I just watched the Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and must say that the priest scene is really damn effective. Aside from just being creepy and creating a mood, it establishes that the body snatchers are already out and about -- the teachers encouraging the kids to bring home the plants AKA alien seed pods, the priest possibly being one... yeah. Absurd as it might seem, there's no denying that it's pretty fucking creepy.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is a bad call the scene makes perfect sense.

The world is being taken over by beings that look like us but don't understand how we work emotionally and the scene quite early in the film helps build the atmosphere of reality going on the blink. While I agree with a lot of choices this one and the Twin Peaks one don't fit the title of these posts. It's weird but it's meant to be weird.

the thing about the "Dramatic Thunder and Lightning Scene" is that there is no lightning or sounds of tunder before it and not after, so it sounds like either Alcatraz has freaky one lightning thunderstorms or that Alcatraz creates thunderstorms by itself.

In defense of the Alcatraz scene, I think that the thunder and lightning enhance the feeling of fear and dread in the prison. It's a nightmarish circumstance. As Frank Morris just stands there looking helpless as the thunder and lightning rolls, it kind of makes you feel his situation.
