i love it how everyone is freaking out claiming this is a dirty hit. theres a reason he didnt get suspended on this and thats because green turnes at the last second. Koci was already ready to enegage before he turned. Its not Koci's fault hes about 100lbs heavier then green is.

@RatedRForLife It's easy to see that Koci wasn't going for a hit from the side. He was coming from behind and he hit him from behind. I don't know where you're seeing this "turn at the last second." When Green did less than a quarter of a turn, Koci wasn't even across the goal line yet. He had plenty of time and space to pull up and he didn't. He hit him from behind between the numbers when he was playing along the boards. That's a dirty play.

@UboobSuks No, I actually don't like that new rule, I wish they would go back to being able to aggressively clearing players from in front of the net. Some how people are thinking I want to ban physical play from the game, and I haven't said anything like that. My point remains the same - Useless, nothing players should be severely punished for going after superstars. The reason I picked this video to comment on is because the game was well out of hand, and the goon Koci went out of his way.

Green was turned sideways up until the last second....his follow through turned him around. Yes Koci is a seasoned goon, but he didn't leave his feet, didn't hit his head, and didnt stick his knee out, unlike some players on the ice. He checked a guy from behind, got a penalty and ejected. 4-6 games tops.

And to say that somehow Greenes superstar status should come into play is completely asinine and ignorant. So if the roles were reversed, Greene shouldn't be punished if he had wrecked Koci?

Ignorance comes from not knowing the subject in which your talking about, I've been playing Ice hockey and watching hockey since a very young age and so my comment doesn't come from ignorance. Would you enjoy watching a league filled with Koci's, and Steve moore's and Daniel Carsillo's and no Mike Green's honestly. If so, walk down to your local rink, pay 12 dollars for a ticket, and watch some bush-league pinheads go at each other.

The first thing I learned in competitive leagues was dont skate with your head down and dont turn your back on the boards. It's a part of the game, and you're sadly mistaken if you dont realize the NHL is built on 2 things: scoring goals and big hits. Is every hit clean? Sadly no. But there's a huge difference between Bertuzzi driving Moore's face into the ice with 8 minutes left in an 8-1 game and ending his career and Koci poorly finishing a check from behind in the 2nd period of a 3-0 game.

I was referring to the Nhl avoiding another bertuzzi incident as in someone getting revenge for a hit on a star player. the nhl needs to stick up for it's superstars. Marcus Naslund was cheapshot elbowed to the head by Steve moore causing concussion symptoms for next 6 to 18 months. Bertuzzi,seeing the nhl was not going to stick up for naslund but instead letting a nobody like steve moore get away with this took matters in his own hands and then the nhl decides to do something to bertuzzi.

If a nobody player hits a nobody player in a wrong manner he should be disciplined. regardless of whether or not it's right, the league protects its stars. guaranteed they will come down hard on a guy like koci. even though green did turn at the last minute, koci was charging from just below the blue line to nail him. no need to do that when you're down 5-0.
