Same-sex marriages have no effect on any other marriages. This has been proven emphatically over this past decade throughout the world and the United States. What Prop 8 did was eliminate the civil non-religious right of marriage from same-sex couples. The reason it was "Yes" was because the proposition changed something. Keeping things the same way is a "No" vote. There was nothing that limited what churches could do whatsoever. Now, there is something that limits what gay couples can do. I live in California. Prop 8 was a constitutional amendment. As such it could be used to invalidate other laws which implemented civil unions and laws which require domestic partnership.
Things are not OK here. There is an all out culture war the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Briggs initiative in 1978 which would have banned gays from teaching in schools.
In one day more than 1 million people protested against proposition 8. Expect more backlash.

What Prop 8 did was eliminate the civil non-religious right of marriage from same-sex couples. I'm very thrown off by the info text posted with the video. The idea of "No on 8" creating discrimination against the church is an ironic twist, so ironic, in fact, that the point appears to have been created for no other purpose than such irony. The point has no standing in facts, as the Supreme Court Decision specifically countered the idea that churches would be forced to do anything. Even the emancipation of the slaves in the late 1800s persecuted the majority more.

Webster's Online defines it as "to harass or punish in a manner designed to injure, grieve, or afflict; specifically : to cause to suffer because of belief." Suffering is different for everyone, but is it a radical departure from logic to speculate that the homosexual community is more affected by the "Yes" vote than churches are by a "No" vote? Raw numbers do not tell the whole story. Gay people were a much smaller percentage of the population than Jews. In addition some gay people managed to hide their orientation. Gay people were treated just as badly as Jews & Gypsies. As a result 60% died by your own admission.

I saw various series. on the HIstory channel regarding the rise and fall of the 3rd Reich including the SS and Gestapo. Go read on the SA and on Ernst Roehm, Edmund Heines. The reason it was "Yes" was because the proposition changed something. Keeping things the same way is a "No" vote. There was nothing that limited what churches could do whatsoever. Now, there is something that limits what gay couples can do. Churches remain unaffected, except that the churches that perform gay marriages don't have their members' marriages recognized as other marriages (such as those between atheists, Wiccans, or Satanists).

Hitler would have supported Prop 8, since he also killed as many Gays as he could find along with Jewish and other "imperfect" people.
Unfortunately, there were mean people on all sides. Obama, McCain, Yes on 8 and No on 8 were all signs that were stolen or improperly placed - i.e. in public places w/o permission or in front of opposing folks property. Pointing fingers is easy, but TWO fingers always point back.
Anyway you look at it, Prop 8 needs to be repealed and rights restored.

Marriage is a union of love, and it has many applications.

if you really have gay friends and want to keep them, don't say that to their faces. Gay marriage doesn't persecute churches. Gay marriage is civil marriage only, nobody else's business. There are religions out there that are pro gay marriage, what about their religious freedom? enough with the bible mumbo jumbo. Western civilisation doesn't need some whacky religion dictating what should be the law or not. Seperate church and state.

This was done just as the Prop 8 campaign used lies about same sex marriage in their campaign ads--convincing a state to believe that same sex relations would be taught in schools as a direct result of homosexual marriage--bringing up the false threat that straight children could be converted into being homosexual.

Like it or not, there are many people who compare gays to Hitler in a hopes to discredit LGBT equality. This video parodies Prop 8 opponents by making Hitler look like their ally.

I don't think that is the message of this video at all! No one is saying that the gays are Nazis. But the Hitler image is hilarious, because there is no villian more deserving of disappointment than him. So to see it happen and compare it to no on prop 8 is pretty funny.

I live in California. Prop 8 was a constitutional amendment. As such it could be used to invalidate other laws which implemented civil unions and laws which require domestic partnership.
Things are not OK here. There is an all out culture war the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Briggs initiative in 1978 which would have banned gays from teaching in schools.
In one day more than 1 million people protested against proposition 8. Expect more backlash.
