I am a 21 year old male which i am a ect- meso. My wrist are just about 6.3 inches and i have a small bone structure. I am 5 foot 9 and i weight about 160 pounds. But i seem to put on mass fairly easy, but very slow. And i been training for almost 4 years already.
i don't really seem to fit into any of these catagories, i am small boned a bit tall, gain muscle reasonably well, lowish body fat but i eat pretty healthy and i feel like if i didn't i'd get fat but idk, i also exercise a bit (btw i'm 16)
@dancingbears714 At your age, you should not ever worry about what somatype you are. Instead, just focus on being active and eating healthy. Your body changes so much and goes through the ringer at that age with hormones and trying to figure out what it's doing. Don't focus on it so much and over time, as long as you are taking care of yourself, you will find your natural body shape and size. My body changes so much between the ages of 16 and 22!
Somatotypes are bullshit. Don't let this crap stop you from achieving the physique that you want. "Bla, bla, bla I can't gain weight, I'm an ecto" or "bla, bla, bla, I can't lose weight, I'm endo!" are just bullshit excuses for you. If you want to lose weight, eat less and accordingly. Want to gain weight? Eat more and accordingly. Ignore all of this crap until you find out how you gain when you are eating properly and working yourself hard.
@1Makeprofit When you said "find out how you gain when you are eating properly and working yourself hard" - EXACTLY! The only way to find that out is to trial and error and see what works best for you and THEN you can determine what types of foods, training methods, etc work for YOU. You can call this bullshit all you want, but you can't fight the FACT that different people have different ratios of Type I and Type II muscle fibers and they respond to different macronutrient ratios.
I AM SUBSCRIBED!! I'm feeling really weak when it comes to my weight loss targets and I found Episode 49 - 10 reasons why you're not losing weight, and I am SO happy I found it. Thanks a bunch!!
Great vid lots of info... Please forgive me for saying this but dogs dont were clothes!!! Im so sorry for stating that... Anyway thanks for the info and I will be putting it into my lifestyle routines... Peace
@tytetee But she's sooooo cute in her t-shirts!! Actually, she has really bad skin allergies, so we were forced to start putting shirts on her a few years ago to prevent her from scratching herself raw! Seems to work well : ) But, yes, it does look a tad ridiculous, lol!! Thx for watching! xo
I am a endomorph and I find that it will be harder for me to loose weight because I'm collage student and I don't have time to sit down and and eat a health home cook meal. My college provides a gym that is free to anyone, but there's 3 thing I need know
1. What kind of foods should we eat?(grains, protein, etc)
2. What types of exercise would be recommended for endos?( either in gym or at home)
3. And what should we eat before and after we exercise?
@MsBlazingGlory Just watch your portions, stay away from junk food, and incorporate high intensity interval training. And be consistent and patient... it takes time to see results, but that's a good sign because the more steady and slow you lose and contour, the better off you keep it! All the best to you!
@BKsMassive It sounds like you may have a little bit of endomorph mixed with mesomorph, too, if you don't gain weight easily. Consider yourself blessed : )
@phaedruslive You are probably more of a mesomorph if you're body fat is not very high and you are muscular and cut. People think I take stuff, too, because I can just look at a weight and gain muscle lol! I'm not offended I just tell them I am built like my dad, lol! ; )
@MadeFitTV im not lean at all. Im always around 20% bf, regardless of how hard I diet. I dont mind though, i've got a phobia of weighing less than 200 lbs. and being one of the 'little guys' shudders...
@robynrheaa Yes it's possible to be a combination of meso and ecto or meso and endo - but never endo and ecto. I would say I am also meso and endo because I can pack on the fat in my belly ; ) LOL!!
I'm a endo/meso bodytype. I gain muscle the most @ the torso and shoulders, and the least @ my arms. Since I have a large build, I've been doing calisthenics exercises (vs medium/heavy weightlifting) to get that streamlined martial-arts-like build. I notice differences in my torso, butt, legs, back, chest, etc; but not in my arms. Compound exercises aren't cutt'n it.
Your body has tendencies, so the best thing to do is to ISOLATE the stubborn parts of your body, like I do. :)
Great video! Any examples of Endomorphs that may be a little more inspiring or have done real well with their body through training? The only one I could ever find was Jay Cutler, surely there must be more! I'm an Endo and I manage to stay in good shape but it's tough when the love handles seem to re-appear so easily! Be nice to have someone to look up to to keep me going!
Thanks for watching! I have to admit, it would be hard to determine what a male bodybuilder's real body type would be just because it's all based on what they look like. When they are at their peak, you would not know - and not to mention the one's that use unnatural methods to look that way. But, as long as you are able to get the look you want, I don't think it makes a difference what body type you are because you overcame it and look great! : )
@535manbearpig Aww, no : ( LOL! I always say "There is no room for hurt feelings when it comes to your HEALTH and wellbeing." You can still be healthy and be an endo, but it's all about self-acceptance and sticking to a health and fitness plan for the right reason.. better quality of life.
I don't know if i reply'd to your comment, or just posted on the vid; look at my comments on this vid for some endomorph athlete examples. There's more than you think. :)
I am kind of between mesomorph and endomorph. I have alot of muscle, but it's very easy for me to gain weight around my stomach, butt, and arms. What would work for me?
I would recommend getting a good balance of strength training and high intensity cardio. Keep away from junk foods and high glycemic index carbs - eat lots of lean protein and veggies, whole grains, etc.. This is key in maintaining your progress . Thanks for watching!
The biggest tip I can give you is to have patience. You are 14 years old and your body will continue to grow for the next 10 years. So, be patient, eat healthy, and be fit, and your body will flourish to what it is meant to be. Just take care of your body and your body will take care of you!
Actually, this is used as a tool for people to know what their body responds to. Most people know how they looked, where they gained the most weight, and how they gain or burn fat before they get to the point where they need to change. Knowing what type of body you have based on physical traits that are tested and proven, is a great way to tailor your personal health/fitness plan to your goal. Like I said in the video, it is not the be all and end all. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
If you lift for long enough, your body will become more aware of what physique it was in if you stop. Then when you return to your training, it will gain quicker than it did when you initially started as a beginner because of muscle memory. Thanks for watching and for the comment - best of luck to you : )
Anyone of all body types should eat small meals frequently everyday. It's about how you eat and what you're fueling your body that will make or break how you look. Keep it to the right stuff like veggies, whole grains, protein, and low sugar, and you'll be able to maintain a great physique with exercise. : )
I am so glad you mad this video! THANK YOU! I was getting very discouraged because for the pass 5 weeks I have been working out trying to get slender. I started leg lifts, running in place, arm lifts boxing moves, arms are getting bigger! My thighs, calfs, and but are getting bigger. My butt is hard sliming a little. Breast went down first! I coudn't understand why in my photos I look slimmer BUT my clothes are fitting tighter! WHAT THE HELL! It bothered me all this week.
Just keep focusing on healthy habits with exercise and nutrition and your body will find where it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, we can't choose how we look - we can only choose to do the right things to keep our bodies in top shape. My chest loses fat first, too : ( And I don't have much to spare up there, either! LOL!
It's most common to be either an ecto or endo, with a meso crossover. Being both endo and ecto would not work because one can't put on weight and the other stores weight easier.
I can't figure out which one. I have more of a bigger build around my chest and shoulders, and i have a pretty big skeletal structure, my ribs are large, and my shoulders are in between broad and round. any idea what i could be?
It sounds like you're a meso, but how are you in body fat or muscle mass? That would be another big indicator. If it's harder for you to lose fat and muscle, then you would be meso w/ a little endo. If it's harder for you to gain muscle and fat and have a high metabolism, ecto would be more of your type. I hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching! XO

Some athletic endomorphs that I could think of off the top of my head:
Derek Fisher (PointGuard)
Brian Westbrook (RunningBack)
Larry Johnson (RunningBack)
Steve McNair (Quarterback)
Ray Lewis (MiddleLineBacker)

if your naturally an ectomorph and weighlifting for 2 years do you still keep the muscle or does it reset back to the default after you stop.
