@maxwelrod Its real history. Fallout was merely fiction based upon actual events, future events, books, etc.) Its too bad that every time gamers see or hear about post-nuclear events they bring up fallout and compare everything to it. So to answer your question, there is no influence from Fallout.

The fallout reference is in the part about the underground vault. And what about it is real history? It's a fictional story inspired by, among other things, the real chernobyl disaster. Actually, this movie reminds me more of Metro 2033 than S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Nuclear war, everyone goes underground, a decade or so passes, then the humans have to go up to the surface to save what's theirs.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s environment is more like self-induced isolation by the stalkers, who wish to seek their fortune or a free life in the dangerous Zone.

It pisses me off when people think shit is based on games when its the other way around. Look, the game is cool but its just a fuckin shooter. Its a great book that is based on a great movie and both encouraged the game. So THIS movie is based on the book, unless the fucker only saw the game and made it which I think is just lame tbh. Its like when that shitty starship troopers movie came out; he didn't read the book and the movie turned into a piece of garbage with no artistic vision.

yo it's stalker from the regisseur Tarkowskij. it's not based on the game Stalker but on the book (sorry I only know the german title) "Pickink am Wegesrand" by the Strugatzki brothers - but the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was based on this book too.

I suppose you are already aware of this, but STALKER was actually partially inspired by a 1979 movie, also named "Stalker". it was directed by Andrej Tarkovski and it was in its turn also loosly based on a novel called "Roadside Picnic". The novel also greatly influenced the game, perhaps even more than the movie.

Well the book was out before the movie and the writers of the book helped direct the film, it's a shame the film didn't present many VISUAL anomalies or artifacts(apart from the room) but I suppose special effects weren't as great as nowadays

Well I'm really replying to a comment,(I cant remember what one now!) What I was really talking about was the film Stalker made in the 70's, they didn't convey many anomalies that you could actually see in the film,unlike in the game. But I did notice that this film wasn't an alternate version of the game, which is a good thing! I never said either,great short film! I'd love to see what you could do with the game version!
