  • wonderful ^^

  • when will be out?

  • it is out in korea and it will be out in china late 08 around now and in english early 09

  • It is quite impressive.

  • All looks and no function. Closed rooms and Mini-games. If this is a social 3D network, then count me out. I choose the freedom of building in my environment on an entire planet.

  • are you referring to the poorly coded, horrible looking Second Life? If so, yes its great you can create your own stuff, but no, if I'm going to be playing a social networking game I want it to at least feel like I'm there. Good graphics, sound and physics will do that. Otherwise I can just use something like Yahoo public chat rooms to equate the experience.

Plus second life has obscenely poor performance, last gen gfx on a next gen card should never lag so much on low gfx settings...

  • If I was referring to the cluster%$*k that is Second Life, I would have said Second Life. I was, as I directly said, referring to my own environment, and not somebody elses. As for Nurien, they are all eye candy and no functionality.

When you need an nVidia specific card to run it, and even then a PhysX capable one - you're intentionally cutting out a majority of the market.

No Virtual Environment has yet to get it right. But it's amusing to see them continue to try.

  • well, you know, it's a video game (ish...), it'll be decades before it's truly realistic. I believe ATi is working on a Physx compatible driver, however the majority of the market is running nVidia (because they've been the performance leaders since the GF6). However yes, they are cutting out a large portion of the market, but that doesnt mean it HAS to be on nVidia hardware, they could easily have CPU based physics (not as good) or an ATi variant (dont recall what theirs was called ATM).

  • I think "decades" is a bit pessimistic. The technology exists now to do a highly realistic environment in real time on consumer hardware. A lot of research over the past ten to twenty years have outlined very useful techniques to accomplish this high level of detail fairly easily.

CPU based PhysX is dirt slow and next to worthless. An ATi variant more than likely wouldn't be true PhysX capable and instead just their own brand of physics.

Give it less than 5 yrs, and watch the detail level.

  • Wow, an intelligent discussion on YT.

I don't know about "functionality", per se, but to truly immerse the player into a game, animation, lighting, and facial expressions play a huge role. So far, Nurien has got all of that done right, and that's especially important for an SNS.

Yes, there's a lot of creative freedom in SL, but the character (non)interactivity completely ruins the pristine world that you've painstakingly created. So in the end, what's the point?

  • But if what darian claims is true, then also count me out. It'll be fun to mess around for a while with the most realistic avatars commercially available, but if this is "Zwinkies" or whatever the hell it's called, but with a much more believable face, it also defeats the whole point.

I don't know. Maybe the Asians love trite and pointless games like this? I wonder about them sometimes...

There's still no happy median between looks and gameplay, except for a few like RS: Vegas 2, GoW2, etc.

  • wtf is it with the hair

    STOP. MOVING. lol

  • this is actually scary

  • very cute

  • is this gonna be free or.. cost

  • Very costly, considering you will need a $599 GTX 280 to run the game at all.

  • WRONG, if that was true they would only have a handful of subscribers. This isn't Crysis graphics now...

  • The rendering is very good

  • Very nice, how much??
