I'm not saying that entertaining the crowd is a sin, it's good.......but when tsu thinks that they are better than EVERYONE else, they are wrong. UTM is just as good. TSU is good at playing loud, UTM is good at playing musically. Both bands have strengths and weaknesses. UTM's main priority is not for entertaining the football crowd, we want to be a mentor band for other high school bands in our area. To be honest, they all want to play your music and march like us.

To be honest, it is like comparing apples to oranges. Two totally different marching styles and music selections. i think you have strayed from the point of conversation. so when you grow up and stop playing my horse is bigger than yours, we can talk. until then, you and your AoB band can keep being mediocre!
And also, in the high-stepping world, we do not use sets. Everything is based off of count. You have so many counts for this move, so many for the drill, so many for the concert stage and so on... Look up other HBCU high stepping bands like TSU (try TnSU also), FAMU, JSU, BCC, SU, UAPB, etc.... It is our style and heritage.

Well I have to say that TSU preformed there Asses off I LOVED the field show!!! In OT TSU did take home the win with a 3pt. lead!! Ummm but yeah, I don't mean any harm but look @ it this way TSU is a Show Band An we weren't! So that made a big difference! Both of us held our own with out diffenent styles! I know many ppl didn't like it but look @ it this way, if u came to see a show down u came for the wrong thing! But like I said TSU I Loved it! Shoutz out to my cuzo Ashley Swift I c u cuzo!!

TSU is serious...I was there...they did "put on for my city" in the stands...you couldn't even hear UTM's band when TSU started playing...I luv tennessee...they won that game in OT too.
You know it's easy to here a band over another if that band has all the same instruments playing the same note. That's that whole point. TSU is a show band. UT Martin is a corps band/entertainment. UT Martin's instruments have split parts unlike TSU. TSU does not have split parts for there instruments. More of the same note equals louder. SO as I do agree that TSU is "loud" that does not make them in better or worse than anyone else. Two different styles here.

well, i hate to break it to you, but UT Martin is a GREAT band! and if you dont have the intelligence to recognize it, then i would have to tell you that you are not musically inclined and that you need to get educated before you go around talking crap about other bands. Tsu is a good show band....however, if people want to be entertained with REAL music, they come see the UT Martin skyhawks in action! Thanks and have a great day!

@krydsewa one this isnt the full halftime show this is just the dance routine which always happens after they do their drills. look at their feildshow from the 2010 southern heritage classic. yeah sure HBCU's dance but that isnot all they do. that is just for extra entertainment for the crowd after they do everything else.
@krydsewa actually tsu does play real music. just because it's not classical music doesnt mean it's not real music. and you guys at ut need to understand that at football games this is what a crowd wants to see. not that boring style you guys have.
@TheDragonmaster18 we dont do what we do for a football crowd. yeah, we perform there, but we write our show around every high school band in tennessee. we are a traditional style marching band because it gives high school bands something to look up to. and they do. we are good at what we do. our pep band tunes are for football and bball but we perform for the other band kids! sorry to burst your bubble!
@playboy03 well, we'd be pretty awesome if we did the same exact routine every year. and ive looked at alot of tsu clips and not one single video shows them actually marching. so, can you really call yourself a marching band? i dont think you are included in that terminology. sorry.:(

As stated by someone else the styles are completely different. I have to wonder & ask one thing though. If the show is not for entertaining the crowd then why perform it at a football game? They were at the EIU vs. TSU game today and they were good well better then our HORRIBLE band.

Yup sure was...and what's even better is that because we pride ourself on precision, TSU was and is still better than UT Martin...
I remember when UT Martin use to have to stop a show and re-set drill. So please let's not compare bands, especially marching bands.
