yep im going through recruitment now, i also agree noone should shit talk anyones military i believe every army has their own training regime some better than others but i dont believe any country espacially in the coalition canbe considered 2nd rate. Yes we do have one of if not the best army in the world and if i dont make it through recruitment i would be crushed cause the australian army is something i could be proud to say i was part of for the rest of my life. good to all enlistees

The US has always respected the ability of the Aussies, especially in WW2 when 1 million Aussie troops pushed the Japanese out of Papua New Guinea and Borneo without US assistance. Billy Hughes tried to introduce conscription twice at a federal referendum and the Australian people voted it down twice. The AIF was one of only 2 all volunteer forces to fight in WW1, even the Yanks, Canadians and Brits had conscription.
Same in WW2 & Korea. Some Aussie conscripts fought in Vietnam, that is all digger.

@DomBarber From what I have heard with my mates who are in the Army Cadets, female's must have their hair tied back at all times. Now this next bit of info is very vague to me so I don't know if its trustworthy but Ill mention it anyway; as a female in the army, you control artillery and medical work (I think psychology has something to do with it to). I don't think they get women out into the fighting much. If you want more info and in depth I will send a PM if your interested.

@TheHEROESdontRUN @TheHEROESdontRUN Australia was only decisively beaten by the Japs at the fall of Singapore in Feb 1942. The Aussies defeated the Japs in every other battle. Just because Hollywood hasn't made movies about the Aussies and we don't have Tom Hanks to make a mini-series about our boys doesn't mean they weren't good fighters. Historians who know the *full story* of WW2, know that the Aussies won 3/4th of the Battles they fought. Google the Siege of Tobruk & New Guinea Campaign.

@TheHEROESdontRUN Ok that link I provided didn't work. Go to Siege of Tobruk on Wikipedia and then click on footnote 19. Millers "Appendix A" and that will bring up a US Army article about the lessons the Aussie troops taught on how to beat the German Blitzkrieg because, you heard right, the Australian 9th Division was the first allied unit of WW2 to defeat the Germans, in 1941. The British, Polish and French had only retreated until then, and the US had not yet entered the war.
