.

  • I'm looking forward to a real alternative to flying.

  • @machoverspeed Give me a break with this crap. The problem is you making up bullshit and not being man enough to admit it when you are called out. Your lazy ass never looked up anything at all but you trying to claim it's on me to just trust whatever crap you make up or to read the entire federal budget. You're fucking a clown.

You're right about one thing though I would accept a citation from any major news outlet to back your claim up. Do you actually even have one of those?

  • @machoverspeed Also, you might want to look up something called "burden of proof" sometime. The short version is that the person making the claim is generally the one who is expected to dig up some evidence for it if they want to be taken seriously. The point being that I'm not going to research your bullshit for you. I'm just letting you know, that I know, you are full of shit. Not that I'm congratulating myself because it's pretty damn transparent to anyone.

  • @machoverspeed Now that you googled and located the federal budget record (for the first time ever, no doubt) you expect me to dig through some 10,000 page doc looking to see if the "facts" you made up happen to match anything in it. If you had actually gotten them from there as you claim wouldn't you have already done all this and be able to tell me exactly where it is? ...and honestly that's just the nail in the coffin of this preposterous bullshit of yours. Just grow up and admit your wrong.

  • @machoverspeed ...or it's possible that youtube doesn't allow people to post links in comments to prevent spam there genius. That's why I pm'd that other one to you.

  • @machoverspeed Yeeeash... Can't you just be honest and admit you made it up? How did you find out this data, specifically? Is it online at all? What's "the old fashioned way"? Did you walk down to capital hill and leaf through a paper copy? If it's onine in some gaint doc or something then can you tell me where to find that doc and can you tell me what page it's on? You're obviously just lying, you never looked it up anywhere and you are only embarassing yourself now by refusing to admit it.

  • @machoverspeed I assume total federal spending. Hey, it's better than the source you provided or more accurately didn't provide at all.

Yeah though, to get anything through congress these days though every rep wants money thrown at their state for votes. I'm not interested trying to force Texas to build any trains it doesn't want and I'm fine if Florida doesn't want them either. I think it's good Floridas gov had the decency to send it back if they don't really need rail.

  • @machoverspeed So you were pulling it out of your ass then. I did look some stuff up and though I didn't find anything specific to transportation, I found a list of Federal spending per tax dollar paid. The bigggest losers are New Jersey, Nevada, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Illinois, Delaware, California, New York, and Colorado. Half of which you will notice are in the Northeast corridor. Texas is a net loser also but just barely. The top gainer of our tax dollars is New Mexico.

  • @machoverspeed Yeah, so show me where you are getting the figures that say Texas puts in more than it gets out and New York doesn't. I'm assuming you did read this somewhere right? Then show me the link or you just pulling it out of your ass?

Also, who said trains are Fucking magic? They are just a way to get from one place to another. In the northeast they make sense in terms of efficiency and frankly I would rather ride a train than drive a car or go through an airport.

  • @machoverspeed Whatever, Air travel is still subsidized more heavily than train travel by a long shot and it's not ALL covered by taxes on airlines. I still don't get why trains are the only thing in the transportation budget that you people bitch about when it's less than 1% of the spending. What's so offensive about trains?

  • @machoverspeed I'd like to know where you are getting those "facts" actually cus that doesn't seem like it's correct. Besides even if it is your state government that pays for roads it certainly isn't you and your tax dollars paying for other roads all over the country that you don't use. What's the difference to you whether it's a road or a train? Oh by the way both of the currents lines in the northeast (NEC and Acela) are the ONLY ones in the country that turn a profit for Amtrak.

  • @machoverspeed I fail to understand why I'm paying for highways across a fucking desert in the middle of nowhere that I never use. Highways are a ludicrously expensive and inviable proposition. Why can't Texans just build toll roads or ride horses? Is paying for themselves against their religion or something?

    Also, FUCK YOU!!!

  • @machoverspeed Yes you have a personal point, but your still looking at it only what you need. I wont even benefit from this. At least not now, maybe not me at all. But future generations will. Thats a larger problem not just in the U.S., but in the world... We only think about ourselves.

  • @machoverspeed Think of it like this: The tax money you spent is helping to fund our basic needs but also to be able to fill those needs, we must start in a particular area. So we may start in N.Y., but soon it could be a daily sight nationally to see a new train in every city. "To build a house, you must lay the first brick."

  • What happened to the west coast!!!??? Do we not exist? Seattle would love a fast way to get from here to Portland (OR) to San Francisco.

  • @ANASTASIACHAVEZFILM And problems are already cropping there connected to the much vaunted high-speed rail there.

  • @ANASTASIACHAVEZFILM yes and these fuckers said up to 160 mph, china goes at least 200mph on those mountains

  • 2 Billion dollar grant?what about the homeless people living In tent city And The Economy And the cuts ? I pity This Government!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a waste of taxpayer money. Disgusting.

  • Florida will be under the sea by then. they need a grant for scuba gear.

  • Raleigh-Charlotte lines with "speed up" by about 6 minutes : WASTE WAST WASTE WASTE ... yes, we have a DEM PUPPET Govenor.

  • I live in Florida and I support not building this rail system. I pay enough taxes in Miami for a stupid (new) baseball stadium that will benefit no one but The Marlins...Situation is really bad. We're building metro rails every where down here, simply can't afford a 2.2 Billion project. I rather invest that money in education, health care, or welfare. Go ahead NY, pay 2.2 B out of pocket for 30 extra miles per hour. I support you, and provably ride your train, but hell I ain't paying more taxes.

  • Yea! after 60 years or so of no updates, a few small areas get's some high speed rail. That's one week in Afghanistan. Yea! I love my gruel. Master, Master please can I have some more?

  • High speed rail sponsored by FEMA.

  • Faster choo choo is not a faster choo choo if they use the same tracks they will only have more collisions with cars causing them more delays track needs to be completely segregated from all vehicle traffic. These speeds on existing tracks will not work.

  • All that money for 30 more miles per hour? WOW! I thought this was a joke. Other city's need light rail...not NY.

  • Well talk about taking one step forward one centimeter long towards modernization of US transportation system. China's transportation system is still way ahead.

  • MAY 21 2011 IS JUDGEMENT DAY!

  • @Lordismyportion Wait how do you know that's judgement day? Doesn't the bible say you don't know the time or day?

  • all that to safe 30mins????for real...get a clue take a break and chill

  • Fuck Florida...

  • funny... since the matrix we live in is currently on track to collapse before the end of 2012 thus freeing humanity from thousands of years of bondage to the darkside...

  • Will FL reject federal subsidies for air travel, and/or improving her water ports, intra- coastal water ways, if such subsidies are ever offered?

  • I'm sure the tsa will be at every stop to put their hands Down your pants

  • @jcost2012 TSA should use pretty women for that job. >:D

  • Ahaha, Florida.

  • More important things need to be considered before this kind of money is spent on rail systems.

  • @dobba92 I'm not complaining about gas prices. America has low gas prices when compared to Europe.

  • that right florida cali got u money biatch

  • by2050 America won't be here..well the america we all konw anh hate..i mean love

  • fast train is fantastic transportation

  • Another foolish way to spend American tax dollars :(

  • $2.2 billion = 1.5 weeks of war in Iraq and Afghanistan

  • @JogBird Good Point

  • @JogBird lol

  • @JogBird good job

  • @JogBird to protect your ass each fucking week.

  • This is stupid. This is America, we don't need and can't afford this. America isn't a very dense place, and the only place where trains would be useful are in the northeastern corridor. We have airplanes, and we don't need to waste money we don't have.

  • The majority of people will never use the train but they will have to pay for it.

  • @Angelsigns2012 The people that do use it pay to ride on it :D it will turn a profit.. Plus it adds jobs to build and maintain it.

  • Thanks a lot Rick CUT Scott! 50,000+ jobs in Florida went to the waste basket!

  • Where is Obama gonna get the money?

Oh, yeah I forgot, loot another country.

  • In 10 years, the Red States will be clamoring for high speed rail, while the Blue States have been enjoying them for years. Thank goodness that Obama is President.

  • @KyuuA4 Yeah right .

  • @KyuuA4 America doesn't need rail, we're not dense enough. It works in Europe and countries like Japan, but when you have such a low density, like America has, high speed rail is pointless. Flying is much better.

  • @cjracer1000 The Northeastern US (where this money is now being spent) has a great population density than Japan. 20% of the god damn country lives here including myself. We absolutely NEED rail. The current Acela and NEC lines already full and turning a profits for Amtrak. Sorry you live in the middle of nowhere but just because no one needs a train where you are doesn't mean the entire country doesn't. The Northeast is the economic engine of this country and we pay our share of taxes.

  • @ArchNME lol the Northeast doesn't just pay their share in taxes, it practically subsidizes the poorer southern states.

  • @phantomsuccour TBH, I would rather the government spend money on improving our country & putting it in things that people can actually use instead of wasting it all over-seas.

  • @ArchNME I was actually discussing with my friend high speed rail. Yes, I do live in a flyover state, but MOST of America, flyover states and basically everywhere else, doesn't need high speed rail. High-speed rail is basically only useful in the north east(BosWash). It's also not the government's business to fund it, if companies feel it's profitable then they'll do it themselves. That's what capitalism's for. tl;dr: only dense parts of the country need high-speed rail.

  • @cjracer1000 The airline industry is subsidized by the government to the tune of about 30 billion a year. That's what builds most of the airports. Also where do you think the $75 billion spent on roads annually come from? The Amtrak budget is just 600 million. So before you bitch about our train why don't you ask yourself if you would have a highways or an airport in your area if my tax dollars weren't paying for it. I seriously doubt anyone else would find it profitable to build them.

  • @ArchNME I do think that high speed rail is a good thing, but only in certain places. It's simply not needed in most of America.

  • It's because Florida wants to invest in a million cops on the road all of them in those fancy new sporty Dodge Chargers. I wasn't in state 10 minutes and the speedtrap cop had arrested me for an out of state expired license and put me in jail for 3 weeks and impounded my pets and vehicle. They would have destroyed my animals had I not phoned someone from out of state to fly down and rescue them.

  • Florida cancelling high speed rail? Enjoy becoming outdated, Florida.

  • @KyuuA4

It's not "HIGH-SPEED" rail you toothless redneck.

    It's a train.

You want high-speed? Look at Japan or China.

The United States can only build train systems from 40 years ago.

  • @pvtjamesryan3 Well, we can't expect to have the 200+ mph rail systems - just yet. However, developing rail systems in America is a good step in the right direction. Either way, Florida screwed up again.

  • @KyuuA4

So in your mind, the United States is a third-world country that has to work its way up to eventually compete.

    hahahaha

    It's sad, but apparently true.

    Bravo sir!

  • What a fool
